Bought it from Amazon and it was recommended by Which, so I thought at that price I was onto a winner..
Sadly it just didnt do the job well enough for me.. so I sent it back. Excellent Amazon returns under the reason "not fit for purpose it was bought for".
There are 2xAA batteries included in the package and they do provide enough power to run it but enough compared to a mains shaver, it took off the fluff but couldnt cope with the Grizzle stubble.
Good looking design, light and ideal for travel but not powerful enough even with my 2500mh batteries in it.

I've got one and while I don't use it at home it's great for travelling.

I just ordered one. Looking at one similar in asda for £14 so glad I didn't get it.
But like SImplicity said, can return it if it doesn't do the job.

in tesco cardiff extra. cost only 1.50
a whole shelve of it
selling really fast though

I had about £4 of Amazon voucher to spend so just cost me a fiver, great as son keeps stealing mine for the fluff that he dares to call stubble

nice little backup razor.. I normally wet shave but I keep one in the office for those mornings where I am not quite ready for my day H&R added

I've got one of these and a HQ6645 (100-240v Mains shaver)
And I have to say... The HQ40 isn't exactly bad... It's not an everyday shaver but it's perfect to take on holiday, camping, caravaning, hostpital or keep in the glove box incase you get to work/interview and find out you've forgotten to shave!
Or even someones first shaver...

You've got to clean them after every shave though (most people don't) and dismatling the blades and adding clipper oil (or WD-40) after cleaning with water helps a lot!

Also useful if you've got another HQ with broken/worn blades... as you can swap and change the blades... Worth £8 to get your fav shaver working again! (saves Philips prices for replacements)

It would seem that these brown and grey ones have been replaced by all black ones HQ40/B
amazon.co.uk/Phi…R1Gstill showing old photo!
(£11.74 + £2.45 shipping) that is why these have been getting sold off

If you prefer the black one Dixons have price matched it

ideal for travelling

I have one - for my locker in work. It's a great little thing - bought it ages ago, and still on same set of batteries.

This won't be your main shaver, but to cover up a bit of growth near the end of the it's ace!

This looks like the kind of shaver my uncle had back in the 70's.

for the price ill give it a go...thanks!

do you have a bush to shave ?

just joking, I have one 5 years ago , it does the job fine, the blade start to cut skin after a year or two. I have the F1 model now, not really better than this old dog.

DONT BUY THIS.
I bought this and it is so weak that it barely shaves.
I posted it back and they charged me £5 handling fee.
