Not a bad price, plus it looks fantastic. Down from £59.99, apparently. Comes in Silver.

I love this machine but...... the pods are not available in as many places as they used to be and they are quite expensive.

My economy drive dictates that mine in gathering dust.

Did bring loads of cheap pods back from a weekend in Holland though

Anyone confirm if the hot chocolate ones on Amazon will work with this model as I am not sure if it is compatible?
Do you have to purchase the starter pack, which comes with the holder, first?

pods from a coffee shop in amsterdam???

the mind boggles (_;)

I have the older version which works really well and if you buy the "coffee duck" on Ebay you can use regular espresso coffee instead of the pads. That said, a couple of months ago they were selling the official Senseo espresso pads in Carrefour in Calais for about £1 (€1.15) for 18 which was a bargain.

Megamart.

Great deal, and anyone not wanting buy expensive pods, just get a coffeeduck and you can use any ground coffee you want.

edit: Megamart beat me to it lol, but yes, they are definitely a money saver.

If you want a frothy coffee just like a cafe then get a krups 5006 from amazon or ebay and also dolce gusto coffee pods which taste great...

seen this for the same price in sainsbury, swansea.

I will try and get a pic and post

I had one of these before. They were alright, but too strong for me.

They make tiny coffees, so I'd just make two coffees out of the one bag for a coffee that could actually fill a thimble!

They tasted alright, but I think I'd just go for Tassimo next time.

Lidl sell a range of different flavour coffee pods which work in this Senseo and they are much cheaper than the Senseo offerings.

Yep offer found a week ago - but at that time Argos site said price to 7/12, yesterday it got updated to to 14/12.
Some ideas in the thread re pod sources & replacement mechanisms...

how much do the lidl pods cost and what about the usual price of the senseo pods?

Coffee never very hot from these machines. I've now bought a Tassimo from Argos, £59.99 half price. Lovely and hot and good choice of drinks, not just coffee.

£125!!!!

Is there anywhere i can get a Kenwood Frothie?

Have one of these and have always bought the official pods but I'm always disappointed in the flavour, it doesn't compare to real filter coffee (imo) . Can anyone who has a similar experience comment on whether the lidl pods are a better flavour or if using the duck and your own coffee is an improvement?

I posted the Lidl info in last week's thread:
"Lidl do sell pods at £1.49 with I think 4 different coffee styles with 18 x 7g pods (ie 1 cup, not mug size) ie 8.3p/cup." No idea re other costs (yet).

Trick is to microwave the milk for 30-40 seconds first

got the last one in watford-waterfields phew

Anyone know if there is anything around that you can use instead of t discs for Tassimo as they are expensive. I know they have a bar code on them for the machine to read.so i have assumed that you can't use anything else. But if anyone knows different i would love to know, thanks

Nope as you say bar code reader means refillable ones aren't available

Sometimes get vouchers through from Tassimo themselves to use in online shop if you order direct from them. they also sell through Amazon and some of their bundled packs were not a bad a price

Biggest downside recently has been they discontinued the Kenco decaf which was one of my favs. Still plenty of choice in rest of range inc Starbucks and Cafe Crema's aswell as the Expresso/.Ristretto type drinks. Not a fan of the flavoured ones as they are too sickly.

Great if you like a smidgen of lukewarm coffee!

I love the my Senseo and it's definitely the cheapest machine to buy pods for. As others have mentioned you can buy a pack of Pods from Lidl for £1.49 and they come in 3 flavours - Brazil, Columbian and kenyan. I prefer the Douwe Egberts pods personally but I buy the Lidl pods too as they are nice also.

Senseo pods are not as easy to get hold of in Supermarkets as say Tassimo but most big stores will sell mild, medium and dark roast flavours. If you buy online then the Senseo probably has the largest selection of any pod machine just check this lot out directcoffeepods.co.uk/?re…B1g

or thecoffeepod.co.uk/con…tml or coffeepodshop.co.uk/shop/

and there's a great shop on ebay just search for seller doubledee_coffeepods and there are loads of other great sellers on the bay.

As for the coffee not being hot enough well that's nonsense. The Senseo like ALL coffee machines produces hot but not boiling hot black coffee as any coffee expert will tell you boiling hot water impairs the taste of good coffee. If you add cold milk to your Senseo coffee then it will be luke warm so that's why you should heat the milk in the microwave for 30 seconds. If you buy a coffee in a shop they always add warm not cold milk.

As others have said you don't even need to buy pods you can use a coffee duck or else try the cheaper and in my opinion easier Ecopads - here's a video on how to use them youtube.com/wat…Y4Q and you can buy them here attrill.com/d-e…=29

Here's a vid for coffee duck and you can buy them easilly on ebay youtube.com/wat…lVc

Thanks for the info

The pods in lidl are great, think theres three types, Kenyan, Columbian and Brazilian. All subtlety different.

I got the coffeeduck after reading review on amazon and i think they're crap. Not as nice as the pods, and no real creamy layer on top which is very nice and makes the cup of coffee for me.

Plus it heats the water to 81c, perfect for normal coffee, but not if you add milk. You need to do as someone posted earlier and heat in the microwave.

Still use it, but would spend a bit more for the tassimo i think in the future, but then again the price is nearly double.

I would still get one at this price, nice starter !

Thanks P.E. for info. The only vouchers i have had from Tassimo in 3 years was when i registered it when new., for a free pack of discs. Saying that, mine started leaking and i got in touch with Tassimo and they offered to repair or replace it free of charge. So it was picked up, replaced by a brand new one and sent back within a week ! Amazing customer service

i have a reservation code for watford-charter place if anyone wants it?

i reserved 1 at waterfields and one at charter place just in case the one in waterfields was diplay stock but it wasnt.

valid unitl the end of today

pm me for code if you want it

I bought one of these for my partner yesterday and we love it, the pods are a little expensive it seems but works out at about 18p per cup. The coffee tastes great and is foamy on top. Shame the pods online are so expensive
