How does the 3aXL compare to a Samsung galaxy note 8?

I have a Note 9 but honestly prefer my son's 3aXL. I've looked at specs and even looks and the Note is miles ahead on paper but in actual day to day use, the battery, the camera, the pixel is amazing. I will be buying one next.

I noticed this has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor in it - isn't that a little behind?

I bought an Honor View 20 earlier this year, and it was insanely fast. However when the whole Huwawawawaei shenanigans kicked off, I got rid and picked up the 3aXL instead. It is noticeably slower in comparison, BUT it's perfectly usable in day-to-day usage. I've never been a mobile phone gamer so can't speak to that performance, but the mild performance hit is more than offset by the insanely great camera.

If I get the missus to swallow a QS 670 will she end up with "a little behind"?
Sounds easier than having to listen to her moaning about diets lol.
Just sold my Pixel 3 last week because my 3a XL really is better.

I get 8 hours screen on time on this phone compared to 3-4 hours on both of the Pixel 3s I've owned previously. That alone is enough to make for any marginal difference in processing speed between the two.
Seems expensive for the 3a. Got a deal via mobile.co.uk for it on O2 for £21 a month with 2Gb data an unlimited mins and texts with £35 up front. That is only £5.50 more than my old SIM only deal. So works out £167.50 for the phone over 24 months.
Great phone for that price.
Not bad but to be honest I'd probably seek out a grade A 3/3XL which can be had for a similar price and have the better processor, wireless charging etc.

My main dilemma at the moment is between something like this (good camera, mediocre everything else) or a Oneplus 7 (mediocre camera, good everything else)

I do value the camera. But... hard to say if it outweighs everything else....

BTW I think buying from Google is a good shout, much as I'd probably buy the Oneplus from Oneplus. Simplifies matters if you have any problems, as you don't have any of the "your statutory rights are with the retailer but your warranty is with the manufacturer" complications which are especially prevalent with Argos.

For a decent comparison, the snapdragon 6** is like a core i5 and the 8** is like a core i7.

The ram is always more important

Dave Lee did a comparison released today about the Mi 9T Pro which is also known as the K20 Pro and there's some microstutter that pops up. Roughly the same price price but I think the overall user experience is going to be better with the Pixel 3a.

Then again the Mi 9T Pro is very new and will probably be at a much better price come christmas time so it might be better value then.
Even worse then the original one it replaced.Google desperate to flog these and I'm not surprised why.Absolute rubbish.Cheap and nasty overpriced underpowered and tiny battery and fantastic screen burn and please don't say they don't as I've seen 2 where I work with s reen burn..Google really did funk up on this one.

Very good price. Time to part with my P2.

I have a Pixel 2 however I can't think of a good reason to upgrade to a Pixel 3. I may buy a Pixel 4. My Pixel 2 has started to lag badly and reboot itself so I think in terms of conspiracy the latest couple of security updates have messed the phone up so you want to upgrade Designed obsolescence.
Got the 3a, very impressed. Runs perfect for daily users, I don't play games on it. Camera is so impressive

I got the 3a recently, new & sealed off ebay for £270 and its a lovely phone, smooth and snappy with apps and a fantastic camera. Battery life has been excellent too.
I own Pixel 3xl and very disappointed with performance. Generally performance is ok but its not fast as you expect from flagship phones. 3a processor should be even more slower. Its better to buy oneplus 6 with little more money. I had owned oneplus 5t and its performance was almost at level of iphone in terms of normal app to app navigation, app opening etc. Another thing you may not like is display. Mine 3xl brightness is very low and its difficult to read in outside light even when it's not full sunny

Yeah the camera/video is most important for me, followed by battery life, then maybe waterproof-ness. It doesn't have to be lightning quick. Samsung S7/8 fast enough.

I don't really care as I have nothing of a national security level to hide but let's be honest, if you think Google isn't American spyware you're kidding yourself. Who values your data more, I wonder, a random Chinese manufacturer or a US techno giant whose business is built around data mining and has been part of the NSA's PRISM project?

Google itself is the biggest Spyware! That’s also racist to begin with. Let us not forget that our own government spies on us 24/7 and they used America to bypass all our own laws.
People like you are the problem, you should be more scared of America and how much they spy on you than of a Chinese brand.

Your 2gb seems expensive and 24m?? I pay 5 £ for 40gb unlimited min and texts on BT/EE
Pixel XL 4 coming soon 🤫
Best phone I've ever had.
My og Pixel XL (2016) is still a dream to use after almost 3 years! Run a OnePlus 6(2018) alongside it but the Pixel is still great! Shows the software support is way better than any other android maker. Continuously adding features too.
Also buying direct from Google means customer service is second to non, Apple level.

No chance! Will be nearer £500 especially if they do release the 8GB version it will be over that. So far they've only listed the 6GB with 64/128Gb options for the Mi9T Pro.
It is also on sale on the Irish Google Store for €349 for the 3a and €429 for the 3a XL, which is £322/£396 with a fee free card like Revolut. You will get the same type of coverage and warranty as in the UK. Don't forget that buying from Google gets you preferential care, so let's say you need to repair your phone. They will send you out a replacement phone first and then you send yours back. That's how it has worked for me since I bought the Pixel 2 XL from Google.
