that link you just put up what is it? it doesn't work?

He meant to put this:
play.com/PC/…tml

Also FYI although yes this does act as RAM it does not work ANYWHERE NEAR as effective as internal RAM. So don't think getting a 4GB one of these will speed up your com it just helps.

Good deal though, cheers

Well may be you should have put them the other way round, the 4GB is a much better deal, and I might have read your entire post if you hadn’t shouted:whistling::p:thumbsup:

i juss use the stick for ram purposes 2gb is good enough for having it perpetualy connected to the port rather than using it for transfering files. 4gb would suit someone using an engineering program. Thanks for the comments

If you are not using it to boost your PC or as something to stick in your car radio - if you intend to keep it in your pocket - go for the titanium version, as its almost indestructible.

Very good data transfer speeds with these too.

Can the 4gb version be used as ram on XP or is it Vista only?

I'm not sure to be honnest, but ready boost is in theory also supported by xp & vista.

Thanks xtrem3x didn't see that earlier. Shame it isn't Xp as my work computer really needs more memory as it only has 256mb!!!

Youc an get it working on XP but only if you have admin rights (which I don't at work)

So go on tell us, where can we get a 4Gb one that meets the Readyboost standard delivered for less than £12.99 ?

thanks m8, my quidco has tracked!

hot from me. my pc needs a bit of a 'pick-me-up'

I know this sounds like a silly question but the 4gb version be better for readyboost performance than the 2gb version? I wouldnt mind paying the extra £4 if I knew there was an incentive to do so.

You can use Readyboost on XP. It just isn't called readyboost:

windowsxlive.net/?p=…337

It does the same thing moves the page file to a USB drive because it's quicker than creating a page file on your hard drive, as your hard drive is constantly being accessed.

Readyboost certified is basically something quick enough to make it better than using the Pc's hard drive significantly. So, a Vista readyboost drive will work the same in XP if you use the trick mentioned in the link above.

I'm not sure, but in theory should do if your doing alot of multi tasking. I'd wait for a more weighted opinion though

If anything it will make performance worse, usb is just way too slow compared to your internal data bus.

it's done wonders for my machine, i'm using usb 2.0

a heads up for users, most computers come with just 1.1 activated you have to get into your system menu when u boot up and set it to usb 2.0 you can usually get into the menu by pressing F8

What are you on about ffs, Try reading all the post’s
The 4GB was NOT in the title when I made my comment, I then subsequently did point this out. I put the link to the 2GB and 4GB drives in one of my posts, I was only trying to help the OP:)

Thanks, just ordered!

Sorry to disappoint but readyboost will only help if you have a limited amount of RAM like 512 or perhaps a gig. Anyone using 2gb or more of RAM isn't going to get much of a performance boost at all. TBH you're better off putting the money away for some cheap RAM.

i have the 4gb, its a pain , it will never eject properly, i have to just yank it out, its also quite slow when transfaring im actually thinking of sending it back i am that unimpressed

That's not readyboost though. Readyboost isn't just for your pagefile.

en.wikipedia.org/wik…ost

Again you'd be better off putting money away to buy another hard drive and putting the pagefile on there. If you are very hard up for money and don't have much RAM then it's a great deal but if you're really desperate to increase pagefile performance then get another HDD and if you're desperate to speed up your system them buy more RAM. You can get 2gb of DDR2 for about 30 quid if you hunt around and that will be much much better for your system than 2gb or 4gb of flash memory.

can you change the title of this as it is very misleading:

"Play.com SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive / Ready Boost Enabled + £8.99 QUIDCO FREE DELIVERY! 4GB version £12.99!!"

" + £8.99 QUIDCO" is not correct - you receive only 4% back of 8.99. I do not believe that "Lord_Annobis" was claiming otherwise however it is misleading.

Please switch around the price and the plus sign as I dont have a higher enough reputation to do it myself.
