Good point.

I would be curious to know how a read speed of 80MB/s was achieved over USB 2.0, since that tops out at 480Mb/s.

Heat :)

It’s £11.99. You can’t get anywhere near that really, about the next best is twice the price. You can’t have everything and this seems pretty quick for USB2.0 anyway. If I’m copying big files I just start it and walk off, fine for media.

What's ideal then for USB 3.0 with fast read and write speeds? This is cheap, but I'd rather have something that doesn't take an age to copy large files. Might be worth just getting an ssd and 2.5" enclosure instead.

Dammit, bought a 16 gb sandisk from amazon yesterday for more than that.

Indestructible?? I had one and the plastic in the corner snapped to fell off the key chain, had it in my wallet and it cracked real quick so stopped connecting.

I had one of these and the plastic USB connector cracked after time so it doesn't make a particularly reliable connection anymore.

The Cruzers are slow but reliable and nearly indestructable. I have a 16 gig that is 8 years old at least (on the right in the photo) and a 128 gig.

My "Yi" dashcam also requires SD card with 80mbps write speed but this one works perfectly fine and never had any issue. I tried a class 4 cheap card which claims that the write speed is over 80mpbs but that card failed.

Won't work with my cam as it needs 80 Mb/s write speed.

They're referring to the SD card's write endurance until it fails. I believe the bitrate they test at is 30Mbps which is probably 10x higher than a dashcam would record at so it may last longer than they specify.

obvious misprint,i assume when they say Up to 10,000 hours of Full HD video recording for 64GB- i think they meant to say up to 10 hours of Full HD video recording for 64GB - which is more like it at 6.4gb per hour

In what universe is 1 hour of 1080p footage 64Mb? Their estimates are totally out.

Has anyone actually received their order? I ordered on the 1st and still not received anything.

That's funny, I won't touch Corsair memory anymore as they did the very same thing with there XMS2 DDR2 memory, In all the reviews it would overclock and got glowing reviews, Stuff they sold to the public had different chips and would only run at stock and not 1 MHz more.

All the kingston products I have bought in past have been dreadful! slow, with problems, and they just stop working after some time. Not trusting my data to kingston! Hot for the price, ULTRA SUPER COLD For the Kingston tho..

Ordered, thanks

Yes. Did a bait and switch on one earlier model sending fast drives to reviewers and slower ones to shops on launch. Was a big blunder and no one has ever let Kingston forget it. Still 240GB for £30 was too good to resist and I got this at the lower price.

Toshiba FlashAir W-04 Wi-Fi SDXC Flash Memory Card 64GB £29.99 @ PicStop
Found 1st OctFound 1st Oct
Was on the look out for one of these WiFi sd cards and thought this was a good price for a 64gb version. Topcashback available too.

I bought one of these a few months ago and had to return it. The software app refused to link up to the card. Buy a USB-C card reader and get images on to your phone that way.

I put a FlashAir in a Sony Nex-7. The missus likes to post occasional long lens pics direct to social media. Pics that a phone could never take. It's a quick way to get the pics into an iPhone to do that, no extra cables to carry, no faff of removing the SD card and putting it into a card reader.

I know at the cost of paying an inflated price for an sd card - I'd rather pay less for a 128gb U3 card and use a wired connection where I know what the connection speed will be and that there won't be any dropouts. For me, these cards hold no positives, but they might be really useful for the op so I'm not voting either way.

This does away withthe cable and card reader.

Ordered thanks Pdp16 It's a good price for 64GB - £32.99 for 32GB on Amazon and £45.70 for 64GB.

SanDisk build these by the million and know exactly how hot they get. They operate within design spec for for the components. Just like the flash chips that get hot inside phones etc. Google gloves for snow flakes if they get too hot for your snesitive little hands. Burns my arse.

The Samsung has a better design but the write speed is only 50MB/s. I wanted a drive with a fast write speed.

My 64GB one got so hot that I could only use it with a USB extension cord to give it more air cooling - which of makes it kind of pointless as a small device!

the new samsung fit plus drives are faster and smaller

Nah, it's all over now, he has won big time. Given his grasp of the technology, and the difference between mbps, MB, and all other variations of capitalisation in between, and other bits and bobs, I had no chance. I think I am just stupid (is that a contradiction?). Thinking about it (which is in itself going to be limited), there is a chance I probably just inserted a piece of the packaging in the device, or some random bit of plastic, instead of the actual SD card, and this could just explain many of the issues I have had. To be fair, those micro SD cards are so small now that anything can happen. I wish they would make them 3.5" floppy disk size (and that would leave also plenty of space for a nice label!). As he wisely said all along, user errors should never be overlooked...

Nope, card was bought from Amazon directly, and was in a retail package. I would never buy an SD card (of any brand) from a marketplace seller, or a non-reputable seller on ebay, given the large number of fake cards around...

Marketplace seller by any chance?

Well evo plus as pictured in this deal only does U3 to my knowledge for this memory size. I know you can get the 32GB model is U1 though. Its also the same card listed previously in amazon deal for same card. Their larger 128gb model is also U3 but doesn't state it also showing U3 in picture but as ordering from them previously that one was also U3 i found out on arrival.

Also where does it say its a U3 everywhere i look on the page is on U1

oos my ultra just broke :(

No experience with Sandisk ultras for quite a few years after I had a new genuine one bought from Tesco's die on me containing loads of photos so I've always given them a miss. I have an Endurance like in this deal and it's worked fine for 3 months in a dash camera.

TBH, it's been in a phone to start, failed in that, then the next one did, then the next. Now it's in a dash cam its failed again. I'm running out of places to use it without it failing! Have you had a positive experience with these? I'm rather hesitant to buy another SanDisk.

If did reliably some 45mb/s write, would be rated v30/u3 which isnt

Maybe. It was an ultrabook with an integrated PCIe reader but there wasn’t a condition set on how to get to that speed. I doubt you’d find a 200GB card for under £30 anytime soon.

doubt it does so in anything other than a sd card reader on a PC. anyway. any other (cheaper) card can do 70-90MB/s

I use my full-size/micro usb drive all the time for taking media around - I can plug the full size USB into my desktop to copy files on to the drive, then drop it in my pocket. Then I can watch films etc on my tablet or phone without needing to actually copy them to the device - much easier (for me and my usage) than a device with a single connector. Not for everyone, but there is a definite use for this kind of drive. However if you'll only ever use one end or the other I agree this would be a poor deal.

Interesting thanks for the feedback :) I’ve got a MacBook Pro which has USB C and my Work desktop is a windows machine with the traditional USB 3.0 so got it thinking it be practical

I've owned this drive for 6 months now and personally wouldn't recommend it. I initially bought it thinking "Wow! I can plug this into my laptop and phone!" but I've found in reality I rarely use both connections. It's been much easier to just connect my devices directly via a cable. Build quality feels cheap; very plasticy and the slider feels delicate and flimsy. The novelty wears off quickly. The drive gets hot but not unbearably so. These things always arrive smaller than expected. The speed feels on the slow side but not unbearably; Enabling 'write caching' helps a bit with this. I would personally recommend just getting a USB 3.0 or a USB-C drive (one connection, not switching between the two) and using that instead. The build quality, thermals and speeds would all be better. I wouldn't knock someone for getting this drive, just personally not for me.

Not used this drive, but I have a few of the dual USB3/microUSB version that are in constant use and I've not had any break on me yet - sliders all work perfectly still. If this is similarly robust then it should last.

heres an amazon review: By "typically" I mean not massively fast, but at the expected speed most of these 150MB/s flash drives are rated for. - Test setup (March 2018): Straight into a Thunderbolt 3, 2016 15" fully spec'd Apple MacBook Pro. Using this SanDisk 64GB drive in new/unused/pre-formatted (FAT32) condition, straight out the packaging. Tested using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test, at Blackmagic's 1GB and 5GB sizes. Using the drive's USB-C plug or it's USB-A plug (with an Aukey USB-C-to-USB-A adapter) directly into the MBP: 50-60 (write) / 160-170 (read). - Result: So read's on an empty drive are as expected, write's are a bit slow; but TBH they're well within what most of these flash drives' performances tend to be that advertise themselves at the "150MB/s" rated standard.

I’ve got a 32gb on my front door camera and been installed for around 3 months and still hasn’t over written, that’s why I just got this card and not the endurance one. All depends as above post says.

The answer to your question depends on how you set it up. If you set the camera to only record when it detects motion, then it wil start overwriting only when its full. In reality that could be days, or indeed weeks, depending on how much motion the camera detects. If you set the camera to record constantly, then someone who knows much more than me about these things will be able to work it out.

I didnt take the risk, ended up going with the endurance cards on amazon which are designed for cctv systems

Just ordered 2 of the YI cameras, how long will 32GB give you before it starts overwriting? just pondering whether to got for 64GB for extra £5 each.

I’d recommend a couple of these for a DSLR. Not at this price mind. They usually drop to around £20. Set a price alert on Camels X 3. Lexar Professional 64 GB Class 10 UHS-II 1000x Speed (150 MB/s) SDXC Flash Memory Card

has anyone ever had issues while using microSD in DSLR cameras? This size/speed/capacity ratio is very tempting but adding another step of failure (of SD Adapter) is a bit worrying for me.

Basically means it's suitable for 4k recording. This'll work in a GoPro 6 Black at the full 4k @ 60fps no problem.

What does the 3 in the bucket signify? I thought we had to look for a 10 there.

Hot deal, though prices are surprisingly low across the board now. By contrast this is £33 at Amazon. You can get the SanDisk Ultra 128Gb for under 30 @ Amazon. I haven't had issues with either Samsung or SanDisk brands - I've really only had bad cards when I've bought from a dodgy source, or tried a no-name brand.

It is not suitable for a dashcam at all. Sandisk do make a high endurance card but that isn't much cop either

They may be right but my I have got one in my phone and one in my alarm system camera and never had any issues over the past 2 years. I am expecting a card to be reliable and to work as it should, but if it lasts me 2-3 years, that is fine with me considering the price.

NCIS Perhaps the above is why not many hot votes. There are many good alternatives but our only warning is to avoid using Sandisk Ultra cards. Users and dash cam manufacturers have both reported problems with the Ultra’s reliability and speed. Also no warranty on these Sandisk Ultra cards if used in dashcams or security cameras.

Don't know why cold, perhaps something similar was posted at a decent price, or people found 64-128gb for only a few pounds extra. However, these are good for IP/dash cameras, baby monitors, alarm systems. These only support 32gb. Decent brand, class 10, decent price in my opinion. Not everybody needs 128gb and if you don't need so much storage, even £1 extra is a waste. Voted hot.
