I called Plusnet yesterday to leave as I am a low user and I was interested in moving to iD Mobile’s £5deal (250 minutes, 5000 texts and 2.25GB). Plusnet matched this deal for me so no need to move now, hassle free too!

Crucially, PlusNet allow tethering whereas iD Mobile don't, so could well be useful.
For £6 virgin are doing 2500 mins, unlimited texts and 2gb data which rolls over so you can effectively have 4gb in a month.

Crucially, Plusnet aren't owned by CarPhoneW*nkhouse whereas ID are. Which means you should get customer service that is actually helpful and you won't get ripped off.

PS: can confirm tehtering works on Plusnet.

To be fair I've been on iD mobile for over a year now and can't complain at all. I know others have had problems though.

I wanted the choice of unlimited mins so I took the £6 deal but was given 2 months free line rental so worked out at £5 per month for next 12 months happy happy

Wow that's excellent they did give me some credit I took the £6 deal but yours is better

They gave me 250 min, unlimited text, 2.30gb data. They did say on the phone unlimited mins , unlim text, 2.25gb data but when email came 250min . Still good deal for me as i'm a light user.

How would you end up with less than 2gb? You get 2gb every month you get rollover if you have any gb left its not taken away from your next month's allowance.

Yes it is. Ive just got back off the mobile with plusnet to confirm 30 day rolling contract and it is confirmed 30 day rolling contract. They said if its sim only its a 30 day contract. If you get a handset its a 12 month contract.

worth noting that to keep SIM alive - real cost per month is at least ~£2.50

The person was asking about the virgin deal not plusnet. Virgin is 12 months contract you didn't read what they quoted

iD mobile allow tethering. I know because I'm on iD and have done it.
don't think this is a very good deal l, i pay £6 for 2000 min, unlimited text and 2gb data with plusnet

I also have a £1 deal but that was a misprice

It might work but they don't allow it, feel free to check, I checked a week or so ago they hadn't changed their policy more recently. So if you want a contract where you can rely on it, plusnet is better.

Apparently there is no such thing as a universal "very good deal".
People who use mobile data a lot, but not airtime can point out that they get 2.25GB for a fiver instead of 2GB for £6, good deal.
On the other hand, those who call/text a lot can say 2000 mins/unlimited texts for £6 is better value than 250 mins/5000 texts.
I am working on unlimited calls/text and 2.25gb data for £5 month with Plusnet. I have not been successful yet but heading that way. I won't know until beginning of next month. For 2 of my sims one for my wife and one for my sister.

Plusnet - 250 mins, 2.25 GB data, tethering, no data roll over, retention deal only
iD mobile - 250 mins, 2.25 GB data, no tethering, data roll over, new customer as well

Why on earth do you still want to tether when you only have 2.25 GB of data, the data roll over is a lot more important. ID mobile is a clear winner.

The same reason you would want to tether if you had unlimited data - because you need data on another device sometimes.

2.25gb goes a long way on Android, I rarely use mine up or even close. If you want to tether a tablet from time to time, or probably a Chromebook this could be useful. If Windows 10, run a long way in the other direction.
Thanks OP! Was waiting on a PlusNet deal

And support WiFi Calling and you can tether - like Virgin they don’t ‘allow it’ but it works so ID offers more (if Three signal covers your usual bases/places).
I literally just called and got the same great offer as above, so its still active for plusnet even tho ID Mobile don't seem to be doing it any more!
