PlayStation Plus 1 year (Card) £29.97 @ Tesco Entertainment +£2.40 Quidco

For those who prefer to give a physical item/gift, a few retailers are selling the PlayStation plus cards at the current promotional price that's on PSN (£29.99).

After Quidco (8%), the price at Tesco Entertainment works out at around £27.57 which is a bit more off the price.

Also, the card won't be affected by the price change back up to £39.99 on the 20th of this month which is good for me as I'm getting a PS3 for my Birthday on the 25th.

Hopefully this will be useful for others who are thinking about Birthday or Christmas presents.

(Update: My Quidco has just tracked at £2.40).

That's handy, although you can typically buy the PSN credit codes for averarge of 20% off if shopping around, thus making the PS+ sub if bought from the PS Store with the credit even cheaper. So that's PS+ 25% off at £29.99 + average 25% off on PSn credit, should make the PS+ subscription around £21.

Please show me where to get it at this price as the psn+ goes back up in just over a week so would need this extra 20% deal you know about rather fast.

Sainsbury's looks like a good bet atm. Use code SEFIVEOFF to get £5 discounted from total. I used it now just for £25 PSN. If you have no existing credit on PSN though, I would recommend going for 2x £16 credit from Sainsburys, which will give you £32 to spend on the PS Store and buy your +sub at £29.99.

Why not just buy the PS+ 1 year subscription from PSN store for 19.99, I think.

Unless I've missed something, it's currently reduced to £29.99 on PSN until the 19th of September.

I bought £35 from Sainsbury's with £5 off voucher so £30 for £35 leaves me enough to get RDR Undead Nightmares cheap.

U think wrong its 29.99

The occasional game deals make this OK, but nothing special. I would be surprised if you could get £30 of use out of it over a year. I never did out of mine.

As a former PS3 user (when PS Plus didn't even exist), coming back to such a deal is amazing for me.

Immediately I can get Motorstorm Apocalypse, LitteBigPlanet 2 and Infamous 2 totally for free. That's my money back without even trying although I do appreciate that not everyone will get that extreme value if they're an ongoing PS3 user.

Personally I've got many times more than £30 worth of value out of PSN+ in the last few months. Motorstorm Apocalypse, Just Cause 2, Darksiders and LittleBig Planet to name but a few....

I think people are getting confused with Playstation plus and PSN credit....

So this would ultimately make it £27.57 then. This would be great value with a 15% off code. If only I'd bought an e-voucher back when the promo was on!

Exactly, this I believe is a redeemable code that gives you 365 days of PS+ it is NOT £30 credit in your wallet.

quick question on ps+, I know you can only play the full free games while subscribed, but if your sub lapses for a while then you re-sub do you get past freebies back or do you start anew ? ta

Last time they did codes, they stealthily excluded PSN/Live cards

I've got over £100 worth of games in the three months I have been a PS+ member, not sure how you managed to do so poorly even with the old way it used to work.

The games I have so far (that I can remember):

Infamous 2
Motorstorm Apocolypse
Darksiders
Chime
Red Dead Redemption
Retro Grade
Oddworld
Rock of Ages
Saints Row 2
Borderlands
LittleBigPlanet 2
Dead Space 2

And I'm sure there are others I can't remember from the top of my head. As I don't buy too many retail games, this is working out just fine for me. I really can't see how you can fail to get value out of a £39.99 a year subscription (down to £29.99 for the next 10 days!!).

good, will buy this later then, thanhks for letting me know.

What he is getting at is BUY 2 x £16 cards and get £5 off, so costing £27 for £32 credit, buy PS+ through the store for £29.99 and leave yourself with £2 in your wallet. Effectively making PS+ £25 instead.

Probably took a month to download as well, ps downloads are really slow on my system even though i have a 40meg line, the files are quite big

Ah, sneaky. Could still have bought an e-voucher then bought PSN credit, then voucher the PS+ Plus though. Silly me for not thinking ahead!

i deleted retro grade didnt like it, got all the others though, so well worth the money.

Exactly. The 1-Year PS+ subscription is £29.99 to buy from the PS Store via. your console. You can use PSN credit to buy that service, just lke any other game. So using the £5 off Sainsbury's voucher you would be getting it even cheaper and have some PSN credit left over for something else.

Sorry, skimread the post at lunch! When does the Sony's 20% off PSN+ offer end?

My speeds are pretty decent with BT Infinity, downloaded Just Cause 2 in about an hour, think that was around 8-9GB It does seem that peoples speeds are very hit and miss with the network though.

Not at all. I have Sky Unlimited Broadband and average around 8.5mbps. I will stack three or four games a time at around 5pm when I get home from work and they are usually done in a few hours (I never notice just how long as the playstation is quite quiet and I don't ever notice that it has finished and turned itself off). I'm using wireless connection too.

I've never understood the issues some people report with PSN downloads, unless it is a really popular demo on the day the store updates (which is a traffic issue).

It's 25% (£40 down to £30) and ends 20th September.

@Denziloshamen

I've been a 'PS+'-er a year now and didn't really twig how good the service is until you listed the games. Granted the majority of free games are 2+ years old, but the occasional new game (Rock of Ages, Retro Grade) goes free..... In fact Oddworld: Strangers Wrath HD had only been around a month or two before going free (wish i'd held out instead of buying on release).... As for the rental argument, yeah i see where people are coming from, but for me PS+ offers better value for money over XBLG (although not neccessarily a better service, but you get what you pay for).... It's the discounts that seem to keep me spending on PSN, and with PS+ those discounts become even more encticing. Shrewd move on Sony's part, i'd just wish SCEE was more transaparent in their communication with their customers (Walking Dead, Counter-Strike:GO etc)

Best bet is to buy a £25 PSN voucher with the £5 off code (SESEPT5OFF) for £20 and do the same again. You get £50 store credit for £40 that way, so a little extra to spend on those discounted items.

Scrub that, I dont think you can use the code more than once and I used it to get Skylanders Giants Starter pack for £39.99 the other day.

SEFIVEOFF works too. A possible workaround to the only-using-the-code-once dilemma.

Isn't it the 19th?... Also be careful, they can update the store at any point on the 19th, so i'd say leave it no later than the evening of the 18th to be on the safe side

I think its just because i joined it from the start and I got infamous 1 out of it and I think Dead Nation... to be fair then if you can get that batch out of it then I would say its probably just about worth it. Although most of those games dont really float my boat or I already owened them. I like that PS+ gives this kind of thing away though, on XBL you get diddily squat for roughly the same money (although i feel the service is still better)

Must be your internet then. I am on Talk Talk with only roughly an 18mb line and I am getting a full game in around an hour and a half.

You could buy a £25 card from sainsbury using the £5 off code then add £5 to your wallet making the cost £25 for a years sub. Thats what i have done.

Is red dead redemption free with ps+ too?
