My old ps3 just got the RLOD

Need a new one this is the best deal I could find.

£159 - £10 with coupon code TD-MXTN for a reasonable £149.00

Free delivery with click and collect. Also I waited until I received the order before posting as I know how bad Tesco Direct can be with cancelling orders.

Also if anyone has clubcard - quidco etc if it works.

I know alot of people are going say whats the point of a 12gb PS3. But I have a hard drive and im getting alot of gear for the money. Plus next year when the ps4 comes out I will take this upstairs and have a cheap console and a blu ray player for the bedroom. (wife wont be happy).

10's of millions of people have a PS3 with accessories & their old HARD DRIVES.
If it breaks like mine did this is the cheapest option in the UK To get it replaced. Plus you get the new super slim version. Realistically if someone was buying a brand new ps3 for the first time they go for the 500gb bundle. This is the market I think sony are aiming for plus xbox have done well with their 4gb console.

Also I understand that this will support USB hard drives with a future update.

Unless this drops below the £120-£130 mark I don't know why users post deals for this console, it's not a good deal, your only getting 12gb of storage on a console that requires you to install your games.

COLD from me.
I DONT KNOW WHY THEY ONLY put 12gb... a microsd stores 64gb... its not like they will waste space
COLD Like MoneyEyes said, its a 12GB console, a decent price for this console would have been around the £100-£120 mark, sorry but Sony are milking the PS3 franchise too much!
X Box and PS3 are sold at a loss to their makers not profit and is there any game that requires 12GB install ?
Cheapest price around for this console. Heat from me.
If you already have a HDD you can fit then yeah it's not a terrible console but they are ugly and look tacky with that sliding Bluray tray but most of all if you don't have a HDD they are next to useless if you want PSN+ or even to buy online stuff too. Not to mention games that need to be installed.

Microsoft said they lost original X Box battle to PS2 because they fitted hard drive which cost extra .If X Box 360 can be sold without hard drive so can PS3 .

Well Dead Space 2 is a 12GB download before you install it from PSN.

GT5 needs atleast 8GB I think as does Rage. Other disk based games probably don't exceed 12GB but PSN stuff deffinatly does. Plus GT5 installed and a few updates for it and ya ain't gonna be able to install much else.

I think a lot of people are missing the point. Buy this for £149 and get a 1tb drive for £60-65 and you have double the storage for the same price the 500gb is selling for
Not all people download games, films etc onto their PS3s.
So 12gb will be more than enough for then.
cdkwookies thats not going to help as you have to format external drives to FAT32 and once that is done you cant have files larger than 4 gig, so it is useless as most games are larger than this and there is no option to install to external drivers any how!

pindi also most games need a mandatory install so with some of that 12 being taking up by OS you will only get to install 1 or 2 games, if you want to play something else at same time you will have keep uninstalling and reinstalling

edit

also i have had patches for games that are over 3 gig so what happens if you have a game installed but theres not enough room for patches- this version of the ps3 is next to usless.

Except the 360 doesn't force hard drive installs on most games unlike the PS3 due to it's slower disc read speeds on the blu ray drive. So Sony were stupid to consider this model. They could have at least shoved a 120gb hard drive in there. Personally, I wouldn't want to have to keep installing and uninstalling games to play them. Some installs can take over 10 minutes and thats not including any patches needed too.
Robert Taylor, I meant buy an internal 1tb drive and put it internally. The 12gb has an empty internal hard drive bay

It works like a modular stystem. Buy the 12gb ps3 70 quid cheaper this month and then buy your 1tb internal drive with next months pay. You get double the storage and spread the cost. I added heat but the coldness being dropped on this is illogical

I was going to post this deal here yesterday, but I guessed it would not go down well

I ordered this on Tuesday to replace my original YOLD 60Gb PS3, just needed the cheapest PS3 then put my old 500Gb HDD into this one. I understand the 12Gb is not for everyone, but it's a option for some of us. Some will buy for a media center or just to play COD, Fifa. Others will be like myself be replacing a faulty PS3 and this way I do not have to pay for the HDD I already have.

If the 12Gb is enough or you already have a HDD this is a good deal, if you want the larger version, buy the larger version. I'm happy we have a choice. Surely that is a good thing for us consumers?

I also agree I think this 12Gb should be about £120 - £130, but is not at the moment, so wait it will be eventfully
