Was in Sainsbury's this evening and they have these on sale. I don't know much about the camera but it has some decent reviews online and the original price matches those at Argos etc.

It was 'instore' guys. I've looked on their website and the only one I can see listed is this one... sainsburys.co.uk/sol…342

I was in the Whitley Bay branch but there may be others stocking it.

Also instore in Heyford Hill Oxford.

It's only a 1.3MP camera. Okish if you use it once a year or so, but would have to be used at a small resolution.

I currently own a MS VX6000 for the last 2 years, and that's a 1.3MP camera / 5MP images. It's served me well, but I believe Phillips have a HD model around somewhere. It was around £50 last year so it's probably gone down by half since then as newer models have been released. If I find it, I'll put it on here. Personally I'd rather spend a bit more. You get what you pay for sadly, and the camera on here is no different to the "no-name" webcams that flood ebay from China.

... but for a tenner you can hardly argue.

Of course! For a tenner - it is indeed a bargain. I haven't voted, but will probably do so as HOT. But you do tend to get what you pay for with electronics.

Good way to make money during the credit crunch.

Especially if you're as beautiful as me.

Anyone know if this'll work with a PS3?

They've got this instore at Beeston Sainsbury's too, in the sale section.

They didn't have a price on it last night, which is why I didn't buy and I didn't have time to hang around to find out. Hopefully they'll still have some left when I return tonight

It's not even a true 1.3MP (it has a VGA sensor 640x480). The VX-6000 is true 1.3 MP (the 5MP extrapolated software resolution).

Saying that for a under a tenner ok.

Searching around it seems this is a photo from this webcam:

Liar! I bet you just took that screenshot! ;-)

Grrrr I just typed a nice long message but when I pressed backspace, it took me back a page. How annoying.

Anyway... I'll repeat but in brief.

Paid around £55 for the VX-6000 when it originally came out. Was good then. It's **** now. Colour bleeds, so I'm using it in B&W only.

The webcam I'm definately thinking about getting is the Philips SPC1030NC - consumer.philips.com/c/w…hk/

Features a true 1.3MP video, and 8MP photos.

Amazon are selling this, but at the moment it's via a 3rd party - and it's circa £56. Not a chance.

Pixmania have it for under £30 but... it's Pixmania. I needn't say no more, but for £30... it's a huge saving for what appears to be a fantastic webcam.

That GFQ guy's hair scares me!

Tesco did a nice sale on Logitech, which are much better quality. VGA was just under 10 pounds, and 1.3 MP just over. So I think this is a rather mediocre offer.

I think VGA is quite ok for video conferencing, if it is sharp and clear. I paid a bit more for my logitech E3500, which also has a VGA sensor, and I am quite happy with it. Somehow I never had a Philips webcam that I liked...
