Hot deal!

Feck! Damn hot! Wish my Cycle Plus voucher was here

has anyone gone from shimano to SRAM? I've always used shimano (105 or ultegra) and just wondered if anyone has gone from one to the other and how they found it?

great price! Also with a decent chainset. How good is SRAM road kit? Never used it.

Hot

Wow now that's value for money,I'm not sure about sram either,is it any good compared to say 105? Not sure why it says 20 gears in the description,it has 22 unless the parts listing is wrong

Banned

Don't expect PX to put it through the workshop.

I've not owned both but ridden and serviced both. Personally, I think shimano kit feels better put together, but both work excellently if set up correctly.
It took about 100 yards to get the hang of double tap and the only real advantage over shimano is that the brake lever stays in one place where as the shimano can move slightly under hard braking, nothing scary,
just need to be aware of it.
Rival is the equivalent of 105, force being ultegra and red being dura ace. I would expect the rival to be lighter than 105 and if the rival has the yaw front derailleur, that is great, I really wish shimano had thought if this instead of their crappy trimming.

ordered.

I went from ultegra to sram force 22. Have to say I prefer the SRAM. Get a good solid gear change. Took a ride or two to get used to the double tap but after that it's great. Sometime find myself shifting the wrong way when I jumped on the non sram bikes

great deal. for another £200 they offer their carbon wheelset

Wow fully carbon, great deal

Is this kit on sale. What makes it such a hot deal.

where does it say that?

Summer commuter maybe?

hate the fact they charge you an extra 10% on c2w scheme but i'm ready to pull the trigger

I'm waiting for the ultegra 6800 for £999 again

Great value. SRAM Rival is around 105 equivalent. Had 20sp Rival on a Boardman Team Carbon for the last 4 years and it's did me proud for about 15,000 miles until someone nicked it last month.

Hear, hear. Love my Pro Carbon Ultegra, but that 10% charge still annoys me a year later!

Ouch, where was it stolen from?

^^ can't believe they upped the price by £200 a couple of months before the TDf. anyway, just applied through the C2W scheme as my Cube HT just ain't cutting it on my 16 mile round trip any more.

Ssssshhhhhh, don't tell the Mrs as that's 2 bikes which are gonna be stored in the spare room.

C2W charge the retailer a ten percent fee, so it's not all that unfair for them to pass it on, where the bike is on sale at a lower margin than normal. If they didn't, some would be sold at a loss.

Now, can anyone find me a full carbon hybrid for this sort of price?

I bought this bike a couple of years back when they did the sram red deal for £999. It's a great bike for this price, nice and light, good strong wheels, I'm not sure what rival is like but the sram red on mine still shifts like new 3 years down the line.

Decisions decisions. I was nearly ready to go for a cube peloton until my work colleague showed me this.

Bike bargain season is starting now, sure there will be plenty of bargains on road bikes in the coming months. Not sure many will top this one though.

Sportive geometry?

Have a procarbon ultegra with FSA team 30 wheels, great bike, even my pinarello dogma riding colleagues are impressed with the set up, don't know about SRAM but Planet X also a joy to deal with, hot!

Blame the c2w scheme that takes 10%

There is no need for the middle man either so blame your work for being lazy

Good price but don't get sucked into the whole Carbon frame thing. A cheaper carbon frame can be a lot worse ride than a decent metal frame. Voted hot though as some good components and good overall cost.

I switched from shimano to SRAM on my MTB and I wouldn't go back. Never had SRAM on a road bike tho

I've just bought a Peloton as my winter/training bike. It's a very striking looking bike and a great spec for the reduced prices around at the moment. Complete 105 groupset and mavic Aksium wheels aren't on any other sub-£1k bike afaik. And it only weighs half a kilo more than the Planet X. Buy a frame size up from what you normally ride as the sizing is small.

Having said all that, I also have a bike with Sram Red and love the solid mechanical feel. (I've had rival/force too and they're very similar). I also prefer the fixed brake levers, but it's dead easy to switch between systems and bikes and whichever one you buy you won't go wrong. They're both massive bargains.

If you are unsure about SRAM rival, I've done about 10k miles on it, very reliable, gear changes are smooth, but the swing action isn't as buttery smooth as ultegra, but I prefer that its on a different lever to the brakes, given a choice between rival and 105, I'd take rival, I've gone ultegra on the cassette and chain, main for strength and longevity reasons.

£800 for a bike lol.... don't forget ya skin tight gimp suit and cone head helmet to go with it.

Good to hear the +ve comments about SRAM, I heard a few negative ones about SRAM Red breaking, so that's put my mind at rest. This looks a real bargain.

Oh how we all laughed, every time someone posts a deal with a bike over £400, we always get one douche who wheels out the same comment! Maybe next time if you aren't interested in the deal, just jog on! Judging by the heat it's got people realise it's a damn good bike for £800. Leave those of us who appreciate a good deal to do so. If I''m not interested in a deal I just move on to the next one, I certainly wouldn't waste time commenting! Oh & just so you know you won't need a "cone head helmet" for this as it's not a time trial aero bike!

It's a damn good deal! Heat's been added, even though I don't need another bike! Thanks for sharing Redcup! :o)

I was thinking about buying this on the cyclescheme. I was also considering the following bike for £850 from Decathlon:

http://www.decathlon.co.uk/mach-700-carbon-road-bike-id_8290154.html

Any views on which is the better bike?

I'm just about to take the plunge with this without trying it first - something I told myself I'd never do. Oh well !! Could someone advise me - I'm 6'2", should I go for a L or XL? Thank you and heat to OP.
