Plumbing and drainage cover £6 for the first year . Severn Trent / Homeserve

Found 5th Feb 2016
This offer is back on again through Severn Trent /Homeserve.
I know Home serve have had problems in the past but I think £6 is worth a gamble.

Their blurb :

If you are a homeowner, you are responsible for the upkeep and repair of the plumbing and drainage system within your home and generally responsible for the repair to the water supply pipe, from your property boundary up to where it enters your home. In some cases this responsibility may be outside the property boundary or shared with neighbouring properties. With such complex systems, if you experienced a problem such as a burst pipe or a blocked drain, it could be expensive to put right. That's why Severn Trent is introducing you to HomeServe to bring you Plumbing & Drainage Plus.

With Plumbing & Drainage Plus, major emergencies such as burst pipes or blocked drains and minor repairs like dripping taps are all taken care of. In a plumbing emergency, there would be no need to search for a plumber, it would take just one call to HomeServe's 24-hour, UK based helpline to arrange assistance from a HomeServe approved plumber. Plus, there would be no repair bill or excess to pay within the claims limit.

This limited offer of £6 for the first year ends on 18th April 2016. Any applications received by HomeServe after this date will be processed at £12 for the first year.

My past experiance with Homeserve was very negative, other words bunch of cowboys to say the least.
still a waste of money ..
if u have a water leak ,on the supply pipe, even if it's on your property , the water board will fix it , free of charge , they wont leave water pumping out, or leave u without water, and they will try and reinstate the ground , though things like block paving ect will cost extra . As for the waste, they normal block in the main run , and how many times does that happen? unless u r stupid enough to flush things you shouldn't ...

    Rubbish... Worth £6.
They sorted my collapsed sewer pipe.
Took them a few visits but it would have cost me a lot more if I didn't have the cover.

I've since cancelled because it was double the price after introductory offer.

I'm thinking of getting the Mrs to sign up to this.

    Good deal op.

Interesting, I went with HomeCare Boiler Cover 8, and my renewal for year 2 was more than double the first year introductory rate! I know its an introductory price but to more than double it on the second year was disgusting!

can previous customers of £6 offer last year sign up again?
    Home Serve are soso.
I had them for years with mixed results.
Last call out was for a 3 way valve.the replaced it but drained the system down the wrong way.
This caused the valve that lets overflow water out to the back garden to let the system drain out.
They came back to fix this and damaged wiring and printed circuit board.six visits in all and half the boiler replaced. So good and bad lol.
The Anglian deal I was on just ended so will wait a month and take out this one.
Seems worth the small price to me for the peace of mind.

No you can't, but when they quote you a price for the next year, it's worth a negotiation as they will come down by a fair amount
Ring them to cancel the second year they always do a good deal for you name your price just about.
Can't complain about Homeserve at all. They replaced 120m of my old supply pipe.
In a process of getting my water pipe leak fixed (water leaking from the base of the main wall, fortunately water going outside the property).
Plumber came start of last week and found out that it's not his job, got another appointment with the specialist engineer this week. Engineer came yesterday and found out that he needed another engineer to help him to sort the leak according to him, it's a big job.
So got another appointment about end of this month (still waiting).
So what kind of monthly /yearly premium's did people get offered after the end of the first year?

Not true, we had a letter from servern Trent saying a leak was found on our shared supply pipe with neighbours and we needed to sort it out between us. They couldn't pin point it and we needed to get a plumber in to find it. As we are home owners but neighbours aren't, the leak was actually on there side but shared we was still responsible and if we didn't sort it, they could enforce action against us! We got onto council as they were responsible for that property, but we did Contact our home insurance which would of covered it less the excess, which was £150. So this offer is great, well worth it.

That's because you have to pay Homeserve £95 excess each time you call them out & have a repair done!!! You do realise what that means??

How much will they come down by? Thanks.
If you've gone for this policy in the past (we did a couple of years ago I think) is it okay to go for it again? There is a question have you gone for it before? I'm not sure it was the same policy exactly though.

they are good. I always have a blocked bath...

What's going down there so regularly? oO
Is there any excess per claim? Was waiting for this to happen again, missed the Christmas offer. Thanks Op.

No mention of it anywhere. I take that as a 'no excess policy'
Don't own a house but I'm getting this for £6

"once we’ve found the leak, you’ll be asked to
sign a disclaimer form, authorising us to do
the repair. We’ll then get the job done within
7-10 working days, free of charge."
    but hey .. £6 is bargain .. ???
had a neighbour ,water meter going so fast it was unbelievable , rang the water board .. guess what? fixed it for free .. ... they try it on , but u know they have to provide u with drinking water! think about it ,how many people do u know that's had there water cut off? none they can't . .. and if there is a leak leading to your house , they have to fix it . £6 my *ss
Will the repairs be covered as well as fixing the leakage, anyone knows?
    Thanks in advance
as for Sewerage, as soon as it hits the manhole out side your property , it's theirs , unless u live at the start of the run ... and seriously unless u flush things u shouldnt .. £6 is a leader , to get u in , then double ,treble the cost , on something they won't have to do anything for . .. I guess u could get them in years to come on miss selling a policy u didn't need ?
Everything Homeserve provide you will already probably be covered for one way or another either via home insurance (or a free insurance bundled with other services such as banking or credit card) or your local water company will have a policy to repair it free of charge, however this is time limited so providing it doesn't go pop again within say 2 years you should be fine. Also drains are usually their problem if its also connected to a neighbouring property dated pre 1947 (i think is the date) or it crosses land belonging to someone else first.

Where does it say you can't sign up again? Can't see it in their t&c's.

It goes from £6 a year for £8 a month... So it is 16x the cost!
    Sounds too cheap to me.
