Sounds good, looks nice and gets decent reviews (http://www.trustedreviews.com/home-cinema/review/2007/12/24/Pioneer-DCS-370-5-1-Channel-Home-Cinema-System/p1)

May I add this is multi-region.

The next cheapest is £219

its a shame really as a gd price, but has no optical inputs, so u no 5.1 if u connect a ps3,360 sky HD etc

plus it only upscales to 1080i
the panasonic scpt 850 or scpt550 cost roughly the same (the 850 is £280 ish) upscales to 1080p and has one optical input
Ive got my eye on a good all in one system so if anyone can point me in the right direction for a good and modestly priced one im all ears!

i went for the sony hts1100 surround (£180-£220) and the samsung HD870 dvd player, for surround sound also look at the DDW790 on pixmania for £160 + p&p

Original Poster

miserablemiser You need to spend around £300 for 1080p and optical input:

The Pioneer DCS-370 is a respectable all-in-one for the bedroom or light use in the living room.

yeah im on hunt for a system, was tempted by the sony htsf1100 at round £250, but the new all singing and dancing sony htsf2000( £319) is about to hit our shores, so am keeping hold of me money until then:thumbsup:
although another gd package for round £200 is the yamaha av61, but u need to add a dvd player

Just posted a Sony DVD system that has all the things you are griping about HDMI & Optical In

azstar - your right - and for the bedroom or light use in the living room im not knocking this - i think its great - you can get the Panasonic scpt550 for around £250 and that one gets good reviews it has 1080p and optical in.
its just mind boggling the amount of different specs and features and different combinations for all in one/seperates there is out there- im just in the process of going through the maze to get something thats cheap around £300 and something that will accompany my Panasonic TH42PZ70
