You can get "pads" for this at Lidl much more cheaply than the Douwe Egberts ones.

its definitely a fad thing. we got given one for Christmas a few years back and it just sits there now. same as the Cafetiere, Panini press, steamer, egg boiler and food blitzer

great price though so heat added. Medium roast is the best flavour for my taste. you can also get Dutch Chocolate milk for it which is quite nice

No milk steamer, so you have to scold it yer microwave I suppose?

Hot! Paid 40 for this from argos last Christmas and that was a good price.

the cappuccino and latte packs come a coffee pod and milk or creamer pods to put in afterwards. Not quite proper milk though.

Anyone advise if this or the k-fee?

senseo seems to be the better known name, but think there's more options with the k-pods?

I use a Tassimo and a Cafetiere daily and a panini weekly. Not sure why you have all those useful things if you don't use them!

Clubcard Boost as well - £15 in tesco points.

I use my Senseo daily and have been for many years. It is great for making quick, tasty, mess free coffee.
I much prefer it for flavour and convenience to instant, cafetiere or espresso pot.
The pods from Lidl are good value at £1.69 for 18 - there are 3 blends to choose from (my personal favourite is Brazil).
Off to brew one now

Can it make a large mug of coffee instead of those small cups?

yes, you can just put a large mug underneath and it fills it almost to the top.

great price

That's really sensible coffee, then?

I'd like to get this for a gift for someone abroad (they are coffee lovers). I don't and can't stand coffee myself tho.

Would I need to by specialised coffee beans that are compatible with this specific make. Im not sure if that is the case this will be available in their country.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The machines take Pods, manufactured by Douwe & Egberts in conjunction with Philips

tesco.com/gro…590

There are kits that allow you to create your own pods, but I have no experience of these.

I used to use these

tesco.com/gro…256

They're like the pods above, but do a mug size rather than the small cups you'd get from the other ones.

You can get pods from the 99p store. The package is written in german, and you get 16 per pack. I double up so I get 8 coffees for a pound (12p each). I think they taste just as good as the Senseo pods.

The only drawback with tis machineis that coffee doesn't come out boiling and adding cold mild does make it a little too cool. Several people have suggested microwaving the milk, but I find just warming the mug with boiling water before pressing start does the job nicely.

My only concern is that if they are selling these off cheaply, will the pods soon stop become unavailable? Remeber this is Tesco's selling the machines at a low price, they would have more consumer insight than most.

They often have the Senseo pods in 99p Stores. We buy in bulk when they are in stock.

sorry if this is a daft question, but can these do hot chocolate?

If we all had the same tastes the world would be a boring place!

As mentioned earlier, I used to have one of these a day until my previous unit died. Had the coffee black too - wouldn't want to impair the taste!

How do you make a large cup off coffee just use the 2 cup option?

use mine every day, get a frother from ikea for a quid, heat milk for 20 seconds in microwave jobs a good un, way cheaper than tassimo or other pod machines
