About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Looks a really good price, Argos say £20 off their usual £75 price but Amazon have it priced at £88.99.
Very good reviews on both sites and can't find it cheaper online.
Seems to be good stock (locally to me at least).
Anybody out there got one as I'm tempted.

Video comparison-ish of 3000 and 5000 series by MGTracey ..

Problem with these is the replacement heads are £30- on sale. Cheap new copies are far worse than blunt genuine heads. Seems like madness when the whole unit is often £55 on sale this time of year. I have tried sharpening philips type blades in the past but I wouldn't say it felt like a great success.

Most say use a mirror or the like with some toothpaste or grinding paste but I just feel the blades are so precisely made you can't get them back to how they were new. It feels like a horrible waste to throw the unit away but also annoying that for an extra £25 you could just get a brand new everything with warranty.

Frustratingly overpriced then like printer ink, but without good alternatives to the genuine replacements.....

You have hit the nail on its head. It is criminal waste the blade price vs head unit. I've got three shavers for that very reason

I had a Philips Series 3000 which I probably bought for about £40 and then bought an expensive Braun Series 9 foil shaver with cleaning unit. I still use the Philips - it gives a much closer cut. The Braun seems better on the first pass at the coarser level but the Philips is much better at getting closer to the skin.

Was looking at this over the weekend hoping it would drop a bit lower somewhere but it never did (think Amazon had it a penny cheaper). Looking at the video reviews, the head looks massive so will probably go for the 3000 series anyway.

    Useful video. Thanks.

Don't forget 15% off Philips code when signed up to health service discounts. I picked up a 7000 series for £99 and a Sonicare 9000 for 107 as code also works on sale items! (edited)

The Braun series 5 at 55£ on Amazon seems a better purchase

I can only see it for £65.
    You got a link?
Curious what makes it better in your opinion before I order 1 of them? (edited)

Boots frequently have this and others at better than 50% off, check in store before you buy. (edited)

Tried one but can’t get away with having to pull of the shaver head to attach the trimmer. When I want to trim sideburns prefer to just click up the trimmer. Was in a small toilet space once. My hands were wet and when I managed to pull the shaver head off it shot straight into the toilet bowl. As I wasn’t happy with the trimmer system I just binned it and went back to the 3000 series. its so frustrating that i dug out an old body previous model just for the shaver attachment to fit on. Although previous model fitted fine but got 2 units next to the sink now.
