I am looking for a coffee machine that takes pods and can do a large cup of coffee. I heard that the Lidl pods can be used in this machine (and other Senseo models) but am unsure if this is the best option or whether I should go for one of the other Krups-type ones and buy the pods from an online retailer. Any suggestions gratefully received.

This machine got to over 900 degress previously at this price less than a year ago.

Hi drifta, I have a Nespresso machine "takes capsules" and can truthfully say it is the best coffee I have ever had. It is a lot more expensive £149 I posted the deal when I bought mine for £99 with a free capsule holder and a £40 voucher to buy the capsules. My advice to you would be take into account the cost difference, depending on your financial circumstances. I am adding Heat as this is a great price and our site is a variety of all walks of life and we help each other when we can.

Thanks for your post and suggestions. Fully agree with you and hopefully this deal will help others or perhaps someone can find this model even cheaper!

We've used one of these since they were first introduced and it still produces the perfect cup. There are loads of different flavour coffee's available and its always possible to find one that suits your taste. Heat

Hi ive got one of these and they are great and you can buy a plastic coffee pod to put your own filter coffee in so its even cheaper to use.

Lidl pods are not very tasty.

If you've got a 99p store near to you then they usually have the real Senseo pods, even had the chocolate version recently, really nice..

Same here, have to descale it every now and then, but that's fine. We use Amazon subscribe and save for our pods.
You can also get an adaptor for this (coffee duck I think it's called) so you can use normal filter style coffee, in case you're worried about Senseo pods ever being discontinued.

Senseo is the way to go if you're budget conscious, the paper based pods are far cheaper than the Nespresso (they sponsored one of the America's cup boats, so work out where you're money is going ;-) ) and imho just as good, if not better range.

I use pods, plastic pod (eco pad) and the coffee duck, because I like to choose the coffee I put in my machine, freshly ground beans is preferable and with the eco alternative pod devices, cheaper than instant.

My Senseo is probably the most used and reliable device in my kitchen, making up to 7 cups a day for the last 5 years and my machine was secondhand off ebay for £10 - bargain.

FYI: Black at £50 at Argos. The older/simpler model at £40 [with smaller water & no descale required indicator].
