They get warm but don't hit the levels of the old type, I transferred over 200gb in the new type in one go and found it ok to touch it straight away. The old type become hotter than the end of a seat belt on a hot day.

Would you use in the car...nice to use in the hot.

Hear hear..

Got the 32GB plugged in to my tv, it got really hot. After reading the other comments on here, I probably won't be buying another one.

Lot of reviews saying that one gets very hot too?

Sandisk Ultra Dual USB TypeC Flash Drive 128GB £29.29 PicStop

Buying a new laptop with USB C ports I decided to get this USB flash drive which saves me carrying converters/adapters. Originally looking at the size from the picture it looks bi… Read more

I use my full-size/micro usb drive all the time for taking media around - I can plug the full size USB into my desktop to copy files on to the drive, then drop it in my pocket. Then I can watch films etc on my tablet or phone without needing to actually copy them to the device - much easier (for me and my usage) than a device with a single connector. Not for everyone, but there is a definite use for this kind of drive. However if you'll only ever use one end or the other I agree this would be a poor deal.

Interesting thanks for the feedback :) I’ve got a MacBook Pro which has USB C and my Work desktop is a windows machine with the traditional USB 3.0 so got it thinking it be practical

I've owned this drive for 6 months now and personally wouldn't recommend it. I initially bought it thinking "Wow! I can plug this into my laptop and phone!" but I've found in reality I rarely use both connections. It's been much easier to just connect my devices directly via a cable. Build quality feels cheap; very plasticy and the slider feels delicate and flimsy. The novelty wears off quickly. The drive gets hot but not unbearably so. These things always arrive smaller than expected. The speed feels on the slow side but not unbearably; Enabling 'write caching' helps a bit with this. I would personally recommend just getting a USB 3.0 or a USB-C drive (one connection, not switching between the two) and using that instead. The build quality, thermals and speeds would all be better. I wouldn't knock someone for getting this drive, just personally not for me.

Not used this drive, but I have a few of the dual USB3/microUSB version that are in constant use and I've not had any break on me yet - sliders all work perfectly still. If this is similarly robust then it should last.

heres an amazon review: By "typically" I mean not massively fast, but at the expected speed most of these 150MB/s flash drives are rated for. - Test setup (March 2018): Straight into a Thunderbolt 3, 2016 15" fully spec'd Apple MacBook Pro. Using this SanDisk 64GB drive in new/unused/pre-formatted (FAT32) condition, straight out the packaging. Tested using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test, at Blackmagic's 1GB and 5GB sizes. Using the drive's USB-C plug or it's USB-A plug (with an Aukey USB-C-to-USB-A adapter) directly into the MBP: 50-60 (write) / 160-170 (read). - Result: So read's on an empty drive are as expected, write's are a bit slow; but TBH they're well within what most of these flash drives' performances tend to be that advertise themselves at the "150MB/s" rated standard.

32 gb sd card ideal for YI Home cameras - £8.99 @ PicStop

I’ve got a 32gb on my front door camera and been installed for around 3 months and still hasn’t over written, that’s why I just got this card and not the endurance one. All depends as above post says.

The answer to your question depends on how you set it up. If you set the camera to only record when it detects motion, then it wil start overwriting only when its full. In reality that could be days, or indeed weeks, depending on how much motion the camera detects. If you set the camera to record constantly, then someone who knows much more than me about these things will be able to work it out.

I didnt take the risk, ended up going with the endurance cards on amazon which are designed for cctv systems

Just ordered 2 of the YI cameras, how long will 32GB give you before it starts overwriting? just pondering whether to got for 64GB for extra £5 each.

Look everyone be quiet and enjoy 32gb of space

I’d recommend a couple of these for a DSLR. Not at this price mind. They usually drop to around £20. Set a price alert on Camels X 3. Lexar Professional 64 GB Class 10 UHS-II 1000x Speed (150 MB/s) SDXC Flash Memory Card

has anyone ever had issues while using microSD in DSLR cameras? This size/speed/capacity ratio is very tempting but adding another step of failure (of SD Adapter) is a bit worrying for me.

Basically means it's suitable for 4k recording. This'll work in a GoPro 6 Black at the full 4k @ 60fps no problem.

What does the 3 in the bucket signify? I thought we had to look for a 10 there.

Hot deal, though prices are surprisingly low across the board now. By contrast this is £33 at Amazon. You can get the SanDisk Ultra 128Gb for under 30 @ Amazon. I haven't had issues with either Samsung or SanDisk brands - I've really only had bad cards when I've bought from a dodgy source, or tried a no-name brand.

It is not suitable for a dashcam at all. Sandisk do make a high endurance card but that isn't much cop either

They may be right but my I have got one in my phone and one in my alarm system camera and never had any issues over the past 2 years. I am expecting a card to be reliable and to work as it should, but if it lasts me 2-3 years, that is fine with me considering the price.

NCIS Perhaps the above is why not many hot votes. There are many good alternatives but our only warning is to avoid using Sandisk Ultra cards. Users and dash cam manufacturers have both reported problems with the Ultra’s reliability and speed. Also no warranty on these Sandisk Ultra cards if used in dashcams or security cameras.

Don't know why cold, perhaps something similar was posted at a decent price, or people found 64-128gb for only a few pounds extra. However, these are good for IP/dash cameras, baby monitors, alarm systems. These only support 32gb. Decent brand, class 10, decent price in my opinion. Not everybody needs 128gb and if you don't need so much storage, even £1 extra is a waste. Voted hot.

really? Owch... Good job I live close by and can just pick things up whenever (nerd)

Endurance is the main issue here. This is rated for up to 5,000 hours of Full HD video recording which for someone driving 50 hours per week equates to around 2 years which is the same as the warranty length. So for non professional drivers this should last longer than the dashcam.

I mean, it should do that but it’s hard to tell. Also cards shouldn’t fail within months as they’ll be nowhere near the MTBF or whatever the equivalent is for disk writing. I just think if it was more reliable getting a big SD card, that’s what people would recommend not small specialist models.

If the dashcam erases the oldest recordings first won't that have the same effect as wear leveling? This provided it fills the drive before erasing anything which would be the logical way to do it.

The SD spec doesn’t account for wear levelling though so I’m still not convinced you can count on getting a bigger card to avoid endurance issues.

I wouldn't dream scratching someone's precious car...esp Aston Martin?! Just found a very good video, you may want to invest in a good dashcam with "parking mode" "motion detection" If your car is new/expensive, or carry work tools inside.

I do remember that lol

I told her that who wants to steal £15 dash cam? but then thieves can't tell how much cams cost so they may just take a chance. But then.. do you remember this : Shocking dashcam footage shows man with a pushchair 'running a KEY along the side of an £100,000 Aston Martin and causing £9,000 worth of damage <---If you Google it, Daily Mail article will pop up.

I leave mine on all the time, I suppose I should take it off really.

I've purchased before from mymemory all working fine here Samsung 64GB Pro Plus Micro SD Card was retail fully sealed parkaging, this was back in december, the memory is in my phone now works flawlessly.

Ah, not sure I've seen any complaints before, although that speed doesn't seem good, warning for windows seem to happen all the time though

MyMemory are fake. I've bought from them the card is fake; the silicone is visible on the back of the card where it shouldnt be and tests showed that the card under performed by around 65mb/s and then had various reformatting issues.... and a warning from windows relating to the storage method...

Thanks for the link it explains what card I need well. Cheers. (y)

Old man Google is best.... Leave it to you

Thanks for explaining that, I will have to look into "High Endurance Cards" Do they class U3 cards high endurance if they don't what Read and Write speeds do they class as high endurance.

Def NOT..... dash cams write to card over and over again in a continual loop. Eventually these will fail within 12m or sooner.... Or you might be lucky and get more mileage. I realised after chewing through 2 of these exact same cards in less than 18m. Yet in my phones I've had the same one for 3 years. General consensus is to use 'high endurance' rated cards..... But flip is not as cheap as these. OP have some 🔥

I would also like to know would this be suitable for a Nextbase Duo Dashcam.

Well, feck - I spent a pound more for a very similar card a few hours before this deal was posted. (from picstop) Meh. I'm not gonna get upset about spending a pound more than I should...... ...honest! :p

Would this be ok in a PS VIta does anyone know (obvs with a SD2VITA adapter)? Or would this be slow for loading games etc?

Bought a memory stick from these guys on ebay with item location Manchester. Says they are vat registered on the listing so can claim the vat back as buying for a business. But when the item came it came from Finland or somewhere and they couldnt issue me a vat invoice. Ended up sending it back to the Isle of Mann just out of principle bloody tax dodgers!

I knew what he meant, I was trying to be funny.

What he means is 30% of Sandisk branded memory cards are fakes. Probably the same for Samsung Evo too. Dont buy memory cards from Ebay or Amazon Market place.
