No that was the non ambilight version
Ooops i missed that bit. Same price as the non ambilight version?

Might need to do some research on it. I was looking at the LG43UJ759V, i think thats the model.

Wow. I know everyone’s requirements can vary. But I’m surprised that many people would find this deal better than the Sammy 40MU6120 posted yesterday.

...which is perhaps a a better all-round entry level big brand TV for significantly less money (?)

I suppose if the extra 3” is very important to you, then this one Top Trumps the Sammy.
But am just interested in what swayed you towards this one.

The Samsung is out of stock at PRC Direct, and so John Lewis rejected my Price Match request, making this 'only' £20 more for those extra 3in and ambilight

Well, if it’s largely because you think that the ‘better’ deal of the Sammy is no longer being price-matched by JL, then I have some good news for you. If you look through the later posts, you’ll see that it’s still being price-matched because RGB Direct still have it in stock at £289.

I’m sure there is someone who absolutely NEEDS 43” and not 40” - and so might unfortunately need to pay £80 more for this Philips than the Sammy, despite arguably its worse screen, inferior Smart UI, and much shorter warranty period. But I suspect those people are fairly few - and so wanted to help by pointing everyone else back at the great Sammy deal that WilliamHSs and pavel76 uncovered.

HTH.

I looked at which reviews and it's got a pretty good rating
I got to ask what the fundamental differences are between this and the Sammy 40mu6120?

I paid a lot over the odds for the LG 43u750v as space was a factor and 43 was the largest I could fit in the space available.
I'm really hoping the model I got is worth the price. The active local dimming is really, really bad! So that stays off. Although you then end up with light bleed in the bottom!
