I don't think it is, as far as I am aware the rollout for the matte, 10% lighter and 8% more energy efficient PS4 is staying with the 500gb with rollout to begin in Japan at the end of June.

SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT TO LAUNCH NEW PLAYSTATION®4 WORLDWIDE STARTING FROM JAPAN AT END OF JUNE

I'm sure this is just the same as the older 500gb with a 1TB HDD thrown in. I could be wrong.

Nice find OP, heated

So annoying how once again the people who support products at launch end up seeing the product sold later on with a hard drive size that should have been standard in the first place!

Just received a Shopto email about this model and they're asking £339.85 for it oO

Thats fab, hopefully it will force the others to drop their prices too.

Im still holding out for the MGS5 console so I dont have to share anymore.

Heat!

Buzz's thread:

Now that the media player is available, I am tempted to pick one up + Pro Evo 2016 out soon. I might wait for the CUH-1200 version. Does anybody know when the lighter more power efficient model is due for launch in the UK?

Do you really have a problem with size? I have 4-5 full games installed then loads of PSN games, i regularly delete old PSN games as you have a cloud library and they don't take long to download.

You sure your space isn't taken up by recordings? I don't know anyone who has a problem with 500gb

I can understand your frustration but I struggle to empathise. This always happens; it's the price you pay for investing in new consoles right away.

I never quite understand when people buy new consoles straight away. There's never a huge catalogue ready to play and the prices plummet after a year or so.

For people who have a slower internet connection, would like to keep their games intact, specially the digital ones, as constantly deleting and re-downloading takes loads of time.
Not everyone is on fiber and dw speeds with regular broadband is a pain.
If you can afford, replace the stock drive with the 2TB one, Seagate portable is of the right size and 2TB will give you loads of breathing room for quite some time.
It was at the lowest of £55, but currently trade at around £70ish, still you can keep an eye.

I think the problem is so many games need 40-50gb of your HD space these days. I definitely will upgrade the HD at some point. I just think the next gen should have had more storage from the off. It seems I am alone in this thought. People who have around 15 games and PS+ will feel my pain I'm sure.

I think now would be a good time to say I didn't buy it at launch, but it is annoying for those people that did, like many I know. Should have come with 1tb as standard I think. I waited for the white version and much cheaper than launch like a sensible person

what a clown u are.
if you adopt at start u have to accept anything imo like i did.
price drops, freebies, failures are all part of the gamble imo.

now if u was xbox one owner i could understand your pain because thats been a kick in teeth from 3 months onwards due to free games, price drops, kinectless etc.

i paid 389 for my ps4 on launch day and got 2 games with it and have never once regretted it because its chepaer now or u get a game and its £349.

i have played every game released on ps4 and i have about 190gb of space left on console.
it takes less than 40 seconds to install a game so games i have completed and dont play anymore i sell and delete or just delete.
most of the ps+ games are gash so havent kept many of them either tbh.

you mean sympathize surely.

Getting very tempted.... Do gamestop take money straight away or when they send the console?

Do a quick search online, a LOT of people struggle with space with the standard 500GB drive, most of them just upgrade it to 2TB though.

You really should read post #23

no need to upgrade for me, upgraded from day 1 (1st feb 2014) to a 1TB system done my mates one too to a 2TB system still got plenty of room

This is better than the deal from amazon.de in my opinion. But. I'm just gonna wait for the price to be around £250 with a game, and then upgrade to a faster 7200rpm hard drive.

Even though last time someone posted a PS4 without games you questioned why anyone would want to buy a PS4 without games.....
Consistency is key.

No, I pointed out that when you start to buy games that the cost of a solus console soon bumps up and becomes more than a bundle package as you are fully aware.

I'm missing your point however.

It seems the RRP of the 1TB Playstation 4 is £349.99 so by my calculation this still has £60.02 of a playing field before it even touches its supposed RRP. You could manage a couple of games with that.

Strange comment to make given that you weren't even an early adopter, did you make the comment just to rattle cages?
Anyway whilst it would be nice to have a larger drive I understand that they wanted to save costs wherever possible given that the unit was (allegedly being sold at a loss albeit a small one). The strive to cut costs is clearly evident in other areas such as the cheap headset.
Also why would Sony put a larger drive in when the competition isn't? It would make little sense. I'm glad that they spent the savings on important elements such as GDDR5 etc..

PS. I bought my PS4 on day 1 and I'm not annoyed in slightest.

Haha that's brilliant!

Man im glad I swapped my xbox one for a ps4. Made the mistake of buying the accursed box. Couldn't even masturbate in my own bedroom without wondering who was watching. Games took upto 90 minutes to install. PS4Rulez

Put a Hitachi HTS721010A9E630 Travelstar 7K1000 1TB HDD in my PS4 its a 7200RPM drive

It's great
