Wow, that was a quick price drop. It didn't make the Top 40 video games chart so I'm guessing that's the reason.

Never played any of the Pikmin games on the Gamecube, so I'm very tempted by this.

ooh thanks my boys want this
is it any good tho ?
and can anyone find it any cheaper?

Pikmin on Gamecube was fantastic - if a little easy, and I suspect it will be perfectly suited to some new Wii controls.

Was one of the best titles for the cube

So little new ideas they bring out old games on a new console
Shame really.

Pikmin 3 is out at the end of the year, they're merely re-hashes to get the casual crowd hooked on the series in anticipation for it.

this looks quite silly and fun

You say that like its a bad thing,i would love a full revamp of Metal Gear Solid on a new console, wish they would bring it out again on PS3 or Xbox 360

I would wait for Pikmin 2 to come out personally - same concept but longer game, two player, no silly time limits - generally better all round. It is coming out in Q2 (Spring). Saying that, they are both classic games

i have both on pikmin 1+2 on gamecube
can get 1st for £10....2nd for £20
invest in these
both MEGA games to play

controller is far easier to use than the wii controls

Yea but this is the exact same game with new controlls.

One of my fave games from the last gen. Superb.

As a fellow poster has said - they are re-releasing these games as there is a brand new Pikmin 3 coming out later this year. By putting this out there they allow the "soccer moms" and those new to Nintendo to buy it for their kids and see what it is like for £19.99 rather than spending £39.99 on a game they have no idea what it's about.

Its a very good idea since only 10 million bought the gamecube, and the Wii has expanded the gaming market to people who would not have played quality titles like this before, or even gamers who spent the last gen playing different genres of games. I imagine the critics would be happy if Nintendo released a Call of Duty 1,2,3,4,5 clone or GTA 3, 4, 5......clone. Personally I think this is a move that is good for gamers in the long run.

Have you used the Wii controls? I was hoping they might be better for Pikmin (not that there was anything wrong with the original control method)?

from eurogamer

"The point-and-click (or rather, point-and-throw) interface for assigning Pikmin to tasks makes the game an obvious candidate for a Wii makeover. The cursor is now directed just by pointing the Wii remote - in the GameCube version, both cursor and Olimar's movement were combined on the stick. Naturally, use of the pointer is extremely fast and intuitive. The remainder of the controls - dismiss and divide Pikmin, summon with whistle, throw, cycle between types - are roughly similar.

The only exception is direct command of your squad, who in the GameCube version could be moved around with the C-stick to keep them out of harm's way, or push them into nearby tasks. This is now accomplished by holding down on the d-pad and directing with the pointer. If anything, it's slightly more cumbersome than it was before, but then again the ease of pointer control means you'll be using it less.

The best thing you can say about New Play Control! Pikmin is that you'll have stopped thinking about its selling point within minutes of starting to play. The controls are so lucid and transparent, and the game itself is so absorbing, that your attention immediately goes elsewhere. Getting to grips with the original certainly wasn't this easy. But it's also fair to say that GameCube Pikmin did such a good job within the limitations of the pad - elegant control schemes and their synergy with game design being Miyamoto's chief genius, after all - that the difference between the two versions isn't as great as you might have thought.

Aside from the controls, Pikmin has been left virtually untouched by Nintendo"

Lies. Pikmin 3 hasnt been confirmed or shown in any way. Also, have you even played Pikmin 1 or 2? Far from a casual game. You have either been misinformed or are rival fanboy.

Actually, Miyamoto was recently quoted as saying that they're working on Pikmin for the wii. Not these conversion titles.

You can reverse the covers on these so you can have the original gamecube cove, instead of looking at the ugly wii one.

Great game will get the 2nd one as I didn't get it on the good old Cube

Oh Nintendo this re-releases should have been £20 not £30

Amazing game - the sequel was better I hear, but I loved this game to bits. The original controls were the best you could expect for a pad, and now the new play control should make it even easier to target huge ladybirds and fire pikmin at it!
Also, this game did have a 30-day (in-game time) limit, which was removed in Pikmin 2 - apparently this Wii version has a compromise - it auto-saves every day, so you can go back to any day and continue from that point, so it saves you getting to day 25 and realising there's no chance of you finishing it withhin 30 days no matter how hard you try (I learned the hard way!).

Cracking deal, much better than half the tripe on sale at 39.99+ for most consoles.
