Valentine's Day is on the way and as usual the romantically inclined HUKD'ers will be searching high and low for the ultimate original item to impress with !

Well here's one which should have him/her going "Awwwwww, he/she really does love me" and at the same time ensuring your evening is a comfortable one.

What you get is a Postcard sized (15 x 10cm) piece of wood (cedar I think but don't quote me). What you do with that piece of wood is down to your imagination and just how comfortable you want the evening to be !

While scratching something like John 4 Jane on the wood might not score too highly I doubt it would take too much initiative to come up with a heart wrenching design capable of opening the floodgates of desire.

The cynical among you will say that you can pop down the local builders yard and pick up an off cut of MDF for 50 pence to do the same thing but in all honesty that's not going to impress him/her when they ask where you got that wonderful idea from is it ?

So there we have it ! A load of waffle from me and a fairly unique idea from Play.Com (and others at a much higher price )
If you need help with the design pop into the Misc. Forum where I'm sure one of the regulars will help you out.

Just to add you can send this through the post as it is but I would recommend slipping it inside an empty (jiffy) envelope to avoid it going missing or getting damaged. Your call

Happy Valentine's !!

If I found out my other half had paid £6 for a scrap of wood I'd moan at him for wasting money when he could have got me a nice card from the card factory and a cute little teddy or something lol

Seriously, this is awful...but I get the feeling HUKD will go crazy for it.

I'd love my hubby to get me this, I think it's more personal than a shop bought card.

madmoys...hes probably in the shed now whittling away on a bit of old skirting board for you
...ahhh..and who says true love never dies,,,,
trust me guys..buy her chocolates

well if she's on a detox she may not appreciate chocolates but thorntons are usually appreciated.

If you want to play with a bit of wood do it properly and carve a spoon - or get get one of these cadwyngifts.com/wel…tml. Even a wooden kichen spoon purchased and decorated with a scratched on heart would say more than a tatty bit of card sized wood (because it would suggest you'd thought about it, even if we know you got the idea here!)

And who said that romance is dead. :whistling:

Is that basically just a postcard sized piece of balsa wood?

This could be the worlds most expensive balsa wood.

That is the sort of love token you would give if you had no money but still wanted to make an effort. So paying 5.99 for the block of wood in the first place defeats the purpose:pirate:
