Pioneer SPH-DA100 AppRadio £99.99 @ Halfords

Found 12th Jul 2013
Have been eyeing this up to go in my new car, last night it was £199.99 (originally £299.99) Checked stock in my area this morning and to my surprise it showed up in my basket as £99.99, went back onto the listing to check and they have put a 50% sale on all pioneer head units until Monday so the total saving is down as 66%

Just had confirmation from my store that I can collect and that the price is £99.99 (I was expecting the call to say the price was wrong)

Bit of a stonking price for a pioneer double din headunit

According to multiple sources, buy the ARLiberator app to get full use of your android phone with this headunit

Couple of months ago this reached 264 degrees at £249

It's amazing how cheap good head units are now. I imagine that the exponentially shrinking market for them has driven competition though the roof.

It must be, most cars in the last 3 years seem to be fitted as standard with top of the range double din headunits. Quite glad I didn't go ahead and order last night at £199

Hit deal but. Wundt pic the app radio you need a iPhone connected at all times. Plus I don't think it fully works with iPhone 5.

just reserved one, don't even have a double din space for it, but its alot of head unit for the money. we're changing our car shortly so will put double din on the "nice to have" list

Wow, great price, really really tempted!

I'm not sure if it will even play mp3 files from a usb stick. Anyone know?

nice.

Do it... its only on till Monday and I doubt they'll have much stock left at this price (they're now out of stock in 3 of my local stores)

Apparently not, the usb is only for updating the firmware and or connecting a phone, to be honest all my music will be transferred to my phone so im not that bothered with the lack of usb playback

That's such good value, I'm so tempted!

Hot from me!

no doubt its a great price... but the functions are quite limited!!!!

hate the idea of being restricted to my 16gb iPhone! still tempted tho.... lol

Thanks for the info on the non playing of files from USB, I'm out.

"formatted and designed specifically for safer in-vehicle operation" so that's why it gives access to 'photos' and 'more' - things required for safe operation when driving, eh?

I'm not sure how much of this is operable by the steering wheel controls (if you've got compatible ones) - It's been proven that physical buttons are needed to ensure minimal distraction - after you've fitted this close your eyes and switch to music and play a track and compare that to a fixed layout of buttons and switches.

If you have one of the touchscreen GPS's you'll understand just how much attention they take to operate (which is why they all say don't operate whilst driving in the instruction manual, ironically) and if you don't have steering controls, or they only operate the basics like volume then this IMO could be a nuisance at best, dangerous at worst.

Hot from me. Would look a little out of place in my little 306 though.

Looks pretty good, heat for price.
However...

No USB Port?
No Memory Card Slot?
No CD Drive?
No MP3?

what does this actually play?

expired

reserved one..but showing 199.99...finished already?

Shows 199

Managed to reserve one at £99. think they will honour it?

how are you managing to get it for 99?

It's back up to £199 now, but if you look in the 'Products in this offer' section, it's still showing as 99.99.

If you people who have reserved them want proof that it was showing at 99.99, then quickly take a screenprint maybe?

On the results page it shows £99 (search for AppRadio then filter by ICE), when you add to basket it shows £199. I guess if you print out the page they should honour it if you R&C?

I've been tempted by one of these for a while, especially this version which has improvements over their Mk1 and supports Android. There's an app in the market which mirrors your Android screen onto this which makes it like a huge tablet in your car.

Iphone or radio really, the CD changer port is used by the idock so thats out of the pic too and null front loading options. for sound heads, the rca's on offer are a little limited too, plus no AV/aux in

Mate actually bought one and returned prev as the app list has few limitations too & tom tom was one that wasn't compatible - few other nav ones are mind, but was enough not to want it

Still...prob enough for most and sound quality will be good

Seems to have gone back up unfortunately, shows on the product screen as £99.99 but in the basket at £199.99, hope a few of you got the ones you reserved, mine will be picked up in about 30 mins so I'll let you know how I got on

GRRRRR was just about to order, went up to 199

just phoned up to have a moan, even though it still shows up at 99.99 when searching for it, they wont honer it. Not happy

For 199 it is a crap radio tbh, better go for the one for 129 double din..

if its on promotion at 50% off then shouldnt the price be £150 as it used to be £299.99...

to those who have purchased this, does the Torque app work on it?

It was already reduced by £100 to £199.99 and obviously when they put the 50% discount it took it to £99.99 (saving 66%)

And yes the Torque app works with it as long as you use ARLiberator (there are a couple of youtube videos with people using the torque app on this)

thanks for that. would be cool having the torque app displaying all the info on the screen!

Just had a phone call from the parents (I'm in work) to say that all collected fine and paid £99.99

for android users, you have to buy a CH-AH200 cable kit, approx £75! so that you can connect your phone...or can you use a USB to Mini USB Cable?

Don't think I want the one I have reserved. It's reserved in Huddersfield. The reviews on amazon are terrible.

Guy H- if you don't want it, I'd be happy to take it off ya hands- pay for postage and a bit extra for your troubles!!

Just been to may local halfords with a printout of the price and they won't honer it :-(
