No they won't
Cex cant update them without logging into an account first which they dont do.

I've bought several from there all at 3.20 firmware

I recently got two vitas delivered one tv and one 3g, both 3.65.

You dont need to log in to update, skip sign in and go to the settings.

Ive also seen them test the units in store, going through setup.

Try buying one now
People are buying them because of the potential for hacking and the prices have gone up.
Cheapest place to buy with Stock and 2.years guarantee

You must be unlucky is all I can say
I've bought loads of tech from CEX both in-store and online and none of it has been updated with latest firmware.

Had no idea these had gone up in price. Still got mine sat around somewhere from when they were getting flogged off for peanuts.

Was using it exclusively as a Symphony of the Night machine.

When and where did you buy?

Will I need to hook up a hard drive to play all the vita games?

So the good part of this deal depends on luck then?

Chesterfield, Sheffield, Rotherham, Worksop

They only test them when first recieved then pack them away.
They are not retested before despatch.
CEX have had excess stock of PSTV and vita for some time.

My son works at Cex and he say when they test they dont update they wipe and then test WiFi connectivity

I've had them not wiped before. It depends who's testing them.

Latest pstv was purchased from Worksop on Saturday with 3.20 on it

@SVRich
This pstv deal with 2 year warranty at current market price IS the deal.
The bonus is if you get a 3.60 or lower firmware
It's still a great deal for big screen vita titles and PS4 remote play using a DS3/4 controller
Edited by: "bruno116" 25th Oct

You could just download emulators and use on a laptop or pc? That's free

I'm tempted by one of these for the remote play. Don't know if better off hitting up eBay though.

I've been scanning eBay the last few weeks
You can get one for 35 to 50
No 2 year warranty
Sellers are getting wiser and being asked what firmware is on them them and some of the bids are going crazy
CeX has stock in-store In most places at a fixed price.

Hope this helps

Can you not factory reset to put it back to 1.00 ? I always update my pstv

You won't be able to ps4 remote if you don't update too right

No. As with most Sony products you can't downgrade.

Yes Remote play needs 3.65 however henkaku on 3.60 spoofs the pstv to 3.65 allowing PSN access, vita gameplay and download and PS4 remote play without updating

I was just going by the part that you said was the good bit in the deal description implying the other bit wasn't so good.

No emulators for PS Vita. I would prefer to go that route if it were possible though. I basically want to play Wipeout 2048 and I'm not sure that one game is worth £40 for the console, £XX for a memory card or USB HDD.

Which is a shame but it's effectively a £40 for a vita emulator. Win 10 can remote play and does so really well. It will run most past consoles through emulation and it's all free. In the future PlayStation will require a update to play certain games, they done it with the psp so you had to wait for a hacked version of that firmware which could take a long time

Just had one of these imported brand new from Amazon US, £44 all in, arrived this morning (4 day shipping time)

By modern standards these things are pretty trash. Always had a bad experience with Remote Play despite Steam streaming, Steam Link streaming and Xbox streaming to various laptops/pc's working all completely smoothly (some better than others).

The games library is stupidly restrictive in the EU/UK, with a huge amount of games that *should* work simply not working just because they're not on some white list set by Sony. Frustratingly the white list is different in the EU/UK to the US despite that the games should have no issue working because they're simply not on the list the Vita TV won't start them.

Just overall a very half arsed product at best

When remote play was first launched I used the vita and ps4, it was horrendous. Possibly due to the terrible Wi-Fi hardware fitted to the ps vita and ps4. Recently been using remote play on win 10, got to say it runs perfectly. It's not 1080 but it looks good enough and get a good frame rate.

Sounds like buying in store is the best option then, at least going by my experience, if 3.60 is the selling point they may let you see which version it is before buying.

Heads up, If anyone does need to return a system in store, they do retest them before refunding you so be prepared to possibly wait.

Really....
Amazon.com showing at $59 then add tax, import duty and shipping total comes to $79.57
That's £60.36
I've also check camel camel and Amazon or 3rd party new hasn't been below $50 just for the unit.
I call BS

Little bit naughty this post, surprised it hasn't been pulled. Usually any 'firmware chat' goes on within the comments not the deals description! Still... good price.

What's worse is it will actually let you download Vita games that won't work on the PSTV. How shoddy is that?!

Seen one in my local cash converter for £12 on Monday. I was tempted to buy it but some of the danganronpa games wasn't compatible with it. Will the hack thing sort that out so I can play?

Does the PS4 streaming work decently these days? Vita support/modding is nice but I think I'd get more use from the streaming tbh

Yes whitelist v2 will sort it
If playing with DS4 controller you can sort of use controller touchpad to activate touchscreen commands

Is this what I can use to play my vita games such as persona 4 ?

Yes, not all vita games work without hacking it but Persona 4 Golden works perfectly.

If you read this entire thread you'll understand why these are more expensive now

They've been discontinued for over two years and you can't even buy them new now

Mines been sat in the cupboard for almost 2 years, god knows what version it is. I only used it to take to a friends house foe remote play rather than taking my PS4.
How much of a chew on is it to install this Henkaku? Im guessing I'll need a bigger memory card as I've only got 1gb

Cool thanks for letting me know. Don't get on vita much thanks to the kids so this would be perfect for persona 4.

Yeah price bombed when the vita did.
Then with the rise of the exploit and people getting better internet connections they have become popular again.
They're like rocking horse shizzle from most high street game shops.
Also people are getting wiser to the exploit and updating to 3.60 with henkaku and selling on eBay at inflated prices
