This is my first post....

Just been to Currys and bought Play TV for PS3 for £37, their shelf price is £69.99.
Just Price match to Comet (£39.99) and they offer 10% of the differenc to. The sales woman looked rather amazed at the saving, best part of £33.

I see some have listed cheaper than this but I couldn't find any in stock anywhere.

seems like good deal, there was aparently a deal for 30 in gamestation a while bac but when i went into mine they said it must have been stock clearance and they had none i managed to pick up a used one for 35, not too bad and it still has a yr warranty so guaranteed to last aslong as new i guess.

At the moment it may be worth waiting, as with the launch of FreeviewHD i'm sure they will release new hardware soon.

Saw this going for £29.99 in SAINSBURYS

My local Currys store is selling this for £39.98...

Can someone just explain what this does. If i understand it it acts as a free view box. Not sure i understand what the PS3 side of things is about. Does the PS3 act as a memory to store the programs on. Is there any other way you use it with a ps3

Yeah I looked in Sainsburys but had no luck, I can't see Currys selling out in a hurry at £69 ;-)

Yeah it turns your PS3 into a freeviw box and you can then record programs onto the hard drive, it also allows recording of one channel while you watch another (its got a twin tuner), or recording whilst you plag games or watch dvd / blueray etc.

also dont forget the ps3 upscales sd to near hd so it will prob be better to buy this (because its cheaper) .but i think this has a hd tuner anyway but dont hold me on that

..........and if you have a PSP, you can watch TV or your recordings via remote play

PlayTV can be controlled using a PlayStation controller or Blu-ray remote control.
Twin HD (720p/1080i) tuners
Antenna input only. No antenna output.

The UK will be adopting DVB-T2 for terrestrial high-definition TV broadcasts, so the PlayTV will not give PS3 owners access to those TV channels.

code2006, you do realise your quote has proved you wrong?

These are especially good to use on the Irish border as they pick up both NI Freeview and RTE digital wheres the majority of Freeview boxes can not pick up the ROI channels.

Yeh me too, then I woke up:whistling:

Wow a true hot-dealer - your even dreaming of hot deals!!

Depending on the size of your PS3 hard drive. You may have to buy a bigger one.

It's been posted at £29.99 loads of times in the last few months. Makes this deal seem rather warm at best.

I was perhaps a bit unfair - it doesn't have a HD tuner which will be compatible with Freeview HD in the UK...

PlayTV also allows you to pause live TV, and rewind... great for watching live football when you want to make a brew!!!... and you get to skip the adverts later on if you spent long enough making the brew.... genius.

Unfortunately it does not fast forward to the lottery results, but hey.... cant have everything.

P.S. I can highly recommend the 640gb Western Digital Scorpio Blue Hard Disk as a top upgrade for this, if you have £80 spare that is.
