I've had the free account for a while now. However wasn't used much and after a recent new build installed plex and imported my library (move from Kodi) and watched a few flicks. Haven't jumped for the lifetime before but considering it now. Any users out there provide any reasons to signup?

For those of you who want Tidal, you can subscribe to it through Plex and get a Plex pass for the same price as just subscribing to Tidal. So basically, free Plex with Tidal (with thanks to @Theo.Cupier)

You can share all of your content for free on all devices except mobile app which has a small fee of around £3. The main premium feature is the ability to record live TV through plex, providing you have a network TV box such as HD home run and antenna (you can still view live TV for free just not record it)

Note: Plex have just released their own online live TV service. This is free and has nothing to do with the premium subscription.

Dammit. Haven’t got one. Does anyone know if these can be shared?
I've had this before it's directly emailed and is a unique account specific code I believe.
Damnit. I haven’t got one. If anyone gets one and doesn’t plan on using it please could you send it my way? I would really appreciate it.
If others aren't getting a similar offer via email I'll expire this....

Are you signed up to plex newsletter or previously paid the extra subscriptions at all??
Just wondered if either of these 2 options may ‘help’ with you getting the offer.....

I get fairly regular emails from them and I have never paid any subscription of any kind to them previously.
Edit: May have signed up for a free month offer at one point but cancelled before payments were due.

I’ve just subscribed to the newsletter and might just pay for a month and then cancel to see if it helps... 🏻

I think they still do 30 day free trial.

Edit: See that's just for music

What extra over the free account do you get with a Plex Pass subs?
Edited by: "Benodet" 31st Jul
Nothing for me, used to pay monthly but on free tier now, would bite at this if you're reading Plex gods

Never bought any subscriptions and/or free trials, got such promotions several times. Pulled the trigger few months ago
My advice would be pay for a couple of months, and then cancel. I paid for ages and didnt get anything, cancelled and waited... then got lifetime code for around £60

Damn still no email here. I've had a free account for years, recently had a Tidal/Plex Pass 30 day trial and was hoping that would help me get a discount code. It's odd that I don't seem to get any emails or newsletters even though I'm subscribed to it.

Hi, roughly how long did you wait for lifetime code?

I think, you can share even without Pass (not sure though.
From the top of my mind, main perks are:
- Hardware transcoding (especially useful for remote access, moreover, if sharing with someone and there will be several simultaneous streams)
- Skip Intro option
- DVR
- Free Plex player apps for all platforms
- PlexAmp mobile app for music streaming

There is a comparison table on their site with full list of differences.

2-3 months after I cancelled I reckon.

I paid monthly for a long time (dont shoot me lol) and got zero incentive/discounts. Likewise from a brand new email address to compare.

I have had the Plex Pass for about 2 years now and to be honest there really isn't anything major that the free version cannot accommodate. But yes hardware transcoding as well as being able to play videos on a mobile device I think may be the things that may interest those on the free to consider the Plex Pass.
I just use the free Emby mobile app (plus server) and plex for all other devices.

If you do want to use Plex on your mobile, and you are willing to pay, you could use the Yatse app (around £3) which also allows you to cast your content to another device, something the Plex app won't let you do.
if on Apple,Infuse pro is much better than Plex.

Have you tried a US IP address maybe?
A question for the savvy, I have put server on my qnap and have paid for the android app, I only want it for music play back, initially the music in the folder came up as albums now I have hundreds of different tracks rather than the albums showing on my phone, what have I done wrong, all I want is to be able to see is thumbnails of the cover art to the album and play the ones I want.

Thanks for the link. I have had the free Plex for years and looking at the paid pass, there is nothing really there that I would need that the free Plex doesn't offer.

Have you inadvertently selected the 'tracks' rather than 'albums' selector/organiser on your app

Yes, just tried that and still no dice. Even after signing out then clicking above link it was still displaying GBP rates even though connected via a U.S. server!

That is pretty strange, is it possible the metadata on the files is corrupted or the database, if you uninstall and reinstall the server you need to make sure the database is wiped as well if it has the issue. It's probably worth posting on the plex forum they have a lot of support available there.
