I called and they said they can order them in to your local store and all you pay is the £4.99, If you want it delivered to your house it is an extra £7.

With the Pioneer S-SLW500 you get a passive subwoofer, from a top brand for less than the price of a night at the cinema for two!

BOOST YOUR BASS

Using a dedicated 16cm cone and a bass reflex cabinet, the Pioneer S-SLW500 is the best value way of boosting your bass. Ideal for use with speaker packages, such as Pioneer's own S-SL100 5.0 pack, this passive subwoofer also works well with a wide variety of other speakers. With the potential for bass to drop right down to 35Hz (dependant upon your amplifier) this Pioneer sub adds real wallop to both music and movie soundtracks.

EASY TO POSITION

With its specially designed, low profile cabinet, the S-SLW500 has been designed to fit where other subs won't go. Mount it on a rack, alongside a system or under furniture; this Pioneer sub will slide in with ease. Should you prefer, it can also be used vertically. Supplied non-slip pads help quell any vibrations and 3m of basic speaker cable is provided to get you going straight from the box.

Ideal as your first subwoofer or as a replacement for an existing passive system sub, the Pioneer S-SLW500 is a sub-sonic bargain!

BTW this is a PASSIVE SUB

Remember this is passive and will not work with all AV receivers.

In case you forget, this is a passive and not all receivers will make it work

Can someone please confirm if this is 100w RMS?

16cm (6.3") cone. Not very bass. Cheap though!

I remember someone telling me this is a passive sub , so might not work with all receivers

but have you also got long term memory?

Cold because it's not passive.

If they have a crossover just buy two and connect them to the second set of speaker terminals on your amp - if you have them.

is this suitable for a receiver that uses an active sub?

Same. I think I paid £9.99 for it. Still unopened in its box at the back of the garage somewhere.

I've read the whole thread but I can't figure out if it's passive or not?

But it is passive?!

Oh dear god

Personally I didn't know what passive meant in this context. But all it means is that this speaker needs to be connected to the speaker output of an amplifier, not the line output.

I was going to comment on this, but just .. couldn't .... be ..........

Will hold out for a passive aggressive model.

I thought about posting this earlier when I spotted it, but thought it had already been done to death on previous deals when it was a tenner and nobody wanted it other than as a reasonably built MDF cabinet.

Surprised no geniuses have not added legs, a LCD, a Raspberry PI and turned one into a coffee table mame cabinet yet.

Would I be right in thinking that this will definitely work with all amplifiers?

It means it needs to be powered by your amp...something a lot of modern receivers do not do.

Is this passive?
