Good shave but i bought mine for about £60 in dixons 6 months ago. That was usign a price match and 10% difference back vs argos.

Excellent shaver, got mine a while back for £119 so this is a great price.

I got one of these from Argos cheap but didnt like it at all.
I've not used it for months now as every time I did I got a bad rash, it felt like my neck had been sandpapered..

Great shaver system. I haven't got the base unit, just the shaver and the nivea balm but am a big fan of it.

Use it in the shower, saves loads of time in the morning.

I paid about £60 for the shaver so I'd say this was a good price.

Are you guys prepping properly? Try shaving after a shower, maybe try a hot towel on your face. Also buy some proper shaving soap and apply properly with a brush. Once you've applied the soap use a razor of your choice and shave with the grain (feel your cheeks to see which way the grain goes).
Do against the grain or across the grain on a subsequent pass only if your skin can handle it.

I had the same issue with all electric razors.
The only solution i've found that works for me is to wet shave straight after showering and use King Of Shaves Oil (the Kinexium or whatever its called, not the alpha oil) -and- gillette fusion sensitive skin gel with a mach 3 or fusion razor. It's a hassle, but its got be be better than having a beard, and the oil seems to make the razor blades last longer too.

this site just makes me spend spend and spent. Hot deal

yes, it doesnt work well for once a week, i have got hs8040, 1st of all it always leaves patches, 2ndly leave rashes and skin burns like anything.
Some people here on hukd said that skin takes upto 6 to 8 months to get used to it, but i dont have enough courage to punish my skin for 6 months on the hope it will get used to this torture ;-)

Exactly what i do

I have one of these. Cost over £100 so this is a good deal.

The cream doesn't last long but is only about £3 to replace.

As i said... only with electric.

I've been trimming plus the occasional wet shave for ages too (just turned 36), but I just started in a new position where I need to shave every day (******!). I've been wet-shaving for 2 months *almost* every week day now and it's not working for me, so I was desperately looking for one of these shavers. Except that it had to be waterproof (I cannot shave if not during or immediately after my shower, that would be a bloodbath) AND be very gentle to the skin.

lucerysmum, you might have just saved my life! Voted hot and here's some well deserved rep'! Thanks gary_rip too, rep'ed as well for the pointer, if it's half as good as you (and reviewers on the product's page) say it is, then £4.50 is so cheap it's not worth not giving it a try. Ordering as we speak.

[edit] oooh I never noticed bug**r was censored! sorry...

there was a glimmer of hope within ;-)

cheers btw

Spot on, prep is important. Nice hot shower and king of shaves gel works for me.

Bargain by the way, paid around £130.00 for mine and I don't regret it.

I received my shaver on Friday, and I found it already really amazing. I still have a little bit of a redness and a lasting feeling of heat on my cheeks (especially under the jaw line) but nothing I couldn't put up with.
Now, this little stick arrived yesterday and I tried it this morning before my shower. This powder is just absolutely fantastic! Not only it feels really comfortable (no rash or heat at all this morning), but it looks like I was able to shave closer than under the shower so it looks cleaner. I even managed to shave precisely around the goatee, saving me the razor finishing.

I'm a happy man!
Shame I can't give you some rep' again Gary, because I'd happily do it right now! Thanks a zillion...
