Save £400 on the pixel 3 and pixel 3 XL, great deal.

Steps:

Take out a new O2 refresh deal - I advise paying device plan upfront.
Wait for phone to arrive.
Cancel airtime portion of the plan.

Quidco may be available too.

See O2 refresh info here:

O2 Refresh explained O2 Refresh lets you change phones whenever you want. It works by splitting your bill into two parts: a Phone Plan and an Airtime Plan.

  • The Phone Plan is the cost of the phone
  • The Airtime Plan covers all your calls, texts and data
If you want to upgrade your phone, just pay off your Device Plan and you're free to upgrade while continuing to use your Airtime Plan.

Plus, if you decide to keep your phone once you’ve paid it off, we'll only charge you for your Airtime Plan – so your monthly bill will go down.

Can I just say thank you so much for posting this . I lost my hubby 2 yrs ago and it's been a living hell since. I've three kids and I have had to give up a senior nurse career to bring them up. I've lost all my confidence and I an not tech savvy. But today on my birthday I walked into the O2 shop and said I want to pay in full for the handset and cancel the contract. They were lovely I got the pixel 3xl for 444 and I'm chuffed as buttons. I got charged to a cheap as hell data sim deal . I've to wait until Monday to cancel this but they will do it for me. I've had all the pixels 1,2 and now three. But I've never had the XL and at 45 today I'm glad I did as my eyesight is fuxxxxd x so thanks you have cheered me up no end x

Last time this was on, a lot of people were able to get a further £50-75 discount from O2 live chat agents.

Also; o2 make it very difficult to cancel this plan immediately, so be prepared to pay the first months line rental.

Yeah getting £75 discount was next to nothing last time

Would you mind telling me how to get the extra discount please?

Live chat, I literally just asked for a discount

If they give you less than £50 then ask if they can do anything better.

Thanks
I took the iPhone XR Refresh back in Feb-Mar.
If you do manage an additional discount like me they’ll generally give a separate link so chances of Quidco/TCB tracking are next to nil.
About the Refresh, it was a pain to get them to honour their T&C’s but eventually managed it just in time. Then started the struggle to correct the bill which ran another 2 months & finally had everything settled on 1-May.
Long story short - unless you see exceptional value, it may not be worth the time spent & hassle. My 2 cents...
Phones just like ATX cases (I'm looking at you Fractal Design R6) are becoming FAR TOO EXpensive. I would plump for a Redmi 6, perhaps 7, a Moto G or a Huwai. I am not into Apple since there is no headphone jack (despite famed analogue Volume Control of the device output in DC) for the reason I haven't tried them and Android apps and phones are much better value. Sony L1 deal recently was good. I do seem to have a lot of 4G data cheaply so Tidal can be fun, though I run through my speaker(s) wired when I am not loosing my items.
I’m tempted by this deal being back. I went for it last time and loved the Pixel. However I had a faulty handset with screen flicker. When I researched this, it’s not an uncommon fault. Plenty of people reporting it and most likely a software glitch that Google still haven’t resolved. It pit me off a bit to be honest so it went back to O2 who refunded.

Currently got iPhone 6S which has recently been replaced so battery is brand new and has some Apple warranty left. Also looks likely it will get the next iOS so it’s probably good for another year.

That camera on the Pixel though. And the amazing user experience being made by Google. That said, those bezels and having to battle with O2.... hmmmm... might just wait to see what Pixel 4 looks like.

They don't make it hard to cancel at all. You are getting confused with the car phone warehouse deal which was more a grey area / glitch.

It’s easy to cancel if you’re not worried about paying the first months line rental.

However if you want to pay the handset off and cancel the airtime immediately, O2 can give you the run around. Depends on who you get on the phone, some people had no problem last time but many others took days and numerous phone calls. Plenty of discussion on the previous thread.

I cancelled on the 3rd day and paid for 3 days as it was a long weekend. Was like £4 if you take it on 3 months you can cancel at any time.
2 days too late
Lots of pixel 3 deals around just recently, very tempted by them because of the great price but I'm gonna be strong and hold out to get the P4. I know I'll want to upgrade as soon as I see it announced, so I'll save myself the hassle & time of shifting on another phone.
Sorry I'm being stupid. But what options do I choose on the 02 page to buy this deal? Do I set the device upfront plan to the max or what? Thank you

If you click to see all plans, then you can choose. Either get any plan and then call up and pay off the device plan and cancel the airtime one. Or, I find it easier to select the option at the bottom to pay device in full.
Thank you. I contacted live chat and they gave me £75 discount and I paid upfront for the device with an airtime plan. I'm reading it can be tricky to cancel the monthyl contract. Any tips other than mentioning section 9.1 from the T&C's?

I just got a 3 and 3xl for me and my girlfriend. Live chat took forever and they sold out in our local store in the time it took so now being delivered tomorrow. They offered us £100 off if we took a 50gb or more plan, so just signed up to the £33 plan and will cancel before opening the phones.
Great deal everett.

So collected my pixel 3 in store just now. I haven't received the sim yet. Can I cancel the airtime already?
I called up I’m in a good position out of contract and due upgrade but they are not offering any further discount on the 377. What’s the lowest people have got the device for and how?

Best way is via live chat - They will offer a discount. When i did it last time they offerde £25 but i told them i'd heard they can do £75 and without hesitation they upped it to £75 discount and provided a link - Phone arrived next working day.

Rang up and cancelled the airtime under the 14 day cooling off period and ended up paying nothing other than the £302 for the handset.

Hi chilli, is that in the current pixel deal?
Locked to O2?

Still the best way of getting the discount yeah - Always is with the refresh deals

Locked to O2?

Sim free handset - open to all networks (Mine has my three £15 30gb / unlimited everything sim in it)
I was just offered £75 discount via Live Chat. Was just testing to confirm it would work for my colleague.
I got the Pixel 3 at £302 when this offer was on last, absolute steal
I called up 02 and cancelled, web chat wouldn't let me do it. I had to pay one month of the contract, but that still works out a great deal. Result, thanks OP.
I have just finished on the Live Chat and managed to get a further discount of £100 bringing the total price for the Pixel 3 64GB down to £277. Paid upfront.

Yeah, just put in your mobile number - doesn't have to be an O2 one.
What are you guys saying on live chat to get the discount?

I just asked if there's anything they could do on the price of the handset. Agreed to take a new plan on the refresh tariff and pay it all off now and they said they could do £100 more off if I took the 60gb plan. It takes a while as you basically then have to sit and go through all the T&C's with the rep in a tiny chat window and they'll eventually send you a link to your plan and give you a voucher code to take off the extra cash. I did make sure to double check these are sim free unlocked devices and a 1 month rolling contract. Cost me another £9 on each to get then delivered tomorrow.
All regular Pixel 3 specs are out of stock now, think O2 are getting rid of inventory for good now as mentions that offer is only while stocks last.
Do you have to activate the SIM to cancel the airtime contract? Can you just not put the SIM card in and call them and cancel it?
Just collected from store, had ordered the 3a half an hour before seeing this deal and cancelling.
Saved £100 and got a better phone - great post!

No you don't have to activate it to cancel, I never even put it on the phone when I did it a few months ago. You don't even need to wait until you receive the phone, if you login to your O2 account as soon as it's been dispatched ring up and cancel the airtime contract.
Can someone please help step by step? What monthly price plan should i be selecting? How much up front, months, data?

I had to go for the 15GB plan in order to get £75 off. I then used quidco for cashback, which has tracked for £50! so fingers crossed on that...

Collected the phone from an O2 shop and all seems good. Just need to cancel the sim now

Hi, if I don't have an O2 contract can I still get a refresh deal?
Just called O2 they said pixel 3 is now out of stock in the UK. Could I still get one locally?
If your local store has one, call up
