Has anyone got this? Can you please comment on the ease of use, quality etc? I wanted something with a plethora of HDMI ports

Not my field at all so I am no way an expert in these things - but I went for the Denon AVR-X2000 on sale at £249.99 (available at a few places) Have been totally blown away by how easy it was to set up and the range of features. Obviously the Denon is more money which is an issue, but worth considering.

Is this better than a Yamaha RX-V375?

Gets good reviews. Supports 3D and 4K pass through as well.

GO AND LISTEN TO THEM BOTH IN STORE.

Richer will set it all up, call 1st. Bring your own music. Most stores have listening rooms.

updated. thanks!

The only potential downside I can see is no speaker A/B option, so you can't connect normal speakers just for listening to music.

Woah! I would also like to know which one is better out of the two.

I'm sure you could call for a demo but people here seem to be quite knowledgeable with this sort of stuff!

When you say normal speakers, wouldn't this be connected to speakers and then you have the option to use airplay / usb port to play music?

Sorry. Was a bit of a rage reading comment after comment on which is 'better' if you care about how an amp sounds, go and test them with your own ears. An internet forum is the last place to ask. Don't listen to the sales man either.

The point of forking out for an AV system is because you love films/music. And ONLY YOU can decide which suits your ears better, I hate a few very high end amps because of the way they sound. I replaced an old Yamaha for a very very highly rated and expensive Marrantz amp, and I HATE they way it sounds. I've hated it for 2 years and I'm listening for a new amp now.

No problem, I was just curious to know for the money which system offers more as the Pioneer has features such as network capability. As someone that isn't too clued up with all the technical specification when it comes to receivers I was hoping someone could say which is better in that sense.

The pioneer will probably be better for toys, yamahas are usually ugly lacking features but sound amazing for the price.

If your hooking it up to small satellite speakers just get the pioneer as you won't hear how good a Yamaha can sound with crap speakers. Waldolf was referring to bookshelf/floor standing speakers, some amps allow you to switch from 'a' set of speakers (maybe the floorstanders) to 'b' set of speakers (surround sound system).

The pioneer will prob be more fun to stream to etc. But it isn't a serious piece of kit, more of a toy.

Harmon Karden, Yamaha and Onkyo make some great sounding amps, you will find onkyo comes packed with features too. Sony, pioneer, denon make some very bad sounding amps. BUT some people prefer the way they sound.

If you have dedicated surround speakers, then these may not be the best for listening to music, so the A/B speaker option is useful to direct the output to a couple of standard hifi speakers

Helpful, thanks.

I have dedicated speakers, obviously the sound is important but I like the idea of airplay / network streaming which would connect to my NAS (makes me sway towards the Pioneer). On the other hand as the Yamaha quality is probably superior but sacrifices the gadgets... Would be helpful to hear from someone that has one of these otherwise i'll go down the richer sounds demo route!

Sorry yamaha 675

Unless you are a hifi buff, and you will know if you are, then just go for the features you want. There are so many variables when considering sound output, then it's not worth dwelling on it. All well known brands at similar price points will be fine for most people.

No matter amp you get always get a demo with suitably matched speakers.

I had to replace my onkyo 605 as i needed an amp with more hdmis etc and as onkyo are rubbish now as id tested one i wad disappointed.

I looked at other makes and went for the yamaha 605. Pioneer no good as its too top heavy for my kef 3005 speakers. Sony was poor.

Went for the Tannoy TFX package, i'm definately not a buff with this, just wanted a reasonably priced package for SKY, PS and with the additional capabilities such as network streaming / airplay... I guess I should go for the Pioneer then.

Buy any amp, just get the features you want.

If you want to spend some £ in the future invest in some bookshelf or floorstanders.

You may find it hard to match an amp to those tannoy speakers.

I bought the yamaha 675 2 days ago. Mega bargain 369. Sound quality is excellent and warm.

The pioneers are quite harsh unless you get their amps over 1000 like the 57 thats on offer.

The amp you get depends on the speakers you have.

Anyone recommend a good speaker set up to go with this?

Cheers

With all the features on this one, Spotify, airplay too it seemed a good buy so I just ordered one.

Will take a little time to arrive & I'm no audio expert but I'll report on what I think of it when I get a chance to have a play...

It's great, miles better than an old Sony receiver it replaced. Mine was delivered new years eve, I ordered it Saturday. Did a firmware update but don't have spotify premium so can't test that. It plays mp3s and flacs from my NAS. I'm not an audio expert but it sounds good to me, I've got my xboxes, blu ray and freesat box plugged in. For £159 delivered it's brill.

I don't understand why Pioneer amps are gettting soo much stick against other brands.

I've had two Pioneer amps (422 & 923) and personally thought both were excellent on my Q Acoustics 5.0 with KEF Kube 2.

Surely the toys such as Airplay are a good thing? Why wouldn't you want a receiver (the hub of a HT setup) to be compatible with as many devices as possible?

See if you don't want to listen through the speakers and only the tv can you just switch the av off and it will still play throughout the tv

Ordered. Anybody have an opinion of theirs just yet?

this is hot from me , was debating as to go for the 923 modle, but I cant seem to find out if you can use the app as search engine to pick tracks from my networked pc, any you guys have any info on this , I want to use it like a napster ap, but from my own tagged database

Did anyone buy this?

Hi, has the price changed now? It seems to be £199. I think this meets my needs...

Yeah I messaged them and they said it is now £199 I ended up buying this

hotukdeals.com/dea…891

Glad I got this while it was going cheap. Took a while to link up TV / sky / Apple TV / switch / PS3 but well worth the hassle. I'm well satisfied & I'm not using it to half its capabilities yet. Wish I hadn't ripped out my surround sound speakers when I mounted the TV on the wall some time ago but still sounds excellent through my hifi setup.

All works very well & AirPlay is a nice bonus for my Apple gear. Internet radio is good too. Still reading the manual for tips (it's a long read).

Thinking about s new surround sound set up & I've been told it can all be run via a Logitech harmony remote to make it easier for the Missus to play with it.

Chuffed so far but if anyone has any suggestions how to make best use of this item please let me know...
