You are welcome to your opinion but having owned both there is next to no difference.

Yeah apart from the fact that the analogue stick rubber falls apart after a little bit of use. If you don't mind that then crack on, pal.

Not bitter just trying to be helpful. Wouldn't want people wasting their money, but at the end of the day it's your decision.

The newer model features analogue stick rubber that doesn't fall apart from regular use, can communicate with the PS4 by USB cable, and the light bar is in a more sensible position.

Cheers for that I bought a V4 version with my PS4 pro and was wondering why people say it's better.

The light bar is in the same position but they added the ability to see it from the front too even though nobody needs it.

Only 5% of the original first production run of the v1 controllers suffered from the rubber ripping, if people knew how to look after stuff it wouldn't occur at all. I have seen many v2s with ripped thumbsticks as well.

Absolute rubbish, 5%? Where did you pluck that figure from?
I looked after the original like I do all my gaming gear, and the left stick rubber fell to bits (probably because sport games eg. FIFA use the left stick constantly). In contrast the V2 has held up much, much better.

Have to agree both my original controllers the rubber buttons fell off and I didn't use it that much.New ones feel more solid.

I don't have to prove where I got the figure from, has the v2 been out as long as the original one? Nope and the new one shreds just as easy.

Yup because over a million people complained about the controller rubber ripping. It was fixed in the second batch of controllers sony made for the ps4 not the second version.

My V2 grips have already out lasted the original so I have to disagree again..

I'd have thought such a knowledgeable experienced gamer as you would have been on the Kontrol Freeks last gen, never mind current gen when all that analogue stick rubber gate kicked off FOUR YEARS AGO?

Never had a controller that necessitated it before. Once the rubber wore on my PS4 pads I got some but I don't like them, I'd rather just have a controller that doesn't fall apart from regular use.

Okay so your ickle cocktail sausage fingers don't need that wee bit more leverage many of us feel more comfortable with whilst gaming, no dramas mate

Terrible quality. Will fall to bits after a month.

Haha, not sure why you're getting personal. I have large hands and abuse my controllers, was still never an issue before the PS4 v1.

I'm not getting personal, was merely pondering how such a controller connoisseur as you wouldn't have ever used Freeks?

And I'm sorry I got it wrong seeing you've assured us you got Pat Jennings size shovels attached to your wrists but I was gauging it by my own personal experiences with Loyal Junior the younger. See when he was a wee sprat in single figures/low double figures with ickle paws and midget Tyrranosaurus Rex arms he used to pull the Freeks off the PS3 controller when gaming but now he's pushing the big two-oh and fully grown with man size hands and bandy Joe Hart length arms he wouldn't do without them on the PS4 and Xbone controllers.
