Pixel2 has no problems. This is utter nonsense. The Garbage in the tech gutter press (eg, The Register) is related to the Google Pixel2 XL (a totally different phone, made by a different manufacturer), and even then, 99% of the issues are just the usual internet nonsense you get about any competing flagship in the run up to any Apple launch.

If you must use Android, it's a no brainer to get Pixel phones otherwise you are stuck without any swift software updates from other manufacturers like Samsung or HTC

Will Google store match this price?
And will this come with the Google home mini
Edited by: "andersonchenghy" 18th Nov

I'm really torn, the Xperia XZ1 Compact has the same chipset and 4GB of memory, 32GB internal storage and SD card. It's £399 (No AMOLED), but also comes with Oreo out the box, so it's a Treble certified device...

I am really torn, I see the Pros and Cons of the pixel 2 over the XZ1 as this

Pro: Better camera in the Pixel 2 (the Sony is still very good)
Pro: The custom silicon for image processing and portraits in the Pixel2
Pro: Google, so it's guaranteed monthly updates and supported for decent amount of time
Pro: Double the internal storage in the Pixel2
Pro: AMOLED screen and always on display
Pro: Full res Google Drive storage for free
Pro: Stock Android, no duplicate apps or Facebook that I don't want.

Con: Pixel2 is £180 more (that's the only con that matters, but I have listed 2 more that others might care about)
Con: No SD card (SD card storage speeds suck, so this is a mini-con)
Con: No headphone socket (I personally don't care, stopped using wires year ago and a USB-C dongle is cheap enough)

The screen on XL is pretty crap, saw it in person the other day on display at EE , really blue and pixelated

Maybe worth holding on a few days for the OnePlus 5T?

Still showing as £629...or am I missing something?

Make sure you click through to the basket.

It's the Pixel 2 XL that's apparently had lots of problems according to online tech sites (apparently iPhone X too). However imo this is an ugly phone, 2017 is the year of bezelless. Razer phone doesn't look too bad since it's bezels have a decent looking grill design.

This is the Pixel2 we are discussing here, a totally different product. Both the Pixel2 XL and the iPhoneX have some display weirdness when looked at via wide angles, but this is down to how the displays are manufactured by Samsung. Everything else is basically Internet myth and shouldn't sway your opinion, the colour hue you mention is something that always crops up from Samsung and iPhone owners used the overly artificial overly saturated display settings those phone use by default. Most other phones opt for colour accuracy over "hipster modes".

I want a bezel, as I have not yet mastered the art of holding my phone by levitation.

Bezel-less designs look great, but when you actually come to USE them, you will very soon regret putting form over function.

OK, I have decided. I'm going for the Pixel2. Both great phones for sure, but I would rather have temporary buyers remorse for spending £180 on something that was only marginally better, than being stuck with the cheaper phone wishing I had spent £180 on the better phone.

You guys are insane to support google's RipOff Project (Pixel) at that price. HTC U Ultra is £300 but no one bats an eye.

As opposed to? Nothing else even comes close, android offers a secure universal platform,

Anyone know if this comes with the Google Home Mini?

I have had the S8 Plus from launch (8 months roughly) and that has a curved screen on the sides and minimal bezels top and bottom. I've used it as perfectly as I did my previous phone (Galaxy Note 4). So the myth of small bezels (meaning you can't hold your phone normally) I haven't found to be true from my experience.

Sorry, but I have to strongly disagree. Having had Samsung phones and several HTC variants with my previous being the M8 I decided to try Sony on my recent upgrade with the Xperia XZ.

For a so called 2016/17 flagship, this phone compared to my 3 year old M8 is laggy, extremely poor headphone and speaker audio quality and with a very average camera. The fingerprint sensor on the side is however excellent, fast and in the perfect place for one handed use. I've never felt the need to upgrade mid contract with a phone but I'm just so disappointed with the XZ that I am looking to sell and get something else in a week or two.

Pleased so far, got another £50 knocked off, as I know my consumer rights with regards to out of date store promotional cards.. :-)

It feels really slick and super quick, display is lush, camera quality best on the market bar none, its also significantly better than anything apple has to offer and a fraction of the price.

Time to start sticking my £20 a month in my phone upgrade cookie jar again, it's now empty... This will be good for a couple of years at least.
Edited by: "mgillespie" 18th Nov

Worth mentioning, whilst there is £10 cashback from both quidco and topcashback, don't expect to be able to click and collect same day, the phones don't come from local store stock, but are posted, so the £10 cashback comes with a time penalty :-(

This thread is about the pixel2. Its a different phone made by a totally different company. You have failed to comprehend this clearly.

The pixel2 XL has the exact same display distortion effect that the iPhone X has. The only difference is apple are keen to tell you it's a feature.

support.apple.com/en-…191

"If you look at an OLED display off-angle, you might notice slight shifts in color and hue. This is a characteristic of OLED and is normal behavior. With extended long-term use, OLED displays can also show slight visual changes. This is also expected behavior and can include “image persistence” or “burn-in,” where the display shows a faint remnant of an image even after a new image appears on the screen. This can occur in more extreme cases such as when the same high contrast image is continuously displayed for prolonged periods of time"

Sound familiar????

And the store I went to had a pixel 2 and a 2xl running that you could tinker with, the display on both looked great.

I think you need to stop believing paid for reviews and blogs, as clearly you have trouble separating spin, paid for reviews, viral gurellia marketing and clickbait (which is essentially 99% of the internet) from the 1% that is actually news.

So did you buy a Pixel 2 or not? And where from, And if so how precisely how did you get a Fifty pound discount.
I think I'm the third person to ask this, and I've asked it twice so four in total.
Thanks in advance.
Ps
Don't bother replying if you're a wind up merchant, as quite frankly I'm starting to wonder.
