Been looking at this myself, very tempting

I have the older VSX-920 model, and it is brilliant. This is an excellent deal for a super piece of kit, which is available at Amazon for the same price currently.

hi i've a sony 7.1 amplifier which is a best buy from 2011. (in the 0-£300 range).

this amplifier is within the 500£ range at what hifi.. do these brand of ranges just mean extra features or superior sound?

thanks if you know!

It's very difficult to provide an objective answer, I'm afraid. There's no doubting the extra functions which come with the VSX-924, even compared with my 920. I'm very pleased with the sound I get from my 920, even at high volume levels, but it's often a personal choice with these things. It also depends on what speakers you're using. I have hi-fi speakers for both my front and rears, which enable the Pioneer to shine. If you are using home cinema speakers, I guess the benefits will be harder to determine. Perhaps your local Richer Sounds could demo the receiver for you.

Sorry I cannot give a more definitive answer.
