Really want this phone but at £699 still feel it's too much. Needs another 100 off

Phone is cr*p

What a well thought out reasoned arguement....
No headphone jack after making fun of Apple. Shame Google, shame!

Cheaper from carphone Warehouse with £10 cashback.

Also had no issues returning mine today.

While it's a fast phone with an excellent camera the overall experience was no better than my iPhone 7 plus but it does have a major negative with its blue shift display which was very noticeable. Looks like I'm waiting for next year's phones.
Its stupid. These phones would fly off the shelves if they had realistic pricing. It costs like £120-150 to make. Why sell so high.... when they get such meh reviews.

Not just paying for hardware.
I bought ti few days ago for £749. Does anyone know if they will offer a £50 credit to those who just bought it few days ago?
Where can we ask them?

When I spoke to them on the phone they said they'll price match if you bought it recently. Call them up!

Cheaper in Currys if you can get discounted vouchers - see my earlier comment on another thread.
Bit annoyed. I had ordered this last week direct from Google for £749. Asked them if they could price match carphone warehouse deal of £699 a few days later and they refused. Now they have dropped the price themselves to £699. Hope they will give me a refund me the difference
The reviews complain about the screen being dull, having a blueish tint and having poor viewing angles. They say that the smaller version has the much better screen and Google appears to have scimped on the screen in this larger version.
This may be the standard price for a top end phone but I just want a replacement for a Nexus 5 that cost a lot less and has wireless charging but suffers useless battery life now.

In the same boat, getting a bit sluggish at times too. Think we were spoilt with the Nexus 5! Chinese phones with a useable warranty would be good.
still £160 more than a galaxy s8 which is a superior device in every way apart from software.

They have released an update that corrects the blueish screen making it a bit less annoying and colors more vibrant

No one knows exactly how much they cost to make, and often the most expensive aspect of a phone is not the manufacture but the development, marketing and all other associated costs involved in making and maintaining a device - and that's not including typical profit margins and taxes.

It probably costs McDonald's 20p to make a Big Mac too.

Software being one of the most important things on a phone.

I have a Note 8 here which I'll happily swap for a 128GB Pixel XL in similarly immaculate condition if anyone wants to get rid of their rubbish, inferior Pixel....

I have just swapped my note 8 for this pixel 2 xl and have absolutely no regrets. Screen is great, much lighter and easier to handle, fast and silky smooth os with absolutely no lag, fast updates to rectify issues and excellent battery life... especially compared to my note 8 which I'd struggle to get a full day of moderate use whereas pixel has been having at least 30% left at the end of the day with heavier use.
The note 8 is a great phone but I find this much better in day to day use and manageability. It really is a great phone.

The blueish tint cannot be fixed by software as it's part of the screen technology, however there is now a third colour setting to make the colours garish and over saturated (just like most other phones) though.
I don't get the complaints about the blue tint to the screen as it's only noticeable when viewed off axis, 99.9% of the time you will look at the screen straight on so you won't notice it. Haven't looked at one myself but from looking at reviews on YouTube that's what they say

Nope, another £199 to go. And £500 is still expensive for a phone that fails to supply simple things like a headphone jack.

Yes your right. Google really let the side down this time (apart from the camera on this thing and the stereo speakers)

God that's boring...you get an adaptor in the box to use your headphones, of course its not perfect but hey why do you want cables anyway just get yourself some decent BT cans

There you go
If it was this price for the 128GB model (as it always should have been) then they would have to do all "price-reduction" because they're not selling so well.

I ended up getting the Pixel 2 after having to return my pre-order XL due to the blue-tint issue being so strong.

The deal with none removable batteries means the headphones are another consumable.

What kind of vouchers? Do you know any working one?

It's vouchers from the corporate discount scheme that some companies do. My company don't do it so I got them from a friend. I got 8% discount so only had to pay £644 for a £700 voucher.
