Just spotted Planet Earth Special Edition blu ray in Sainsburys for £15. At work at the moment so unable to upload pic from my phone yet. I dont often bother posting instore deals without being able to provide proof straight away because someone always mentions it and the posts go completely off topic! Lets see what happens...

Have a blu-ray player? Yes? then you need this.

Whats the difference between planet earth and the special edition ?

The normal Planet Earth has no extras whatsoever the Special Edition contains:

•The diaries (10minute "making of") that for every episode
•Great Planet Earth Moments (45 minute best of - goes into more detail of what the camera men had to do get some of the shots)
•Natural World: Secrets of the Maya Underworld
•Natural World: Snow Leopard
•Natural World: Desert Lions
•Audio commentaries
•Music only episode play
•Booklet

The Natural World Episodes are 45 mins long each and go behind the scenes and into more depth about some of the imagary and animals briefly seen in Planet Earth.

And the Special Edition is a spectacularly bad transfer compared to the standard edition - You're better off buying it on DVD than buying the Blu-Ray Special Edition.. Seriously, DO NOT BUY THIS!!

Seriously......get a life

Not available in Lancaster or Morecambe
They were going to check Preston too but I'd already spent too long holding up the line.

what do you mean get a life? this is a problem.
you can tell if you get the 'faulty discs' as they will have a certain number on them.
they will send you new discs though if you get the faulty ones

The faulty discs have long been replaced. It was the first edition run only and every print since has been the fixed discs. I bought this Month or so back from Amazon and these problems have long gone. If you spend the time reading through the above forums you'll also read that 2entertain replace any faulty discs also!

I could not agree with you more............this is a quality product exactly what bluray
is about.........quality

If you have a blu ray player then you need this in your collection. Some of the scenes are just jaw droppingly stunning. Must have and a good price. Voted hot :-).

Just seen these in Sainsburys (Tamworth - 2 left on the shelf), but they don't say Special Edition anywhere.

Does the genuine SE version say so on the packaging ?

shady

Yeah totally different covers : Special Edition and Normal Edition

Can anyone confirm that it was the Special Edition in Sainsburys - as this is not a hot deal otherwise ?

Did anyone other than the op get these?

Didn't have it in my local branch. Just had the DVD set for £12.

Just ordered from The Hut, it's £17.85 but they'd sent me a 10% code so got it for £16.07. Quite happy with that.

Not worried about the dodgy disc issue, it seems 2entertain are more than happy to swap them and are even sending affected people a free Attenborough DVD as well.

Does anyone know if this price is only available in store as the online site is showing it as £17.99? Still hot either way!
