let's look at it another way are u willing to pay £350 or in this case £299 for something ul use a handful of times then it sits on the shelf and collects dust? there is only a handful of game 4 it and 99% of ps4 games don't even support it lol
All the people slating VR have probably never tried it. If you want to experience gaming taken to the next level, get it. If not, don't.
I think it's hard for people to grasp what the VR headset adds. If you sit watching eBay videos then you just won't get it. We have one and my wife watched the kids and me playing it via the TV. She clearly wasn't impressed she thought it looked like every other game on the ps4. So I gave her the headset and her jaw literally dropped. She said to me that the TV really doesn't portray what you experience with the headset on. Games like Eve Valkyrie are amazing and Resident Evil 7 is unbelievable in VR especially with the headphones on, it's downright terrifying at times!

Stores like GAME need to have a unit in every store and they should encourage people to use it. None of the ridiculous charging that they tried to implement when it first came out. Just let people play and experience.

What do people think, is this going to be getting a huge price cut any time soon and ever be in the realistic £200-250 range?
i can't see it getting too cheap. 299 is tempting. genuinely dont know what games there are though and would need the camera and controllers too

Yeah I agree, would have to be under £200 for me to consider it, even then i'd want to pick a used one for under £100 (in new condition)

It all depends how it does in the critical months following it's release i.e. now. If enough people buy one, developers will see a large enough market to make it worth supporting it with bigger and better games more like the games the regular PS4 gets, but if few people buy it then yes, it probably won't get much more support like many add ons of the past e.g. move and kinect, to name a couple.

I think the pricing makes it a big ask for a lot of people and the cost of move controllers, which have probably sat in some warehouse for seven plus years is scandalous.

That said this is a hot deal and I'd like to see PS VR do well, simply because that will encourage more and better games for it and refinement of the technology for future versions, such as getting the resolution higher, which seems to be the main issue of the current one. If this one tanks, there is that much less incentive for Sony to invest in a better v2.0 model....

I like the idea of having a 100" screen stuck to my head

Wait for the E3 show it's only 6 weeks away, see if they announce an updated model etc

This price with the camera and a controller and I'll bite...remember if you don't already hav ethem you need to budget another £100 for a camera and a couple of controllers (yes I know not ALL games need them, but some are better with them)

Hoping for an E3 update with fixed HDR passthrough as well....

Finally someone with sense! I already have a humongous head and my body is having difficulty carrying it, adding to the load with a bulky VR headset my virtual chiropractor is advising I lose weight. However I keep shooting the Zombies and they're really there to help reduce brain matter! Anyway I have a TV and HUKD for dumbing down

Once the cords detached seriously, I am in. It's difficult to get a fully fledged experience with the cable holding me back.

Fair enough, it won't be for everyone
it's the additional costs that puts me off giving it a try.
Kinect all over again really liked it now it's been dumped to the wayside
Tempted but will wait see how it goes with games etc
Sony is struggling to cope with the demand, I think far point won't help that situation...

Seems that way, the kinect on the 360 was something everyone was going made for but lack of developer support killed it and this is going the same way.

The way you phrased it, you should like you're probably slave to your impulsive spending habits and possibly a short attention span, amirite?

Regardless, this is currently the best deal available, so have some heat OP.

Nope, that is definitely not true. Always think long and hard as to whether or not I actually want/need something (otherwise I wouldn't have been mortgage free by my mid 30's (_;) ).
Wanted to try it and knew if I didn't like it I would be able to sell to for the price I paid.
I have a sealed PlayStation vr willing to sell for £280 if anyone wants it.
Heat from me. Bought it at £350, along with a PS4 and the camera and a few VR games (haven't found the need for the move controllers/sticks yet)... and I love it. Pre-ordered Farpoint with the Aim, and I can't wait. It is a great piece of kit, and is not a fad like the kinect (original or the 2.0 on the xb1), its a fully fledged addition to next level gaming. I have been an Xbox fanboy since it's inception, and never bought a Playstation since the original PS1.... but this made me jump ship, so I flogged my XB1 and went for it. No regrets.
This will go great with your 3D TV...
I am tempted but I always balk at buying something the purveyors of "reinvention" and "innovation" come out. I believe in "if it aint broke, don't fix it" analogy and I think current gaming has evolved as much as it can. Hence I do feel this is a gimmick but is it a gimmick worth trying, that is the question.
Bought it for £270 from Amazon, bought a camera for £24. Treat it as another genre, it's an amazing bit of kit, well worth the money.

Sold it before developers brought out great games ? What a plonker!!!
Waiting to see if the PS4 release of Elite:Dangerous will be VR compatible. If it is, I may very well be in.
How about, tried it decades ago. Didn't sell well then. So could be a fad twice. Still too much.
I'm sure it's a good experience having tried 2 other brand/models however it's still quite expensive for something that isn't necessary. It will be interesting to hear what they have to say at E3 with a new PS4 VR2, an update more games etc. Something like Fallout VR playable on the the PS4 would make it more tempting or something crazy like a FIFA Be a pro VR mode to sell it to the public and therefore i'd imagine more VR games would be made.

There are LOTS of games for it. And many of those are absolutely amazing. I use PS VR more than any other console now (including PS4 in flat TV view).

I think the main gripe for folks in cost.. if it was £200-250 more people would have bought it that's for sure, it's 350 for the headset, then really you need to upgrade to the PSpro which is another £350 and then you need the camera £40 and move controllers £60 and of course some games £60-100.. forking out all that cash has to be taken into account when reviewing your experience so is what little REAL content (res7 aside) there is worth the expenditure?
Sold mine, didn't like it... it's another gimmick
If Sony really want to shift units they should let slip it can now also be used for viewing other VR related "entertainment". Google "Littlstar psvr", 2nd result. Impressive stuff, allegedly.
Can buy an Xbox One or PS4 for the price of this, or a bundle of games to play on them
