Bring Your own Bottle to Pizza Hut!

I had an e-mail from Pizza Hut today including this new scheme they are trying out.

After 6pm guests are allowed to bring either a bottle of Beer or Wine with them to enjoy with their meals for free.
This to me seems one way they are trying to get more people through the doors.

This can be combined with the £5 special 5 offer Monday to Friday. So this could mean Pizza, Salad and a Bottle of Wine for less than a tenner!

T&C's
BYOB Terms and conditions: Offer valid from 14th May - 30th June 2012. At participating Dine In restaurants only. No voucher is necessary. Guests must purchase a main meal (pizza/pasta) to be eligible (per person purchase). Guests who buy a main course are entitled to bring any bottle of wine or can/bottle of beer. Guests cannot bring their own spirits (including alcopops) or soft drink. Over 18's only. Identification may be required. Responsible drinking will be enforced by the staff in the Pizza Hut Restaurant. All alcohol must be consumed on the premises. Pizza Hut has the right to amend or withdraw this offer at any time without prior notice.

I imagine they would give you a glass, I only had the e-mail today though but will be off there this week to try it out!
I thought they sold beer - so then why would they encourage you to bring your own???
that would be embarrassing!
Time to go for a **** up at Pizza Hut!
that's abit of a weird suggestion that you can bring your own wine or beer when they already provide drink at their facilities... are they suggesting their own beer isn't up to standard? maybe it would of been a better idea to update their drinks department instead of advising customers to bring their own oO
Maybe I can bring my own pizza along too? - I'll bring one that actually resembles a pizza - you know, as opposed to the greasy, sausage-stuffed-crust, plastic-topping, cheapo-cheese smeared disc of garbage that I would otherwise have to eat.
I can bring my own sausage.
Stupid idea. A better idea is to lower the pizza prices, Dominos need to learn that too

Pizza Hut drinks weren't exactly extortionate to begin with as they included free refills.
I know people who shared drinks in order to save a couple of quid.
Okay, I was one of those people.

Heat for increasing people's knowledge of BYOB - I wonder what scheme is being conjured.
Maybe they've found some children who will manufacture Pizza Hut clothing for even cheaper than previously and so some costs are further cut... there is just no way of knowing...

Nevertheless, good to know.

One final query - any suggestions as to why alcopops are prohibited? I'm sure a lot of the Pizza Hut 'regulars' (no pun intended) are students...

Because people were using them to smuggle out the salad. By people I mean me.

Maybe spirits aren't included in their BYO license. Or they are trying to discourage excessive drinking. Plus of course, the vast majority of 18+ students would happily drink beer or wine anyway - alcopops are more for children.

Enough profit on their 'pizza'. Bit revolutionary, I like the concept
I can't find any mention of this on Google other than in this thread.
Can you attach a copy of the email if this is correct???!
I'll bring Domino's

How on earth do you get enough salad into an alcopop bottle to make it worth smuggling out??
Sounds like an idea worth trying from a business perspective. I guess the concept is a little too much for some people who can't understand why they are doing it when they already sell beer. Heat for me :-)
This idea is used alot in Australia where you can bring your own wine and pay a small corkage fee. Godd idea, should happen more ofter.

If this country had better weather we would have more of a Cafe Culture and meals would be eaten outside more. People are more sociable when they drink outside in the nice weather but then they start fighting lol

And get smoked out by smokers as we are in Spain. Go outside for a nice meal & some #### sits next to you & you vanish in a cloud of smoke. Regarding PH. In the past some of their pizzas have been OK, but on a recent £5-00 deal meal we went to the pizza was very bad & the salad was off (you know when it tingles on the tongue etc). I complained to PH head office & after a few weeks got a letter back saying sorry blah blah & have informed the PH in question & they will contact us. The letter came over a month ago & we have never heard from the PH in question.
"All alcohol must be consumed on the premises."

mean you cannot "take" your own bottle away once you enter their premises?

considering its students who work there maybe they take the unfinished alcohol and pour it into a barrel and drink for nothing once the customers leave, ie instead of a pension scheme this may be one of the perks.
I used to love their buffet deal at lunch,it's gone right off,not enjoyed it the last two times we went.

Maybe people need the alcohol now to detract from the pizza X)
Maybe they are hoping that people order their beer as the op quoted "a bottle" does that mean one bottle only ?:)

You wanna make something of it?
Which pizza company is it currently advertising something along the lines of genuine Mozzarella on their pizzas, while the picture shows what appear to be cheese granules falling onto a pizza base?

Since when has mozzarella come as (dry looking) granules?

These people are probably happy with the carling or budweiser that's served. I'd rather bring my own.

You wanna be starting something, you wanna be starting something........ moonwalks off aaaaaawwwooooo
We went for the £5 pizza deal a couple of weeks ago, completely lacking in toppings and cheese. Shame as would be good value for a fiver.

Yeah, i am going to look at you in a funny way and flick a 'V'.........................oh yeah, it wouldnt be Britain if i didnt smash my empty bottle over your head as well.
I had an e-mail from Pizza hut last night. Can't see anything about BYOB.
Going to take a keg
No mention on the T&C's as to the maximum size/volume of the single bottle of wine

yummy
Fine dining at its best. Would sir care to sample the smooth, sensual and aromatic Chardonnay or perhaps the exotic and flavorful Lambrini? Freshly imported from the most exquisite of foreign markets that is Lidl, of course.
Most of the Indian restaurants in London have been allowing this for years..They let you bring in bottles of spirits and mixers too!!!

Dear connoisseur, deciphering Lambrini exquisite bouquet of aromas, I would describe it as a robust, full bodied masterpiece, yet velvety, with a fruity character. It manages a sophisticated balance. Harmony among its components; a balance of acid, alcohol, fruit and tannins.
