This is pretty cheap very tempted as want to replace my old Sherwood AMP

Quality receiver. Won't pass audio through HDMI though but for the price of a couple of optical cables you get a Pioneer quality

No, it only supports the following formats :

Surround Sound Formats
Dolby Digital (+)Yes
Dolby Pro Logic II (+)Yes
DTS (+)Yes
DTS 96/24 (+)Yes
Surround Modes (+)8 + 1 (Action, Drama, Entertainment Show, Advanced Game, Sports, Classical, Rock/Pop, Unplugged + Extended Stereo)

No Dolby True HD or DTS Master, it does have a multichannel analogue input though, so would support lossless audio if you bought a Blu Ray player that has multichannel outputs.

I bought this the last time it was on offer , it is a fantastic amp .
It is correct , it's only the picture through the hdmi . As stated above you need to use optical cables as well (there are two optical and hdmi inputs on this ). I don't see that as an issue unless you really want to spend a lot more for the 'luxury' of audio down the hdmi lead . Who see's the leads behind the telly ? I only use it with a two speaker set up for music dvd/blu ray as i'm not interested in surround however it has about a million settings for the surround so you can tinker away for hours , keep the manual handy to remind you the settings though . I tried the radio when i got it , that is pretty good also. Ideal way to get sound out of a PS3 .

I've got mine set up with these bestbuy.co.uk/pro…spx and its great. Got them both in the Christmas sale.

There is nothing "luxury" about having a receiver that natively supports Dolby True HD or DTS Master Audio, at least, however, for those that buy a receiver for its home cinema capabilites Pioneer have had some forethought to include a multichannel input. With that the number of Blu Ray Players that have multichannel outputs are few and far between and generally more expensive.
