Another Richer sounds deal!!!!! Just went in store and found sets of platinum series hdmi leads reduced to £2.99 from £39.95. checked on website and this is a national in store deal. I bought mine from the Cardiff store. I have picked up three of them but still had about 10 left. Happy bargain hunting. And before anyone mentions pundland hdmi leads, yes you can buy cheaper but I've just opened these up and they are superb quality in comparison.

Great deal if you believe they're worth anything like £40 to begin with...

> they are superb quality in comparison.

How much better quality is the all digital picture on these then?

Good found OP. Just want to mention that there are many choices of different length of HDMI cables on Amazon at a reasonable price and many of them come with lifetime warranty- just for a total peace of mind

Ask WhatHiFi?

Wonder what the going rate for platinum is.

Ask WhatHiFi?

Why? I’d prefer to ask the OP who has direct experience of both, but thanks for your input

It has been said that expensive hdmi cables offer no improvement in picture quality because it's digital...I have experienced hdmi cable where you get "sparkles" randomly on the screen (but continuously) to varying degrees using pound shop or some cheap ebay cables (issue was fixed by a different cable)...so I guess there is a minimum quality requirement for them. Don't know how this works with 4k...haven't got a 4k telly yet

Tell me when you do...
And leave your address for me too.

Are the suitable for UHD ? The answer could be on the package which states LCD, PLASMA ,sounds a bit old tech to me

Not all HDMI cables are the same, you have different versions. For 4K HDR you need HDMI version 2.0b otherwise you might get screen flicker when trying 4K @ 60hz.

The guys in richer sounds said these are not suitable for 4k tvs

In answer the to "quality" I'm in a good position to answer this. Because I am not one to pay over the odds for cables or connectors that do the same as cheap ones. I've bought plenty of pundland hdmi leads but by saying that "I've bought plenty of them" because after 6 months to a year these have failed on me and I have had to replace. Now, I have previously used these type of hdmi leads (5m) length and they have been amazing. I use them on my av unit, connecting a ps, now box, dvd etc. Now, I'd never pay £40 for a 1.5 hdmi lead but £3...... Yeah, I'll splash out a bit lol.

I wasn't aware of a 2.0b cable. There's a 48G cable. But that's mainly for 2.1

Well whatever your thoughts are on over priced cables, I think it's fair to say these will almost certainly be a much better build quality than a £1 cable and for a very cheap price I'd certainly buy these.

I've had a few super cheap cable fail, giving sparklies or weird green screens and other odd connectivity problems.... but I've also got some cheapo leads that are just fine.

The irony of keyboard genius. You berate another user but are just about clueless on how to contribute to the site.

Lmao at RRP

A 99p 1.5m HDMI cable will be just as good as a £50 1.5m HDMI cable.

Not necessarily. As others have said some of the really cheap ones can give errors on the image and audio. Plus they may wear out quicker over time if moved about a lot.

HDMI cables are well known as a money maker for stores, conning people into thinking they need to spend (like this) £40 on a 1.5m cable to get the best sound and image. Yes, you need a cable capable of supporting the standards your equipment needs but you don't need to spend >5X to find one. A (none!) prime example is Amazon basic cables that are so popular for the majority of peoples' needs.

No Sherlock.
But yeah, most folk are constantly whipping their HDMI leads around the room with abandon for their non portable devices.

With this I can play Blu-ray movies in $K on my old Tube TV and no Blu´-ray player.

I use my Poundland cables to control the kids behaviour; the missus always complains about the interruptions when watching her soaps.

I've got a gold plated usb cable and I swear my music sounds better.

Wow even a cheap cable deal can whip up a frenzy with those keyboard warriors. If this was plated with nazi gold you could understand why people resort to name calling and belittle others but it's an HDMI cable that is probably a decent deal at this price.

That you categorise that as berating and not ‘trolling’ fills my cold dead heart with glee

I picked up two of these from Richter Sounds in Southampton when i picked up my Oled 55CV, i said to the guy when i was paying i will have a couple of those leads as well please. It wasn't until i got home and saw it said 1.5 . So i'm a bit disappointed with the guy for not saying anything when i bought them. sad he just wanted to rack up an extra £6.00 in a sale.

If you walked in to a pharmacist and pointed to the XS or XXL condoms. Would you expect a snigger or a compliment? You pointed to what you wanted, no questions required.

Yes, necessarily.

Digital quality is no different. Build quality is a completely different argument.

Yea of course digital is digital on off etc. The whole point of the argument is the quality between the cheap, cheapest and not so cheap cables, and the cheapest not being able to deliver that digital signal without issues.

I would expect neither, but i would expect a professional opinion and advice from a reputable retailer, and would have appreciated his advice in telling me those cables were not good enough for the tv I just paid £1600.00 for.

i wouldn’t think it unreasonable when purchasing a 4K hdr TV at the same time as the cables that they point out the incompatibility of the accessories you are buying.

Except in the comment it was referred to as 1.5. Which is the length of the cable and nothing to do with compatibility.
Now had it said 1.3 as in the standard then yes I agree the rep would have maybe been out of order.
At the same time for £3 it could have been for any other device in the house.
People are too quick to denigrate the people working in shops.
