Pixel 2 £474 / Pixel 2 XL £644 @ CPW (+ Possible £50 cashback)

The Pixel 2 / XL are currently on offer at Carphone Warehouse but can be found even cheaper if bought with a 1 month O2 contract, bringing them down to £474 and £644.

All phones from CPW are unlocked so you can use your existing sim or another of your choosing, just remember to cancel the O2 contract as soon as possible to avoid paying any more.

TopCashBack are also offering £50 for new contracts, which could potentially bring it down even more to £424 / £594!

Great price... In my opinion the best phone on sale. I've had mine since the end of November. It's brillaint
I talked to CPW about the P10 Lite on a 1 month contract saying I'd like to buy the phone, pay the contract term in 1 go. Not possible as the contract is with O2 and you have to go through a credit check and pay by Direct Debit. Way too many hoops for my liking just to save a few quid.
I bought the Pixel 2 XL on Thursday - thanks to the poster for reminding me to cancel the O2 contract!

I actually had a bit of win - my old Nexus 6p was in for its second bootloop repair. They rang to say Huawei didn't have the parts to repair it and would I like a Samsung S6? Nope. After much toing and froing they offered some store credit. I expected about £100, but they actually gave me the full price I paid for it nearly 2 years ago, £439!

So the 2 XL only cost me £190. If you have a 6p get it in for repair, it was a proper Brucie bonus.

Speed on 4g network on O2 in London is about 2.5mb now. It's slower than their 3g. No idea about other locations.

So if you want to lock yourself to an O2 speed on a phone of this quality go right ahead. Good luck

As OP states... phones are unlocked.. so you can use another network if you want. Either way, still cheaper than other websites for sim-free.

That's just standard process with mobile contracts though isn't it? A credit check and payments via direct debit? What's the reason for wanting to avoid it?

Surely it's just a case of putting in your details, cancelling the contract when the phone arrives and having enough money in your bank to cover the first and only direct debit payment? Felt like very little work to me to save £35 and potentially another £50 in cashback, but I understand where you're coming from.

Its just a pity you can't pay off the contract there and then in order to save the credit check and direct debit. If the contract was this CPW and not O2, then maybe you could.
We did just this on the weekend!
In my humble opinion, every phone these days are pretty good in the first few months. After 1.5 years, it goes steep downhill. Have galaxy s6 edge plus and it's two years old and working like a late 90's computer. What's the point in having smart phones and need to switch off smart features so that battery can last at least for 12 hours.

On this deal, I would buy out the phone and take sim-only.

These seem to be the speeds most places unfortunately.
Tempted but not going to carphonewarehouse again. My nexus 5X is having bootloop issue(common problem with the mobo) but i took it in for a repair, but their crappy repair team say its "moisture damaged " and wont do anything. So good luck getting your warranty from them, as those moisture paper is very sensitive and will trigger in majority of phone after a year or so general use, even if they never touched water like my phone
The credit check is almost non-existent. Since it's only for a SIM, the handset doesn't factor in as you are buying it outright. Admittedly a bit of a pain, but a small pain relatively.

Luckily both Pixels are waterproof (to a degree) so shouldn't have that problem hopefully. Have you had it in the bathroom whilst taking a shower at all? I've damaged mine before from the steam getting inside and wrecking speakers/microphones.

Isn't the warranty with Google as the manufacturer, rather than CPW? Maybe you could try getting it repaired by them instead?

If not there's lots of solutions online that may help, such as this one. Also have you tried doing a hard reset/restore?
3% cashback on AMEX cards too
Smoking offer, amazing phone.

Yeah, i am sure steam is what triggered the moisture strip, but the reboot issue is a mobo fault not cause by moisture damage and reported online frequently. but carphonewarehouse use that excuse to blame every problems. Let just hope Pixel and other water resistant phone wont trigger the strip with steam or moisture in air.

usually the retailer is responsible for warranty. and they will then contact the manufacture. but the letter say team knowhow, so they just used their in house repair team i guess.
Much better price for the Pixel 2XL. Makes it look like a bargain compared to the Note 8, and getting close to the Oneplus 5T/S8. Still not a fan of the Pixel 2 though, even at that price.
I took out the pixel 2 XL with EE total cost for 2 years £396 17.99 per month, my account is in credit by £396 I will just leave it in there for 2 yes until I come outta contract and it's paid off. I use my BT sim only in it with 25gb

£17.99 x 24 = £431.76?
Absolutely never doing this 1 month rolling contract thing again like I did with the p10 lite recently. Took numerous calls to get it cancelled and a visit to local O2 shop in town, I'm still not convinced it's cancelled after my second attempt at canceling I cancelled my Direct debit and low and behold I had a late payment email sent to me and its heavily affected my credit score. An absolute catastrophe!

I got the phone and rang O2 and asked them to give my notification of cancelling after the 1st month, payment goes out fine ( I get my cashback) the following month an email saying your bill is available to view charging me again. I ring again, cancel again and they credit the account with £15 I ask proof such as email or letter confirming cancellation and they said all they can do is send me a text... The text came and it's wording and grammar didn't fill me with confidence. By this time I've thrown the SIM away, it never left it's packet. I cancel direct debit as advised, following month, your bill is overdue a £4.50 charge will be added if not paid within 4 days I ring again, because I didn't have phone number or sim number I couldn't pass security and was told they couldn't do anything . Absolute farse, live and learn an all that.

I can assure you this phone should still be speedy.

Samsung has another ui on top of it which slows down the device. This is pure android with no extra ui on top of it.

Another thing I've noticed is that if your phone is almost out of internal memory then it becomes slow.

I moved away from Samsung and now use a Oneplus 5. The difference in speed is very noticeable and I can be sure it would still be fast after 2 years
Thanks for the mention @wardi69

I went through all that trouble twice and both times my orders got cancelled and when I called them the lady was clueless and tried to sell me 24 month contract. I have had mobile contracts for years number of times from CPW and for some reason i failed the checks...I have pretty good credit rating so I have no idea what CPW are playing at. what a pathetic service from CPW.

O2 or giffgaff ?
Looks like a really good deal if you can get the cashback. I keep getting more and more tempted by the Pixel 2, then I remember that I'll have to buy some new headphones on top. Hopefully it'll drop more when the S9 is released.
I went from Galaxy S6 which I hated owning for 2 years. It was always dog slow and had battery issues. I then bought a Sony XZ and it was a lot faster, thought it might be the perfect phone until I updated to Oreo then it was a disaster because Sony didn't include blue light/night light feature and no 3rd party blue light filter works properly on Oreo because it can't draw over the system UI. So I sacked that off and bought a Pixel 2, this is the first phone I've ever bought where it just works, and works lightning fast, all the rest I've ever owned were plagued by Android lag and other issues, even my Nexus 4 from years ago. So if you're in any doubt that this is a good phone then don't be.

The worst things I can say about this phone is the small screen (non XL version) and the massive bezels. I chose the smaller model because it uses a Samsung AMOLED panel, as the larger XL version uses a flawed LG OLED panel.

the only way for moisture paper to trigger is...... to come into contact with moisture, ps CPW do not control your warranty, they send the phone to the manufacturer. SO maybe get the facts before making such statements.

you know the credit checks are nothing to do with them, there are checks behind the scenes that happen that could potentially lead to a decline. they would be using someone like Equifax to check everything. Not something directly to do with CPW.

I've only had mine for a few days so still getting used to it but so far, wow, it really is amazing. It's been a long time since I felt this impressed by a new android phone (probably not since my LG G2). And the camera is just sensational.

One thing I did to get some extra screen real estate is buy the app 'Granular immersive mode'. Highly recommended and doesn't require root (just some simple adb command to be passed to the phone)

also CPW hire bunch if imbeciles
seems like great price but i really hate their instore purchase policy, can't return item only exchange.
can anyone confirm having this issue (screen must be rotated to the right)
also unable to tap icons in that row (waze, photos maps)
