Care with this, although it's a great price, I think it will only work with messenger, not Skype or other Voip providers.

Hi, this is a nice phone and thanks for posting. Just stumbled upon a similar phone for £19 + £3.95 for delivery. Currently out of stock but will get an email about the stock.

A good price either way!!

Was looking at this on john lewis a few months back and it was 60 odd, and also seen it in comet for around that price at the weekend so good price.have just ordered! thanks

the one at john lewis is the same phone but cheaper, assuming it comes back into stock. if it was skype i'd jump on it.

will it work on sipgate.co.uk??

probably not.

Think this will be good for contacting friends who are on xbox live now its linked to Messenger. Cant see it coming back in stock at john lewis at this price, but if it did even better.

Could any of you say whether this would work with yahoo messenger voice chat? Or is anyone aware of a DECT phone which could work with Yahoo Messenger

if it's branded windows live then chances are it will not work with anything else.

But in the below link for amazon:
amazon.co.uk/exe…V0/
its being described as also skype compatible phone. Nothing abt yahoo.

I bought this from amazon (the link above) just last week for £40 + del, under the impression it worked with Skype. It probably arrived today, if it doesn't work with Skype I'm going to shoot myself

I think they are flooding the market with these at the moment - I can get one from my supplier for £17...

I use internetcalls.com, much cheaper than Skype and very robust

I thought I saw the Twin pack in Comet for around £40....Not sure as I didnt really take note of it.

VOIP = Windows Live Calls only. Hope this clears it up

Im sure VOIP stands for Voice over internet protocol?

I guess you mean that THIS phone is designed for Windows Live/Messengers calls only?
As from my experience, VOIP can be used with just about any widespread OS and you don't even need PC for it.

i'm using VOIP on my Nokia N80

Will get the JohnLewis one if it comes back into stock as I am ideally after a phone that will work via skype

Will this work with Vista? I have had a couple of Philips VoIp phones in the past and neither were Vista compatible.

Steve

Ignore my question above, i've just had a look at the spec on the website and it still looks like this one plugs into the computer via USB so Vista will be a nightmare again with no driver release aaarrgghh, the hub with it is just to ebable analog line and computer at the same time.

Still an excellent price though if you are using XP,

Steve

I found a cordless phone which supports yahoo messenger. But could not find any retailer selling it in UK.

If anyone has any clue on any UK dealer selling this for cheap, please post the required links here.

Yes

this shows you how to use the messenger phone and tells you a little about the phone

oh its usb? eww i thought it'd be ethernet!

Buy ATA and plug to it any phone you like then

I just got a mail from John Lewis stating that this wont be coming in stock with them in the coming days and to go for an alternative.. Guess that kills the last hope of getting this phone at a dirt cheap price... :-(

Also received an email from John Lewis to say that the item is unlikely to come back into stock

Which do you recommend?

I am using Zoom 5801, others recommend Sipura or Grandstream.
