suprised this hasnt been posted, Full carbon frame Shimano ultegra groupset weighing in at 8kg for £999?

thats a damn good deal...

if you upgraded wheels for a couple of hundred quid after purchase you would be down to about 7.5kg which is seriously light...

just in time for the good weather to dissapear!

amazing hotwill they do credit boilerneeded

Seriously wish I had £1000 for this. Need to get saving!! Thanks OP voted hot.

Planet X offer great value but they are very bland.

The Pro Carbon frame is a very old design, but for the price you will struggle to beat this spec.

Voted hot, would I buy it? No

EDIT

Very poor wheelset, would rather have a 105 groupset and decent wheels.

You don't get a bike for £200, only bike shaped objects.

There's something about owning a really classy bike though, def worth buying a bike you really like, you soon forget about the cost..

Most people pay more than that on fuel each year before you add vehicle excise duty, insurance, servicing, MOT etc etc

Suddenly doesn't look so bad.

completely agree with a the frames being a little bit bland but a decent wheelset and and 105 groupset at this price and id vote hot, wheels are a relatively easy (costly as most bike bits are) upgrade, if i was buying myself id go second hand, which i was i have done and very happy

but spec for price same reason as you i think this is a cracking price

i know it sucked spending £1500 on a car, £200 on tax, £900 on insurance, £40 breakdown cover, £100 a month on fuel, then getting hit with £600 for a gearbox...

so i packed in all that car nosense abotu 6-7 months ago and haven't looked back

Not an option, would take me too long to walk the 14 miles to work, I cycle it in approx 45 mins.

Also, this is a top bit of kit for that price. Surprised it has ultegra for that money plus it's carbon and a decent make. Usually if you get a bike at this spec and price it's only available in one size and is in a clearance as it's 3 years old. Heat added. Awesome deal.

if your genuinely interested probably worth giving them a call..

Just bought a Planet X - if you like biking then it's a cracking piece of kit. I use it to commute 5 miles to work too. So easy to pedal with its weight. As other posters have said, it is a lot of money, but if you justify it as a way to get to and from work, keep fit and enjoy your leisure time then it is rather cheap really - but I appreciate its not for everyone.

I don't consider paying a grand for a bike a lot of money at all. Some people who are seriously into cycling pay a lot more than this.
Although at the other end of the scale, I don't think all bikes at £200 are a BSO. Some of the Carrera's are in this price bracket and I wouldn't put them in BSO territory.
BSO's are the supermarket and some of the Argos crap.

your opinion is of literally 0 value to the majority of people who view this thread.

just as it is in every other bicycle thread you comment in.

you keep trolling cycle threads with this, and people keep pointing out you posted a deal for £140 sunglasses...

My mountain bike cost more than my car, and my car was chosen for its ability to carry my bikes. Priorities that all seem fine to me.

Not sure on the stats as far as cycle ownership and car ownership but as you are please tell us.

Personally I do own a car, but I do over 2.5k miles a year to and from work on my bike, on fuel alone that saves me about £350 a year without the additional wear and tear on my car. In addition I reap the health benefits.

You seem very negative against cycling in general, did your daddy take the stabilizers off your bike too early or something?

?

Sorry did I confuse you? You think people who spend a grand on bicycles are suckers, but consider £140 for a pair of sunglasses a deal. I found that ironic.

If you must troll every cycle thread at least come up with some original abuse rather than cutting and pasting?

It hasn't got this, it hasn't got that, the frame is an old design, blah blah blah! It's £999.99!

Does this bike come with a basket to carry a van load of tools 60 miles each way...if so a bargain.... even though i could be late for work....!

Hot bike for the money the frame is comfortable for sportive rides although a bit flexy for heavier riders like myself.
Best spec for that money.

Not so sure thats true anymore.
Most of the newer models like the new Pro Carbon, RT57 , RT58 and even the Sram Force N2a are pre assembled in the same factories that make the frames.

The still builds in the UK as well as custom builds put together by their excellent mechanics in Sheffield

£999 for a bicycle

I have a very godd bike that I "found "on the Council dump.It needed tyres and a saddle.Spend a grand if you have the ability to win races but for ordinary folks its a waste of £800 .

I got this when they were doing it with sram red. Ultegra good too although they do cut corners on wheels chainset and brake calipers. Great frame. I swapped the wheels straight away with rs80's which can be had for £299. Replace before riding the wheels and then sell them as new in eBay. Climbs great with rs80's and best bang for your buck wheel set at this price (imo).

The ignore button is getting a damn good thrashing tonight.

Anyway, nice bike with a decent spec. I'm still not a massive fan of the P-X carbon frames, but a cracking 'C2W' friendly deal for someone.

there is more to life than punching keyboard and laughing out loud like a lunatic. E.g. Cycling

good find

I can understand some people's love for bicycles.

But if you compare a bicycle with a car, that's plain stupidity. You can go from London to Edinburgh in one day by a car, but you will not be able to do that in a bicycle. You will also have to take longer countryside routes, maybe even go through fields/lakes as a bicycle will not be allowed on the motorways. I don't think it's worth the trouble, but if you still love a bicycle you can try.
