Remote play is well-known to be best with Ethernet. WiFi needs to have "use wifi in low power" turned off on the PSTV/Vita. It also works best on a 5Ghz router, but if direct connecting to a PS4 wirelessly, it's a lot better than via the router.

Over Ethernet with 60fps mode enabled, PS TV is really quite good (just look past the rubbish Vita OS etc).
I got these and just realised il need a memory card, there only Sony specific ones that will work right? Other than that, I've downloaded some ps classics and am forced to play in a boxy 4:3 ratio with borders all around with no option to change to wide-screen like on the vita. Any help guys?
gamestop had these going for 39.95 or so a little while ago, still in stock which might be useful for some
just checked today and the ones on gamestop appear oos
Do you take a ethernet cable from ps4 directly to the ps TV. Or do you go from ps4 to router and from router to ps TV?

Nonsense - depends what you want the device for. Mine is used as a dedicated TxK box

It does have limited internal memory, which is enough to install a handful of smaller games.
I haven't tried the PS1 classics yet, but could live with 4:3 ratio to be honest for those.
I must give that a go, I love Crash Team Racing
Comments seem to suggest this is no good for what I need - ps4 in one room and want to remote play on a different TV upstairs when the missus is watching TV. Is the wireless lag so bad as to make this unplayable?

    Powerline adapters?

    Powerline adapters?

As above. Wireless works okay if directly connecting to the PS4 (instead of via the router) - my Vita is more than acceptable, but it isn't entirely suitable for twitch-gaming as it can occasionally slow down for a few seconds.

Via Ethernet over powerline adaptors, 100% lag free.

I bought one as part of the Smyths deal the other week. Used it for playing FIFA which started off well but there was signs of lag via hardwired and unplayable with wifi. It also crashed a few times which is pretty disastrous when playing against your mates

All of the Playstation apps such as Netflix and Spotify are blocked for some strange reason.

I wold recommend to buy an extra power cable, Scart and just move your Playstation if you want to play in another room

I also changed a few of the recommend settings to see if it helped but no improvements. I was using 100mb Powlerline adapters and have a 60gb internet connection. Took it back

Which is valid, but doesn't factor in the recent update that allows for 60fps (which makes a huge difference!).

Streaming services aren't allowed via remote play due to legal ramifications etc. There's some small print somewhere, but don't expect DVD, Blu Ray or any streaming media services to work via remote play.

Despite having Ethernet, if you have WiFi set to work "in low power mode", it tends to cause lag issues on the PSTV, overriding the Ethernet connection in some cases. There's a thread on NeoGaf about it all:

Be warned you will need a powerline or direct connection for this.

PS1 games are supposed to be in 4:3 as that is how they were made, 4:3 was still the dominant screen format through the 90s and even into the early 00s. Stretching them is a stupid idea as it will just make the graphics look worse and some of those old PS1 games look plenty bad these days even in 4:3. In general 2D games like Suikoden etc tend to hold up MUCH better than 3D ones...
I have fibre. Yet my remote play experience was awful. The problem always lies in the upload speed. I got some powerline adaptors (which was mentioned here) and can confirm once the ps4 is wired in, the remote play functionality to both my vitas and playstation tv via wifi works flawlessly. Obviously games like cod or anything fast paced even a miniscule amount of delay will get you killed. But generally im quite impressed with the quality.

No you can plug both into your router/switch or you can use it over WiFi. Lots of people report it best over wires though I can't fault remote play with my Vita over WiFi. Silky smooth and very few glitches. I expect similar from this although I will wire it.
Doesn't matter what kit you have, it's always going to have a slight delay, no getting around it.

When this hits £30 I will buy another.

By the way, the speed you get with this and powerline adapters has nothing to do with internet speed. So it doesn't matter if your internet speed is 100mb, 50mb or 5mb, it's all about the speed of your network. Sorry it's a pet hate of mine when people talk about internet connection speed when it is your network that is the issue.
no one said the powerline adaptors increase speed. but when the ps4 is uploading the data wirelessly, the vitas or playsyation tv are also wireless, it seems to have a serious effect on the experience. it is essential the ps4 is connected to your hub either directly or by powerline adaptors. i messed about with settings and port forwarding for hours on end, yet when connected directly to my bthub its quality was far far superior

You Get 1gb internal memory and you can expand the screen in the setup menu.
I know ethernet Internet is best..... Does that include home plugs? or are they as poor as wifi (ps4 remote play)

Should be Ok as it needs a consistent signal. Have you tried a speed test using homeplugs?

Yes, iI get about 17megover wifi......home plug i get about 13, ping of 60ish over home plug and 30ish over wifi
All the ps TV needs is Netflix, Amazon and plex, if it had then I'd use mine, to be fair though the kids couldn't play 2 player minecraft yesterday, one of them had 2 use the vita
So many people who don't understand how these work but so happy to slate. In fact, don't understand how wifi works in general. 'My internet speed is 100MB/s but this is laggy' - please.....
Get a decent network then it'll work
I'd pass, I got this on the 45 deal from game. Within 2 days I took it back. I'm wired cat 6 in the house with gigabit switch.

I connected directly over the lan.

There is a lag, let's not kid ourselves and for dying light it just felt unplayable at 1080i or 720p. Due to the half a second delay.

I was hoping this would be great, if you are not sure get it from game.. Open it carefully and return it if you experience the same.

Just to reiterate. Connected via lan. Direct connect to ps4. Laggy over Cisco gigabit switches.... About half a second lag, the lag does make a difference...
