I signed up with this thieving company last August, 10 weeks later I received notification of an increase. 3 months later another increase, to cap it all I then receive a questionaire asking how much increase I would find acceptable. I replied with a suitable answer and then last week received another notification of yet another increase. Started off at £38 last August, it is now £53. I have been with this company and previous owners, NTL,NYNEX,CABLE & WIRELESS for 26 years, paid by direct debit , never missed a single payment and had only one service call.
So much for a valued customer.... not worth tuppence.
Just left them because of continuous price increases and their “100mb broadband speed” only ever reaching 20mb at most. 7 month’s to look at a known fault on their broadband fibre with no guarantee the speed would ever reach 100mb. Absolutely appalling customer service lately.

Every time you get an increase letter you have a month to phone up and leave. I always use to like received them so I could shop around for better prices. Everytime I've phoned up to complain they have always credited my account the difference.

Do you have to phone up and state your leaving or can you just join up with a new provided (like you normally would with any switchover) within the 30 day window and have them take care of it and not get charged any leaving fees?
Left them to move to Sky 12 months ago and looking to go back to try out their new V6 box. Hopefully I'll qualify.
I'm sure my internet is disconnecting since I got virgin but they can't find any errors. My sonos system keeps losing its connection! It's quite annoying...

Same situation here. I'm happy with Sky but price is set to rocker and they are not interested in offering me a decent deal to stay. They will get 1 more chance later today or I'm taking this deal.
Seems this only comes with the tivo 500, the v6 box looks to be an extra £50 upfront?

Couldn't agree more. Currently pay for 70meg and get about 5. Waiting on a response from them following a complaint to their MD. Just like their internet, their customer service is slow...

V6 box is screwed when V BB goes down, idiot decision to make catch up etc and epg go via V BB, litterally they could have sold VirginTV/V6 services to anybody over any broadband if they wanted. Other than that a good box.
Might be picky however the deal here says 100MB but it's 100mb. 1MB = 8mb, which is why ISPs like to quote using megabits.

are you Ethernet or Wi-fi ? Wi-fi causes the issues, never had a issue once with Ethernet, if it still happens they will give you a new V6

I'm leaving for similar reasons although I did get more than 20mb. They were scaremongering saying BT fibre only reaches 3mb...naff off.
Would this work with refer a friend offer. As both of you can get £50 off each.
I've used the refer a friend offer before. A little incentive against the ever increasing prices.

No loyalty this days. Only way to beat them is keep switching every year. All the major providers care about is new customers. Was with VM for 20 year when they were Videotron but no loyalty discount. Only when I went to cancel, they tried to offer me a better deal. But too late.

When they send a price increase, you have e a right to cancel your contract within 30days of notification. with my price increase it went from £47 to £28 after I canceled and got a retentions call!
I fancy Virgin’s 300 down 20 up Broadband, but not at £48 a month.
As much as it pains me I have to say I'm really happy with virgins btoadband. With sky is get about 5mbs and with virgin I've had speeds of up to 140mbs on the PS4 and abiut 90mbs on the Xbox (No idea why the difference!) But I'm not happy about all these bloody increases and how being loyal means bigger all. I know someone who just joined for £28 a month!! Getting tv, bb and phone. Admittedly virgin took months to install so this reduced amount is a goodwill gesture. I got the letter and will be calling up for retentions once I've got some decent comparisons to say I'll leave them for.
It's a shame the upload speed is so crap with Virgin. You have to get their 300mbps down just to get 20mbps up.

Usually t'other way round. 2.4GHz is congested in most areas whereas 5GHz is a lot less susceptible as there are more channels available to use.

Saying that, 2.4GHz propagates better through obstacles than 5GHz so it might just be that you need to relocate the router or add an additional access point to increase coverage and throughput.

So cancel within 14 days of signing the contract and take this offer.
No its just the superhub 3 is rubbish, nothing to do with signal strength.
This deal doesn't come with the V6 box as stated in the OP, unless you pay £50 extra up front.

I've had similar problems since day one. TV and phone fine but broadband is very unreliable. Very slow never been anywhere near 50mb . Can stream any programmes if a computer is running. It also drops out 2or 3 times a week with no connection at all. Had them round several times with no improvement. Given up now. Contract ends in two months so will be looking for another provider. So much for superfast fibre.

What are you uploading that you need over 20mbps? Unless you're uploading over 12gbs of data every date I would say anything of 10mbps is overkill.

Even browsing/gaming won't take more than 500mb per day.

I have several security cameras that I monitor remotely. I'd consider Virgin's 200 down 12 up but not less than that. Currently I have Sky's 80 down 20 up (get 70/20) and it works well.

No it actually is. I have a SH3 and it's fine.

Let's say you have a SH3 in the next room. If you have a -79dBm received signal (RSSI) with a SNR of 11dB, that's bad. You'd probably only be able to achieve around 20-25Mbps max. at 5GHz using 802.11n (40MHz channel-width) with a client capable of 1x1:1. Now, if you go into the same room as the SH3 and get a signal of -67dBm with a SNR of 22dB, that's relatively good. You would probably be able to sustain a data-rate of around 80-90Mbps instead.

These values are important and dictate the data-rates that your device will be able to achieve in order to sustain a connection to the AP.

Although not on the site, if you ring up you can get Vivid 200 Gamer which is 200/20 for £5pcm onto of the 200/12 price.

Personally, I'm on HomeWorks+ 300/20 and it's great. Always a UK call centre and I next day SLA on all faults, even if I ring up at 7pm, 8am next day I have an engineer. I WFH at least once a week, and work in video content production, so move large files into the cloud a lot.

That's good to know, so 200/20 would be £42 a month then. No bad. How much are you paying for 300/20?

very much doubt its about 10 different devices, its the hub.
If you know anyone on Virgin Media and say they referred you you get £50 off your bill and so do they so win win for both. I done that too so I have £50 off my virgin media bill
jaddy38 m ago

It's the RF environment if anything then.

Also, 10 devices connected at the same time is asking for trouble if they're in different locations throughout the house.
