If they made one the size of an iPhone SE, maybe a tad bigger to get the aspect ratio right.... I'd be interested. I just don't get why everyone is carrying these huge phones, the SE is the perfect size to fit in my pockets. Where as I had to sell the iPhone X because it was too big and cumbersome, it would dig into my hip, and was so heavy while running :/ EURGH!

I know what you mean as I have a OnePlus 6 and it's wayyyyy too big for me. Although I find the SE too small. I think the perfect size for me was the iPhone 6, maybe a little bit bigger

Ads in 2019 haven't you ever used a adblocker
I'd get the 3a over the pixel 2 just for the size of the battery, 2700 mAh on the regular 2 drains fairly quickly

I've never seen that and the ones I get on my Android phone are about 5 seconds and not even one per video.
Zero ads on my PC when using Chrome for some reason!

Yeah I said it I was just pointing out that the browser YouTube experience often won’t support 1440p etc and is a rubbish experience vs the app so saying to use an Adblocker is nonsense.

This phone should really be £299 anyway IMO. I’m not sure at £349 if this is better than the £399 with free Nest Home Max or Chromebook (I know it’s gone now).
I have added heat for the reduction. However I think this phone is way over priced. It should be in £200-250 range considering the competition.

I would think it's a because a large screen lends itself to consuming media in an enjoyable fashion which is what most people use their 'phones' for most of the time.

I never understood that, use a PC or TV, why would you ever want to watch something on a tiny screen?

How does this compare to Pixel 2?

Basically less power-hungry processor + bigger battery give it an edge in battery life over 2.

3a has a more modern design (less bezels/aspect ratio), headphone jack, much faster charge

m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9408&idPhone2=8733

2 has better modem, 2 front-facing speakers, more premium build, more compact, palm-friendlier; IP67 dust/water resistance, slightly better screen (amoled), better scratch-resistance, better processor (but worse GPU), better video recording, etc

My personal view is that 3a still has to fall in price a bit to become best option in midrange ($200 in U.S. atm, Best Buy)

Pixel 2, on the other hand, as older model should be easier to find at/below £300 line brand new. It's a great phone and that explains why it holds well. Google after-sales support second to none for both

Below is good deal for 2XL, bigger battery + better screen, 128 GB - phablet though

I would have said that but I said that before and people were defending it at £399 off the back of the camera alone - which I think is wrong, a good camera is important but it’s not as though the competition has terrible cameras. When this hits £250-300 new, I think it becomes a compelling alternative for many.

Thanks. I have the Pixel 2 XL, was thinking to get this for a family member. The camera is the best thing about the 2 XL.

You're welcome. Some people/reviewers reporting lack of brightness outdoors on 3a, but this problem doesn't affect 3axl apparently. Battery also upped to 3,700 mAh. Looks like the best model of the two, if you don't mind size.

Read atop thread it even supports wireless charging, though I doubt that. Definitely not the case with 3a.

I also own 2xl and I love design, premium feel and screen. In 1st/2nd gen screen resolution was higher on xl model, that changed with 3rd I believe.

Glad you enjoying yours too. Prices of 3rd already very interesting on contracts, wouldn't mind a regular 3 next year maybe.

Cheers

I have the 3a, and it is truly amazing. Convinced a mate to swap his S10+ SD855 for one too! He had an issue with audio quality, and finds the 3a better! :P

The 3A is not a big phone by today's standards.
It's quite light as well, I've just bought one and I'm using it more than my iPhone X at the moment, battery life and the camera are very good.

Because most people don't have a TV or PC with them everywhere they go?
Was debating on whether to go for this vs the pixel2 xl for the mrs and found out about Samsung A50 and went for it as it was:
Cheaper - £309 on argos
Bigger battery
larger screen
128gb with memory card slot
more cameras with android pie and live focus now with the new update
also dual sim as a bonus for those who use it

My two pence
Any indication of when this price will go back up? I will most definitely be buying this week to replace my tired s7, battery is long gone
Gone back up now
