Noticed the cards are still this price in store Currys/PC World a couple of days ago too. Worth a look if you're after this and have a store local.
Its not as good pay model as XBOX Live. Just seems superfluous to anyone who has a game collection of their own. XBOX Live on the other hand is a no brianer. You can't live without it. If you actually got to keep some games I would be interested. Otherwise its just a glorified rental service.
I am going oversea soon and if I found the PSN plus card cheaper (due to currency exchange rate) can the code be use on my uk account? Wil it work?

A very good value one at £29.99 for a year if you insist on looking at it that way. Don't forget on top of the rentals you have further benefits such as discounts, early access to betas and features such as auto-downloads of updates at a time of your choice(this alone is brilliant IMO as I have updates sorted through the middle of the night).

Personally I think PS+ is far better value than Xbox Live Gold, as aside from being needed to play online etc. Microsoft barely throw us a bone and still fill the dash with adverts.

I agree with this. I'm mainly an xbox and pc gamer and the ps3 doesn't see a lot of action but imo PlayStation plus is one of the few genuine bargains in gaming, even at full price. If you don't mind playing stuff to Sony's schedule then you could pretty much get away with only spending 40 quid on your console gaming every year and still get a good experience out of it.

If I didn't have a gaming pc and a 360 then I'd be on it like a shot but as it stands I can't really justify it but it's still a far better deal than live gold as far as I'm concerned.

How is it not as good? They get free and discounted premium content every single month, a better cloud storage system and, bandwidth permitting, can trial full premium titles at launch without paying a penny. XBL Gold's cloud service is crap and Microsoft have literally no alternative to those other benefits. You can't even trial games on demand on xbox.

I wouldn't say honest as much as I would say fanboy nonsense.

I'm in the same boat as you, I've been subscribing to gold for years and probably won't stop at anytime soon but it's hardly a fantastic service in terms of benefits compared with psn+, it just happens to be a lot better established and a bit more secure.

Fanboy alert. Listen, I LOVE my PS3 as much as my XBOX but the truth is you dont need PlaystationPlus to make it a functioning console, that is my whole argument, We should all be glad that sony give us free online gaming and app usage. I wish microsoft were the same.

Its not a case of which is better, Its a case of which is necessary

Playstation Plus is absolutely fantastic value, I love both my Xbox & Playstation, but it's a joke that Microsoft charge for what everyone offers for free. I really don't think they'll be able to get away with it next generation. Anyway, great deal!

It depends where you are going. EU codes will work, other regions with different stores will not.
Isn't it funny how people like to shout about how their console is the best, defending their console choice to reinforce to themselves that they made the right decision in purchasing the console they did because they cant afford to own all the "other" consoles.
No brainer if you got both PS3 and Vita!

Eh, where did that come from? Haven't read any such comments here and probably your own would be closest to it oO
Question i hear that if you subscribe to this download the Free games on offer then your subscription runs out you lose the games, exactly how does that work ?

So wait, you're saying that Xbox Live Gold is a better deal because Microsoft force you to pay a subscription just to make it a "functioning console"? Surely I'm not the only one who sees something funny with this?

And please don't throw that tired old "people can't afford other consoles" argument about, people in this thread have said their very valid opinions, and yet you're the only one getting defensive and trying to insult other peoples economy (or lack thereof).

As someone who owns all three current consoles, I subscribe neither to PS+ or Live Gold. The former because I already own a ton of unplayed games that I bought before the service went live, and the latter because I refuse to pay for online play, especially when Microsoft are the only major player that charge for this basic service. I'm not big on online multiplayer anyway so it's no skin off my nose.

That being said, PS+ is a great deal and I see that many top rated games have been available in the past few months. If you own a Vita too then the deal is even better and the same subscription applies. If PS+ is just as strong when the PS4 eventually comes out, I'll be very tempted to get on board because as Spark said, you could literally get away with only spending £30 - £40 per year on games and still have a great time.

Pretty much as you suggested, although as I understand it if you later re-subscribe, you will have access to all of the games you previously downloaded once again(which I think is pretty good, as they could have reset the library).

Of course discounted games are yours to keep even if you stop subscribing.
Don't listen to aibon.

I had a 360 for years and was always secretly bitter about the PS3's features until one day i sold me 360 and got a PS3.

It was the best decision I've made. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. PS+ is light years ahead of the competition and the only reason aibon is against it is jealousy.
Know i meant how do the games stop working if they have been downloaded to your memory card when your subscription runs out.
Excellent value and if you are new to the ps3 you get a whole stack of full games chucked in with a couple new every month.

I guess much the same way as SKY+ stops working when you stop subscribing to their service(someone else will have to clarify this as I'm on my first year sub), where even previously recorded programs on your hard drive are no longer viewable(well, watchable).

The games remain on your console, but when you try to play them a "content expired" or similar appears, i think.
will this card come with a use by date? My current subscription expires in June. Or can I piggyback it onto my subscription so I'll have the service for another 19 months?
Yer mental to not get this if you have a ps3. Too much value for money!

Damn. Paid £40 for this from Tesco just this week and have used it. Perhaps I should buy one of these and take it to Tesco and try and get a refund for what I paid. Does anyone know if these will be in a sealed case

You can activate as soon as you get the card through the post, it'll just add the 12months onto your current subscription.

Well thank you for your input(NOT), after all the psn/PS+ threads we get the Xbox live is a better service(in the opinion of the Xbox fanboys) and that the PS+ is a rental service(I don't but you have people buy games, complete them then sell them for a new game. PS+ removes the need for that, d/l the game complete it then delete it and play one of the other games in the instant collection. Rinse and repeats). We DON'T need it posted in EVERY SINGLE thread.

I think you're definitely right if the ps3 is your only or main format but I just don't use my ps3 or vita enough to make the most of it.
When u click on the information on a game it tells you when it's expires after that the game will still be there but won't play just like with a trial and unlock game
Thanks, OP. Ordered! To take advantage of the January PS sales and to get more value out of my Vita and PS3. And also to take advantage of the £11.99 Sony music streaming service. Don't forget TCB.

You are right "XBOX Live on the other hand is a no brianer. You can't live without it", because without paying for Xbox live you can't even get online. (_;) You have no choice in the matter. PlayStation + is an add on, free games and discounts for only £2.50 a month. PlayStation has always had his customers in mind. It came with inbuilt WiFi, Xbox had to buy an add on, PS came with rechargeable pads at no extra cost, how many battery packs did you buy? How about free online, how much have you spend to get online? Uncharted, god of war, heavy rain, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, little big planet, Infamous, Resistance and the list goes on.

Just so you know i own both Xbox and PlayStation, i no longer buy games, seeing as they drop in price so soon. I rather pay £30 a year and just "rent" them.
Please just stop all the stupid comments its a good deal hate the way all gaming deals turn into Xbox is Better then the PS3 no the PS3 is better.

Is it possible to get two and stack both together to get 2 years subscription?

Edit: Seems that they are stackable based on comments on the web...
