Block out irritating background noise and enjoy your music in peace with the Philips SHN9500 noise-cancelling headphones. These headphones can actively block out 85% of background noise by using small headphone microphones and an electronic system built into the earphones to produce ‘antinoise', which matches outside noise with the sound from your audio player, effectively cancelling each other out.

The Philips SHN9500 noise-cancelling headphones are ideal for use on planes and trains, where there's a constant background noise.

These headphones play audio through their neodymium drivers, yet they are remarkably comfortable to wear. They have soft ear cushions, which enclose the speakers around the ears to create a seal preventing sound from escaping. The headband is adjustable and the 1.2m headphone cord allows you to move around easily when the Philips SHN9500 noise-cancelling headphones are connected to your portable device. A 6.35mm adaptor is included, too, so you can connect your headphones to a home hi-fi system.

These look very nice

Thank you, just ordered a pair.

very retro looking - nice. already have bose on ear and sennheiser over ear headphones so cnt justify buying these but great deal. heat added

Ordered a pair - worth a punt at this price!

Cheers OP

A lot cheaper than bose one ordered cheers op voted hot from me

Ordered, thanks mamboboy - been looking for some good, comfortable headphones under £50 with minimal sound leak for when I fly to florida in May. The Noise Cancellation is a bonus!

What Hi fi gave them 4/5 stars with a guide price of £150

Seems like a good deal - just bought a pair.

they look cool!

Are these for mp3 players or would they drain something like a Sanza Clip+ too much? The final caveat is I don't know if I want to wear £100 headphones about with the random rain we're having X)

Looks like they're battery powered, so shouldn't drain your MP3 player! Quite niffty really, although I always find AAA a pain, prefer AA's but its hardly something to soff at when you're getting an £80 pair of headphones for half the price!

bargain price, thanks

I'm tempted but to bulky for my liking to take on a plane as I like to travel lite. I must resist.

these are quite good i had these to use on the ps3 when my wife was in bed before i got a bluetooth set when i bought a new tv with bluetooth

I think the battery would be for the noise cancelling...

Can anyone confirm these are effective against droning women in the region of 100 decibels ?

so they are wireless with option to connect cable or what?

One consideration is where this battery goes in. I had a pair of Philips noise-cancelling buds, and the battery and on/off switch were on a hideously bulky unit at an annoying halfway point down the cable. Fine for on the plane when you're not moving around, but for everyday use it was just a nuisance, forever getting snagged on things.

Have this they are excellent value and great for noice cancellation works well on trains, planes and automobiles

so they are wired and yet it needs a AAA battery?

Yes, the AAA battery is used by the noise cancelling part.

Noise cancelling takes electronics, hence the battery.

Would consider these but wonder on the battery life, rechargable AAAs are quite low mAh usually.

Oh.. was not aware of that then... Is this normal for all noise cancelling headphones?

Its normal for all Active noise cancelling headphones.

Temping deal. Will save for later.

That's how I read i toot- that they have option of both..but as barman clarified, they're wired. ta barman for the info. box doesn't show a transmitter either to enable wireless

Looks pretty good and a lot less than Bose

Thanks, bought a pair.

Bose have sold out and aren't what they used to be anymore. I'd go for these over overpriced Bose any day!
