It's called inflation. Yes it's annoying. But it's nothing to cry about. … It's called inflation. Yes it's annoying. But it's nothing to cry about. Prices don't stay the same over long periods of time and PS+ has been 39.99 RRP as long as I remember so it makes sense a price increase was due. Show some rationality

If we’re showing rationality, then should we talk about how online gaming was free on PS3 and still is? How it is free on PC? Sony said they needed to charge on PS4 to improve the service yet there have been no improvements. In fact, we got even worse games from the service. Should we also mention how Sony blocked EA Access because they claimed it wouldn’t provide good value to it’s userbase (yet as we can see on Xbox, that isn’t the case) and how Sony are preventing cross platform gaming with Switch and Xbox players?

I think Sony needed to show some rationality before increasing this online paywall for it’s userbase. #4theplayers, right?

I'm sure many of us would like a reason from Sony for the price hike.

They gave a reason to Eurogamer.

“We are changing the pricing to reflect various market conditions while enabling us to continue providing exceptional value to our members."

“Exceptional value”?

Annoying for anyone who plays online and not interested in the 'free' monthly games. Have Xbox One as well. Goodbye Sony!
Shopto back up to £37.85 now. Stocked up from here.

Don't think inflation is that high! It's about 3% isn't it. Probably blame Brexit next...

That's annually. How many years has PS+ had an RRP of 39.99? It's more than one.

The price increase is because Sony are the dominant company in the console market, and they think their users will pay the increased price, Sony are just maximising their profit
Ordered one this morning and CD Keys never registered the order but Paypal money debited. Looked in my Account and no sign of it so must have glitched as no email receipt either. Reported it. Never had a problem till today, most annoying. EDIT: They sorted it out!

Sony just caused us to take ShopTo offline
Glad I built a PC now, for a while it seems like I've been collecting consoles purely because I've purchased digital games on them that I still like to play occasionally and the consoles simply are not worth selling. It annoys me that I've purchased some retro PS2 games on the PS3 like GTA Vice City etc! that have recently been released on PS4, but if I want to play them on PS4 I have to buy them again
So I thought I might as well go over to PC, at least you can still play older games and every game you buy is still going to be playable when you upgrade your PC. Also not having to pay to play online and with most games being considerably cheaper, I'm sure it will start to pay for itself over time

Probably the cheapest atm so heated. Worth noting CDkeys are now being d1*ks about the fb code and won't let existing accounts use it after 2 gos, used to have unlimited use for years, so if you have used CDkeys in the past you will probably need a new account for the cheapest price.

As PS Plus is going up to £49.99 from 31st August (just got the email this morning) it’s definitely worth getting at least an extra year worth before then since it will probably never get down to the £30-£35 mark again. £40 will be the best discounted price and £45 the average I'd guess. Really glad I took advantage of some cheap PS Plus deals on prime day and during the days of play, so the price increase won’t affect me till about 2020 by which time it could have gone up again or even gone back down (unlikely tho) if the reception is negative enough and they lose enough subscribers.

Yes it’s a sucky move by Sony but I suspect that is the price of more AAA games in the monthly games. Personally I liked the indies and cheaper plus, but I guess they have to please the masses that refuse to play anything that isn’t a big name. Personally would really like to see PS Now bundled with PS Plus, for me that would justify the extra.

Would advise lots of people to take to social media and even email Sony to complain and outline what we expect for this 25% increase e.g. PS Now with PS Plus, more monthly games, maybe even monthly TV and movies. While the price increase can’t be stopped with enough demand we may be able to prod them into offering more for the extra money, why should we pay 25% more for exactly the same amount of content….

Still not worth it to play online. Sony really need to introduce a two-tier system for those not interested in the monthly games or make online free again (unlikely admittedly). As for rational, the maths shows Xbox Live to be much better value - I've only seen two or three offers on reduced subscription charges from Sony. A contrast to Microsoft - everything from free trials to half price yearly/quarterly. My Xbox One S upscales to 4K, Games with Gold are usually better, subs are much cheaper and so rationally there is only one conclusion I can reach. Been loyal to Sony for many, many years. Rational involves making a decision based on the pros and cons. I have done just that.

Man just don't buy it if you don't think it's worth it. I'm also not arguing for or against sony charging for online play. I'm merely pointing out that it is not an uncommon scenario for the price of a product/service to increase over time. Talking about this increase, which as far as I know is the first RRP increase since PS+ release in 2010?

I’m pretty sure Xbox Live has been £39.99 RRP a year since it first began on the Original Xbox and yet they have only added to the service.

Sony is money grabbing. This increase isn’t about inflation, Brexit or anything else when other companies offer better services for less. I’m stacked from previous offers until 2019 anyway but unless they improve the service over the next two years, I will not be renewing.
Am I missing something here, because it's £37.89 on Cdkeys and with the 5% it's £36... I can't get it down to £33.89?? Anybody please?
