Do people still nick car radios ?

Based purely on badge snobbery, I'd be looking at the Alpine for 145 - halfords.com/web…655

What is that statement based on? Given that your pushing a chinese stereo over this ill guess your in the know. Whilst im not necessarily saying this is a great unit. Ive never used it so couldnt comment... telling us pioneer are not a good brand is a ridiculous statement.

I would recommend anybody considering this discard that comment go down and try and feel the unit for yourself. Certainly seems a good price and I do know that the parrot/pioneer pairing works well in the high end units, if thats the main factor on buying this.

This has convinced me to buy, I'd been looking at this unit to replace existing X-Trail unit and the additional 10% swung it. I'm aware that I'll need a wiring harness, possibly an adaptor mount and steering wheel remote interface cable, can anyone recommend a good source for these items. I've had a quick look and these three additional items are going to cost more than the radio.

Final point about the Android units, which did interest me, they are double the cost so not a fair comparison at £250 v £103

I've just fitted this unit to the Wife's car to give her hands free calling (amongst other things). Very impressed for the price. I bought all the relevant adapters to fit into the C-MAX without cutting any wires though (including the steering wheel controls adapter). Well worth the extra cost (from eBay not halfords). Took me all of 30 mins to fit including running the mike wire.

Quick question does anyone know if this functions properly with an iPhone 5 /5s (using the lightning cable as opposed to the old dock connector) and also using iTunes Match where you are sometimes streaming the tracks and they are not all stored on the phone.

I only ask as a few friends cars i've used the usb lead in play funny and random tracks start playing and not the one selected.

Have this stereo and you can't go wrong for the money

Bluetooth audio is great from an iphone (you can do navigation with audio etc...) - you can even activate siri from the headunit which could be handy for some. If you plug it in with a lead you get more control over the library and charging etc... although I tend to use bluetooth for the convenience.

I would recommend it ( especially at this cost ) just factor in these down points to decide whether you want to spend more:

* have found the radio reception to not be as strong as my factory unit was
* the illumination is quite bright even with the dimmer setting active
* can not remove the face plate but then I'm not sure anyone is going to bother breaking in to steal this (more interested in DVD/satnav models?)

Pioneer is a good brand, but I am on a tight budget (got the cheap chinese one for £48; will see how long it will last).

Hurry, only 3 left (sold 3 in an hour!)

is it dab? if not its a waste of money when they switch fm off.

Does this have infra-red remote control support for steering wheel controls?
Currently got a Kenwood unit.

I do lots of testing/comparison myself, and read shed loads of reviews as well, when it comes to the sound (headphones, stereo amplifiers, DAC, headphones amps, and car audio as well)
Anyway i didn't tried all the pioneer stuff, but i tried 3 stereos, heard some in other cars - and they s*ck. Same with some old and new stereo amps, and couple new headphones. I believe Pioneer still making superior DJ equipment - or at least they like them.
But the rest, a specially new Pioneers cheap stuff is shait. I know only few TOP END pioneers which are ok, or maybe even good and cost £800+. Pioneer make lost of good stuff, but its hard to find them and they cost lots of £.
Well if your plan listen radio with stock car speakers, well go for it. It wont make a difference at all, it would be even worst (if we talk about sound quality).
If you need only features (mp3, usb, dvd), and sound quality is not for your brains, when buy any stuff, like Sony, Kenwood, Aldi stuff, JVC, Rockwood and other crap.

Out of 298 reviews - 4.5 out of 5. That's good enough for me, as they can't ALL be Pioneer employes with fake accounts!

95% of people probably bought this and it was their first car stereo. And i bet they do listen radio. I am not saying this bad stereo, simply i do not trust pioneer anymore. Btw read worst reviews, usualy thats there truth hiding.

I have a fair amount of experience in car audio, this is a good head unit which is well worth the money - an easy buy if it does what you require. I had the previous model of this years ago in my Silvia. Alpine have fallen behind their previous standards whereas Pioneer units have improved in my opinion.

Ford ka....you will need a double din fitting kit - most likely single din is the norm however it is not a car I am familiar with.

This is a GREAT unit (but I would agree about how bright it is even when dimmed; try the "warm" colour scheme, it's just red and orange). It scrolls the music title being played from bluetooth, pauses when a call comes in, displays caller ID and sound quality for me in a Legacy with front tweeters and MTX door speakers, in combination with a 12" Vibe sub, is IMMENSE and it's a BIG car to fill and the EQ is very effective for fine tuning harsh frequencies out!

Ordered this from Halfords with the fitting and the 10% off. Apparantly my car needs adaptors, fascia kit etc.. which works out to be an extra £70.00 :s anyone else had any issues like this? or Should i just purchase the unit and get it installed elsewhere?

I would, but my car has integrated voice control for the climate control and radio/bluetooth etc - wouldnt want to loose it tbh (even though its a bit gimmicky)

Most vehicle's dont have standard ISO facia holes now a days. I have installed this unit into a CMAX and to get the facia adapters/ loom adapters & Steering Wheel control adapters, it cost me an exta £64 from eBay. Link to the CMAX kit below:

ebay.co.uk/itm…387?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Contact the seller, they'll put a kit together for your car. I am willing to bet the Halfords kit did not include the Steering Wheel Controls interface.

Thank you

And no it didnt include the steering wheel interface!
