Might be worth gambling and holding off to see if it drops even lower, camelcamel shows it's dropped cheaper and cheaper every day this week.

Because this is a stereo receiver. The one you linked to is a multichannel AV receiver.

That's true. They're usually limited to just AAC or even SBC
I would try to use DLNA as much as possible instead of Bluetooth.

This is designed to give the best stereo experience. AV receivers are a does it all kind of thing.
I'm kinda of thinking of future proofing where I put my money, need to replace my 32 year old Sony Amp with something that has loads more connectivity.

Then by all means go for it. But if you plan on having stereo only, consider something like this.
