Surround sound speaker packages simply don't get any better value than the Pioneer S-SL100 5.0!

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH SOUND

This Pioneer speaker pack gets you started on the great voyage of surround sound. Simply add a subwoofer and AV receiver, plug in your TV and Blu-ray player and home entertainment will be far more, well, entertaining! The five dedicated speakers act as front, centre and rears with the benefit of the same sonic characteristics right the way around. This means that as special effects whiz around the room they don't change their sonic tone. So a thunderous V8 car, for example, still sounds that way as it 'crosses' the room and screeches off behind you.

EASY TO ACCOMMODATE

The Pioneer S-SL100 speakers are relatively compact, making them easy to accommodate around your room. They also feature keyhole mounts on the rear, allowing them to be wall mountable if you prefer. Non-slip pads are also provided for shelf placement. Magnetic shielding makes them safe to place next to an older CRT TV or magnetically stored data of any kind. Finally, basic cable is even provided, meaning that you're ready to go, straight out of the box.

Big brand and big sound for such a small price - the Pioneer S-SL100 speaker package makes the perfect entry into surround sound.

SSL100... bet these have Heartbleed (_;)

You need amplifier and sub woofer to work with this. Any cheap ones online?

If only onkyo was this cheap

For a novice (me) how hard would this be to setup?

I'm worried about wiring is that particularly expensive? I would need to run this under my carpets which could be a pain. Is there a wireless solution?

Lol I'd have thought you'd been all for this brand as opposed an 'unknown' onkyo :P

Wow, those speakers have just appeared on eBay twice the Richer Sounds price!
Which one of you is prodigy_traders?

To be honest for £30 you can't really go wrong. Certainly nothing else out there at this price which would compete with it. As a 'beginner' to home AV it would be a great start - not a huge investment but likely a decent improvement on the speakers offered on your TV.

But I do see what you mean.

NOTE - YOU WILL NEED AN APPROPRIATE AV RECEIVER TO RUN THESE THROUGH FOR FULL SURROUND AND IDEALLY A SUB AS WELL.

Speaker wire is as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be.

looks like you could connect the subwoofer, but you would still need an amplifier. I'd avoid this tbh

Setup is easy, but as mentioned you do need an AV amp & Sub (optional but recommended)

as for wiring, I have used QED micro cable in the past, its fairly inexpensive and good quality.

One of the reviews on the RS website states that sufficient wiring for a 14'x14' room was provided with the speakers.

It does have a built in amp though.

(Don't think it has the connections for these speakers anyway.)

And no speaker output

Thanks Boz, ordered the set.

Going to see if I can get the sub that scarfy posted too. Cheers guys.

These would be an ideal replacement for someone who has an all-in-one system where some of the speakers are broken, though you'd still need a sub.

Was looking for a cheap set of speakers today Thanks!

check your AV receiver, make sure you have passive output,. otherwise you'd need to buy an active sub.

ordered thanks

Cheers, will do. I've got a Marantz 4002 amp, so I'm hoping it can power it, I'll check when I get home.

to clarify, the AV receiver that scarfy posted has a passive output? I know little about this kind of stuff!

I have some really small Yamaha which physically are about half the size of these. They're pretty loud but on occasion I've wanted a bit more oooomph. My Yamaha ones are 80w and 6ohms and these are 100w and 8ohms. Do you think I would notice much difference with these?

Wouldnt a 5.1 sony e2100 blu ray home cinema system be better at £156 from bargaincrazy? If you dont have a av receiver that could cost £100 aleast? Plus these sets of speakers+ a sub.

AV Receiver + speakers and sub will cost you almost the same and you are far better off with them and have much more connections then with a blu ray with speakers.

Stand mountable?

I'm looking to get surround sound in the living room (6m x 4m) and this looks a good price for speakers but i have no idea about what sub to buy same with av and on a budget. Could i get a basic, decent set up for about £150?

Like with anything, your budget dictates the quality you will get.

With a receiver is only as good as the speakers. Equally, the speakers are only as good as the receiver.

For £150? You could get these speakers and get this receiver - richersounds.com/pro…blk

This does not include a subwoofer or all the cables you will need though.

Stretch £50 more and you can get a subwoofer thrown in with this package - richersounds.com/pro…072

Yeah having looked at these speakers, I would say richersounds.com/pro…072 is a better deal, unless you just need to replace speakers

I'd say go for q acoustics 1010i or 2000 speaker package. They'll definitely fill your room.could look for ex display, gumtree or ebay
