I think you would be better off with a van, but it's worth a try.

I picked up a few of these, big enough for packing away DVDs and shoes but things like toasters and games consoles are just a bit to big for then. I would say these are the same size of 6 bottles of wine. hope my bad explanation helps someone

Debz, you should try underbed storage boxes, they are ideal for storing stuff under the bed

Picked up 3 earlier (are a dark purple colour). Dimensions are 28cm width x 40cm length x 19cm depth.

Next to an A4 sized magazine....

Does anyone know how many fractions of a double-decker bus one of these boxes can hold? I have 3 of the buggers, and intend to chop them up into small parts for easier storage (obviously) so your calculations will be much appreciated.
    Get to it, maths wizzes!

have been called a hoarder many times so i know my boxes! i have getting onto 100 including these.
as previous poster said these store inside each other when not in use. the downside is that they are not square so not ideal for storing things like CDs, DVDs, books etc. but fine for storing things like small electrical items e.g. cables. they are thin plastic but ive had some for years and so far none have cracked. well worth £1 if you need boxes of this size with lids. if you need larger boxes look elsewhere.

6 bottles of wine = 0.75l x 6 = 4.5l are you sure you were talking about the 14l boxes?

Just a bit of warning on buying cheap plastic boxes. I bought ten from Wilco to store some items and after 12 months needed to move them and found they fell apart almost on touch. Suppose the store was too cold for the plastic and the plastic was too thin to cope. Also make sure if you are intending to place these on top of each other that you don't store anything too heavy as the tops might crack all the way down the lot of them.

Then I would say these are DOUBLE that height then, I have the underbed ones and they are pretty slimline.

I bought these kind of storage quite a few times.
I think it is too small for moving home. Also normally they are quite very thin, so you will not be able to put it a heavy item.

But it is ok it you out it in the cupboards

I had one fall out of the loft full of Christmas decorations.
It exploded quite fantastically with shards of plastic firing in all directions.

Not saying that's a fair drop test, just that they can splinter and snap horribly when they do go. Not for the kids to play with.

I will get a few of these for my smaller items when moving , then use them as storage in the kids room but for my bulkier items Staples do huge 60 & 80 litre ones quite reasonably priced for the quality , some with clip locks and wheels & you always get a free gift with Staples too , often quite a nice one! (_;)

I am glad these are purple as don't fancy the black for some reason , the Staples ones are pretty clear so you can see what is inside and look VERY sturdy but you get what you pay for I suppose

Thanks OP , these will still come in handy for the price! x

They are built really well for stacking too, with the advantage of storing the inside eachother when they arent in use.
I see me going back for some more...

pretty flimsy, will do a job, dont take well to stacking more than 4 high, lid is particularly prone to cracking.
    Worth a quid.

I have had a few of these for about 3 years now. Durable, the lid shuts ok but it is perhaps smaller than you might think. You can easily fit a adult size shoe box in it so if you are thinking of using it for small bits and pieces it's perfect.
  33. northerngeek's avatar
@baalberith way too small for LPs.. would be ok for larger size shoes though.

For anyone wondering how big these are, these popular folding crates are 32 litres, so the Poundland cheapie will hold about half as much

I genuinely wanted to know the size of these - width , length, if there's anybody out there, nod if you can....
