good price for CL6 definitely

Thanks OP, Just upgraded to 8gb !!

This is how cheap DDR2 got once upon a time. Nice to see DDR3 has managed it, due to more interest in this ram.

A couple of these and a Asus M4A88TD-M EVO/USB3 and a Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition, a bit of core unlocking (not guaranteed) and whack in a decent gfx card, and you have a pretty decent system for peanuts.

Wow this cheap, shame my motherboard only takes DDR2, upgrade time is getting more and more irresistible....

Just got some of this. Cheapest I have seen DDR3 for a long time. Can sell my OCZ stuff and then have 8GB in there. Bargain. (if it is compatible)

Nice Stuff, Now all i need is sandy bridge!

Yeah this is stupidly cheap, definitely time to get 4GB at least.

great price this!

thanks

About £15 per stick than anywhere else. Wouldn't be surprised if this sells out today or have play made a mistake?

Back up to £16.99:(

Awaits cancellation email......!!!

Well done to those who get it then

I currently have 3 GB of pc3-8500f in triple channel (CL7) in a desktop but trying to work out if this is better (faster) - any ideas?

EDIT: Worked out this would be better but the £9.99 sticks I had in basket have judt gone up GRRRRRR.

No it's not. PC3-8500 = (1066MHz) and PC3-10666 = (1333MHz). When you say triple channel are you using a Core i7 because as far as I know the Core i7 is the only cpu that can utilise ram in a triple channel configuration and some Core i7 only use dual channel I believe (need to go read up on this :p)

Yes I have Core i7 920 with the PC3-8500 in triple channel already and from doing some reading it looks like this would be quicker?

Also I agree this still looks cheap.

A couple of weeks ago I was looking at the prices on ebuyer and 4gb was ~£65, this was a crazy price, but £17 isn't bad, I bought the other stuff posted on Play for £18 and got 8gb for a small amount more than the 4gb I was looking at getting

Yes on paper using this in a triple channel configuration should indeed be the faster option (8.99ns vs 13.13ns at peak frequencies), although probably only noticeable when benchmarking. The downsides are that as they aren't a matched set the performance advantage may slip if you don't get a good selection. Also the overclocking potential is unlikely to be good.

The only reason I would consider a swap for these in your setup is if my current dimm kit was a branded one that I could sell for a tidy profit on ebay.

Thats cheap, Might buy some now for when the price triples in three years

I went for these if like me you want heatsink
OCZ DDR3 1333Mhz 2x 2gb @ Amazon

I spent over £60 for 4gb of this type of memory 6 weeks ago.
Furious.
Heat added.

Play have a bloody annoying habit of doing this. Putting up a great deal then claiming it was done in error.
They have got a LOT worse in the past year.
I stopped buying stuff from them because of their unreliability.
eBuyer I stopped buying from due to their "5 day free delivery" taking a lot MORE than 5 days.
Thank the lord Amazon and Novatech are still as good as ever (better in fact)

The OCZ are CL9.

I don't buy OCZ anymore they just dont offer the value they used too. Very disappointing ram products nowdays jazzed up with a fancy heatsink.

Why that m/board in particular? I'm planning a build just as you describe but don't know enough to know which mb to select. On the face of it there are cheaper alternatives with unlocking capability - so what's the benefit of the Asus you listed?

Sorry for the topic diversion, great deal.

Just gone for 3 of these at £16.39 each as they are a lot cheaper and quicker than anywhere else even at this price. Just hope I get 3 of the same for triple channel and they are in fact CL6 as stated.
